Finished cookies!!! I didn’t eat all the dough and here is the proof…I make the same kind of cookies every year. Stars only with clear sugar crystals….They are sooo good. I can honestly say I am a Christmas cookie snob…no one makes them better than these…I got this recipe from a 90yr old grandma of one of the guys I used to work with at the paper mill. He brought them in and I made him go call her for the recipe that day. I love home made sweets…and that is why I have to work out so hard…but truthfully since I have been home from Houston..a little over a month now…I have worked out with a trainer, kicked boxed or have done body combat for at least 5 days a week if not 6 most of those weeks…I mean I have worked very hard for a middle aged woman…I have watched my eating close as I can for a quilter who is around so much food….and guess what? I have only gained 3 lbs…no really I have lost a few but not all that I have gained this year with being at the Gathering so much and eating Terri’s home cooking…you girls know what I am talking about who have been there…..Thanks to Mom and Ames we finished these cookies in about 3 hours. The recipe is in our Primitive Christmas book….try them and you will become a Christmas cookie snob too and ruin it for anybody else’s cookies you try…
PS I had a wonderful day reading all of the comments you posted to the email I sent out earlier this morning. I don’t think I laughed that much in a long time….THANKS!…I also forwarded each and everyone to my shop girls so their day was filled with great comments and laughs too! WE LOVE YOU QUILTING CHICKS!!!!
What??? You show us the cookies but don’t post the recipe??? We need to get the book, but the mail is so slow!!! ;( 🙁 🙁 My stomach is gowling as I look at the cookies and now I have to go track down the Christmas book and hope that I can get it before Christmas??????? YUMMMMMM!
We need the cookie recipe on your blog Lisa. Either that or the book.. Your stars look great. And, by the way, I purposely placed a POSITIVE order yesterday after reading your blog. Your staff deserves nothing but kudos for they are definately devoted to you and Primitive Gatherings. Quality cannot be rushed.
Merry Christmas
Thanks for the reminder Lisa! I was wondering where I saw that recipe last year. And there it is…. page 13! I thought it was in one of my many cookie books. Might have to try the Fool Proof Fudge too. BTW… the patterns are great too in this ” Primitive Christmas” book! LOL I love the snow flakes falling down as I type.
Lisa; Thankyou SO MUCH for the posting yesterday. I work at a dentist and I have been lamenting the ‘christmas crankies’ for weeks now. On Monday I came home in tears telling my husband I was quitting my job. Of course being the darling he is, he held me close…made me a cup of tea and pour me a bath. When I got to work yesterday I had girded my loins for more meanies and I got this email by way of Mom (one of your biggest fans) I felt for your girls………and I also felt pleased for your girls. WHY? Because they have a WONDERFUL boss who goes to bat to protect them. I was touched by your protectiveness and it only makes me more pleased to spend my web-shopping money at your store.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and all of your hardworking elves! We’re approaching to home stretch and the reason for the season.
Not fair…put a picture of cookies up and not give us the recipe!!
And as far as your email goes, I was so sad to read it. You all work so very hard, have such wonderful designs and kits and I for one am more than happy to wait for my order. I love what you do and will be shopping with you and visiting your “store” from a distance for many years to come!
I think if we order the book we won’t have time to make those fabulous looking cookies before Christmas. I looked for it on your website, but I can’t find it. I didn’t see it at the Long Beach Show or Road to California Show. Is it still for sale? I really want to make those cookies!!! Would you consider posting the recipe on your blog for us? Speaking of your blog, I LOVE it! I log on every single night after work to see if you’ve posted something new. I sure wish I lived in Wisconsin so I could shop at your store frequently or even maybe work there!
Can’t wait for my book to get here!!!! So sorry your staff had to deal with such mean people. I think it is so sad that some feel it is ok to act this way. Your staff is hard working and we love them and appreciate all they do for us.
Thank you and can’t wait to make the cookies!!

I can’t find the book to buy on Primitive Gathering’s web site. I can’t find it on Amazon either. I bought the sparkling sugar crystals at Sur La Table today so I’m ready to make those beautiful star cookies. Would anyone who has the recipe be willing to share it here? Thank you Lisa, for inspiring us 🙂
Charmaine…the book is under Our Designs…Books and it is called Primitive Christmas…but because I am such a nice person I will post the recipe…but the book is great and if you do not have it you are missing out!!!!LB
Thank you so much! I know my family will love them. I’ll be looking for your booth at Road to California in January so I can buy this book! I’m really loving the whole Primitive style 🙂
