I live in my husband’s hometown of Sheldon, WI, a very small town in NW Wisconsin. It is nice and quiet here, perfect for quilting when I’m done with the farm work.
I live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago but my heart belongs to Colorado. That is where I grew up. It will always be “home.”
my name is Sue and I live in Wytheville Virginia, This is not my home town but I live here. I have lived here almost 10 years. I was transplanted here. But the town is not bad and I have some really good sewing friends. We call ourselfs the Bitchin Stitchers as when we sew we usually talk more than sew.

I live in Breezy Point, MN and I do love it here. Sometimes I wish I were living in the city (when it comes to shopping opportunities!) but for the most part I like the lake shore living.

Well I live in Boynton Beach, FL so I guess that’s my current home town. I grew up in Boca Raton but was born in St. Louis. So you could say I’m conflicted about which is my home town. I love something about each one and still visit St. Louis. If I could move myself to a new home town it would have to be New Mexico. I know it’s a state but I love the whole place and wouldn’t be choosy where I settle down!
Sounds like you need a break – success can do that to you…! We love your designs and your creativity. Looking forward to visiting your booth in Des Moines. But – take care of you. If you burn out – we won’t get to ‘experience’ Primitive Gatherings for many years to come.
my name is gloria and my hometown is san antonio texas. i love it here, born and raised here and can’t imagine living anywhere else. we have cool springs, hot summers, warm fall days with chilly nights and not too cold winters. one of the things i love most are that people are friendly here, we have a lot of tourists, it’s kind of like a small town feeling but it’s actually a mid-size city, and of course we love our Spurs! But mostly, I love my town because it’s where most of my family is and that’s good enough to make me want to stay here forever!
I currently live in Grand Ledge. I was born in Battle Creek; grew up from age 7 to 25 in Ionia; moved to Lake Odessa and then on to Grand Ledge for the past 25 years – all in Michigan. I believe ‘home’ is where the heart is. And I love it here. A small town but close enough to the ‘big’ stuff.
My town is called Herscher and I am proud that we reach out and helps our neighbors and take pride in our community. We are so small that we lost our only grocery store this year and have to drive to do any shoping etc. The pride of our town would be our churchs, the school district (go TIGERS) and the community with a big heart to the world.
Donna…. lake Elsinore , CA…do I LOVE it?? Hmmmm… Not sure… I don’t think I have ever lived somewhere where I absolutely LOVE it. It’s the only area I know…. I need to go exploring I guess and find a place to retire so I can LOVE that place! 🙂
Can’t believe I get to comment this soon. Usually I only remember at the last minute but I so love the Primitive Gathering site so I was looking for Lisa’s blog post right away. My hometown is State College, PA, also known as Happy Valley, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions but our community and university is not much of a happy place these days. It is beautiful in the fall and football games and tailgating are a special part of the season. Looking forward to seeing all your special “woollies” for the holidays.

Hi I am from Copperas Cove Tx and the only thing we can really boast about is that we are right next to the largest miltary base in the world…. Ft Hood Tx! I ahve lived here for almost 40 years and because of the military there are a lot of people coming and going and not to many Coveites left around. We do love out football though!!!! Go Bulldogs, Longhorns and of course the Cowboys!

I love your fabric, would love to get to your shop but it is not close. So I drool over your things over the internet. I met you once a few years ago at the Chicago Quilt Festival and wish I had known you would be my favorite place to shop. I was just a newbie at the time. Keep doing what you are doing as it is beautiful stuff. My hometown was a great place to raise families, as it was about 5,000 residents and we all loved being in such a small community, though I grew up outside of town on a farm. i wish our kids could live in the world that I did where it was a lot simpler and scarey than our world is now.

I live in Ma. I’ve always lived in the same city. Some family members have moved away. Holidays and birthdays bring everyone back home again. This is what makes my hometown special.
I live in Lancaster, CA. This isn’t my hometown but I have lived here for 25 years. I can’t say that I love it here but I like it fine because this is where my family is (except for my two older kids who are away at college).

Hi, my name is Tammy. I live in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin but grew up in Menomonee Falls Wi until about 10 years ago. I started quilting about about 25 years ago, and i would agree, the only thing i visit in Menasha is Primitive Gathering!!! I wish i lived closer to the shop than i already do, but overall i would say Wisconsin has some great places to shop & visit so i am pretty lucky.

I live in Harlan, Iowa, but my heart is in the little town I grew up next to — Maloy, Iowa which only had about 35 people living in it when I was a kid, and I’m sure there are fewer than that now. I lived on a farm to the west and Maloy had a beautiful Catholic Church and a telephone office (which gives you a hint as to how old I am) and Frank’s store where we loved to go pick out strawberry, orange and grape pop. Maloy’s most recent claim to fame is that Hilary Swank’s father bought the Catholic Church after it was closed. He was planning to make a retreat center out of it.

My name is Suzanne and I live in a small town in Northern Vermont (population 3,500…there are more cows than people here). I live on a beautiful country dirt road where traffic is minimal and I can go and get my mail in my PJ’s if I want (and no one would know). I can’t imagine living anywhere else. You have your privacy, yet the community is so close that whenever anyone is in need, there are many, many people rushing to lend a helping hand or a prayer. My heart is nowhere else but here.

My name is Joy and I live in McKinney, Texas, 20 miles north of Dallas. I am much like you…we have lived here for almost 5 years now but have never really felt that connection of a hometown. My husband is retired USAF (22 years). Our last assignment was in Wichita Falls, Texas. We were stationed there for 10 years (not a common term). Wichita Falls felt like home. We are small town people; the hustle and bustle of the Metroplex is just not our cup of tea. We stay in McKinney because the schools are exceptional and our two children have absolutely flourished here! So, who knows where our “hometown” will be in 3 years after our youngest graduates high school. 🙂

We really don’t have much to brag about here, though the high school football is good on friday nights.. Cheryl. Home to me is Cave Creek AZ! I still consider Doylestown Pennsylvania my hometown, even though we have lived here for 22 years! I look out from my window at some of the most beautiful mountains in the West (just a bit biased ;)). One of the best things about living here, is our local quilt shop! I live in Milledgeville, GA, a town close to the center of the state. While we’ve been here for almost 27 years, it has never felt like a true “hometown.” We don’t have any quaint little shops or quilty shops that I would love to frequent. The closest quilt shop is at least 1 1/2 hours away. But we are here and as far as I know, plan to stay. I’d love to win some beautiful Primitive Gatherings fabric! Thanks for the chance!
My name is Dana and I live in O’Fallon, IL (about 14 miles east of St. Louis, MO). I find I am just the opposite of you – I grew up in the next town over (and never even came to my current town as a kid – there was nothing here!). I moved here after college and have lived here nearly half my life now, so I feel that this is home.

I am Brenda and I live in Epsom, NH a small town. My hometown is actually the next town over and would still really like to live there. I do like where I live but I guess my heart will always be where I grew up.
I live in Fall River MIlls, Ca. We moved here in 03 from Smith Valley, Nv. I had been there for 32 years, and raised my family there. It was a hard move, but I cowgirled up, and made it. We are in ranching, and I don’t have a lot of quilting time. I joined the local quilt guild, a month or so after moving here. It was wonderful, and all my friends here seem to belong. Best group of ladies in town. 🙂 . I couldn’t have made it without them. Also try to go to the Thurs AM quilting group-The firehouse quilters. Because we get to use the Soldier Mountain Vol Firehouse, thats what we call ourselves. But got to admit part of my heart is still in Smith Valley. If my husband is happy, then I am happy, and that is where my happy heart home is. As long as I get to quilt and have quilting friends. Would love to win a pack of the colors you used in your pattern. Using those colors in the Temecula stars block of the week. Great colors and great project you put together. Good job Lisa.

Tazewell, TN is my adopted hometown and I have lived here for 31 years-much longer than my “real” hometown!! This town has truly made me who O am tody-911 Dispatcher, farm girl, quilter, crafter, Grammy, -you name it! I would not change a thing! Just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary yesterday with my high school sweetheart! Let’s just say we were very young teens (17) when we married!!
When I was graduated from college, my parents moved from Iowa to Weyauwega so although it isn’t my home town, when my folks have lived in the the area for nearly 40 years I feel like the Fox River Valley is my home area. My hometown, Ottumwa, IA, has lots of pretty parks. One nice thing is that it’s somewhat centrlly located to see many things in the midwest. I live in terrell, Texas. It’s nice and hot here but I live out in the country and really love it, Don’t know about much famous except that’s there’s a state hospital here and sometimes when you tell people you live in Terrell they will ask how close I live to it.
My home town is where my husband and three dogs are. We have move a lot in the 41 years we have been married and enjoyed every place.
I live near Elmwood NE, but out in the country so I don’t consider living in that small town, but the community of quilters is great! I grew up about an hour away and I think the home is where you make it! Love the country living!

Lisa my hometown is Rice Lake and I am currently living in Eau Claire. My new favorite place is our land near Birchwood. We hope to build a cabin there next summer. It will be tucked into the woods. I’ve visited Menasha several times just to shop at Primitive Gatherings. It’s well worth the 9 hour drive.
My name is Karen and I live in central Arkansas, we have lived in so many places over the years though that I don’t know where my heart is – I do no that it is not really and truly here in central Arkansas – if I could live any place I wanted to it would be somewhere in the Rocky Mountains.

Well, I am just a skip and a jump away from you in Mason City, Iowa. I have lived here all of my life. We have great local cuisine…greek, ribs, pizza, mexican. This is the birthplace and boyhood home of Meredith Wilson, and we have recently refurbished the Frank Lloyd Wright – Park Inn Hotel. It is fabulous. Right now we sit at about 28,000 people and sit mostly surrounded by corn and bean fields. Yes, I love it here. The changes are beautiful every season. We lost our local quilt shop about a year ago, but we are lucky to be within 30-45 minutes of 5 really good ones, so…life is good.

Beautiful fabrics Lisa. Thank you for the wonderful quilt pattern. I live near Rockford, IL in a town right on the IL/WI border called South Beloit. I am really indifferent about this town and wouldn’t be upset if we had to move because really, there isn’t much here. I was raised in another small town five minutes from here and always wanted to live there after growing up and having my own family. I never did because property taxes are four times higher than where I am living and that also is another reason we’ve just stayed here. It’s a nice quiet town for the most part with under 5500 residents. I love that we can hop in our car and drive anywhere and not have the concern of a bigger town of traffic. I also love that we can drive an hour to Madison, WI or 1 1/2 hrs to Schaumburg, IL to do shopping at the larger malls and at our favorite store, IKEA. The drive into Schaumburg is enough for me of the busy traffic. LOL
I hope you did well at the quilt show in Madison. I really hoped again this year to get up there but as it has over the past three years something happened once again this year to prevent me from going. 🙁 Hopefully next year I’ll finally make it up there. (I say that every single year)

I live in a small town called Genoa City WI. I have lived here all of my life. I can’t say that I love it here but it is my home. There is really nothing in our town and we have to drive a minimum of a half hour to get to any shopping. I am about 2 hours and 45 minutes from Primitive GAtherings and have never been there. We always shop your booth at the shows we go to. I think the first time we shopped your booth was in Houston and we loved it from then on. After taking your lecture in Madison, we are planning a trip to your shop in October or Novermber. Thanks for the pattern. It will help me as I start with wools.
YES by all means MODA is the best fabric company there is. My name is Sandi and I am from Sonora, CA where this city is my hometown. I was actually born in Jamestown where my mom and sister still live there. My mom’s house is directly across from Railtown where engine #3 is the famous train used in movies. I have a lot of autographs that I still have from famous movie stars. However, my heart belongs to Sonora, CA forever. It has become a much bigger city because of people moving here to retire and just get away. We are actually 2-3 hour drive from San Francisco. Just like to visit but not live there. Well, Lisa, if i lived in a small town with you and your quilt shop I would tag it a bit of heaven! I am blessed to live in two places. I call Houston my home from Nov. until mid-June. Then I bug all your wonderful ladies to change my BOM.BOWs address to Jackson, WY. This land calls to me and I travel with my five cats and dog (all rescue) to this enchanted land. It’s a little rugged, a little sophiticated and a lot QUIET. I span three seasons here, work at the Animal Adoptioon Center five afternoons a week, call these wonderful people my “family” and rejuvenate. I am truly blessed.

This is Peggy, the potter, quilter and mom/gramma. Currently I live and work in Saint Germain WI, way up north. I enjoy your posts alot, especially this one since it cements for me how blessed you are with your family, crew of employees and your business. Your posts don’t say it, but we all know how hard you all work to keep it all together. I have to admit I have gotten to know Menasha solely because of coming down to Primitive Gatherings!

When I think of the many places I have moved to in 59 years, mostly I consider Langlade (a speed bump east of Antigo) and my folks home on the Wolf River as my mostly hometown. But since they sold it years ago, it’s more a memory page. Living up north in vilas county has never seemed like home since this area is too seasonal to encourage a hometown feeling. But I love the woods, the soaring eagles and osprey. I guess my “heart” is wherever my daughters, Amanda and Brandy, are. All else is temporary. When I lived in Iowa, I could come north for my woods and water fix! I love the shores of Lake Superior from Duluth to Marquette, but best of all I love being with my grandkids, Anna and Andrew. Family is a blessing, but it takes hard work to achieve that. And all good things are worth working for.

My hometown is Shawnee, Oklahoma. I grew up on a farm north of town, and I am the fifth generation of my family to live in the area. I think Shawnee is a great place to live and is home to two universities and has a rich heritage of industry and agriculture. Love your design for the hop!

So much to do, culturally diverse, great restaurants, great parks and rec, nearby hiking along Potomac river and Great Falls, could go on and on. I love my hometown of Calumet, MI — but often my heart is downstate in Howell where most of my grandkids live.
I have been waiting for this design! I saw it on your cutting table back when you showed a tour of your quilt studio, and have been watching for it ever since! LOVE this!! My hometown is Libertyville, IL, and I have to say I really like it here. It’s a great little town with big old houses and tall trees, fun shopping and eating, and lots for families to enjoy. I live in McCammon, ID–population 800, but I am from a suburb of Detroit. Talk about culture shock. I have lived here since 1999. It’s been a difficult transition, but I think I am finally starting to adjust. There is a great sewing/quilting community in Pocatello which is about 25 miles from here. I was just introduced to Lisa via Mary Fons’ show online!
I’m Julie and I live in Paducah, KY. I don’t have a “hometown” as I grew up in several places. What I do like best about living here is the AQS Quilt Show every spring! Primitive Gatherings has the best booth! Love the free project and would love to win a kit!
My name is Phyllis and I live in Mabelvale, Arkansas. This is actually a community outside Little Rock, the state capitol. My heart is really in the northwest part of the state where my daughter lives. I would love to someday move up that way to be closer to family.

Hi Lisa! I live in Hollis, New Hampshire a quintessential New England/New Hampshire town and truly enjoy it. I have the pleasure of being in an agricultural community with fruit tree orchards and farms running throughout the town. We are close to the mountains, seacoast, and major cities like Boston. Lots of quilters here!
Small towns are always interesting that way! We have lived in Central Virginia for 16 years now, just outside Charlottesville, VA which as you know is all things Thomas Jefferson. We are from South Jersey and although there was no Jefferson, we had the Cowtown Rodeo and Richmond’s Ice Cream and on and on and on! So yes, maybe I like where I grew up better, but this area with the Blue Ridge Mountain and the Skyline Drive and the Appalachian Trail is by far, one of the most beautiful places in the country so we feel blessed to live here! And I get to work at Mr. Jefferson’s University (UVA) which can be very entertaining at times to say the least!
I live in Uithoorn, a small place near Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I love Amsterdam because of the many restaurants, shops, museums, canals… And two quilt shopss!
I live in Glen Dale, WV, and I like it here because it is pretty quiet yet close to many things, such as shopping and parks to visit. Lots of festivals are held throughout the year in various neighboring cities, and I enjoy visiting Oglebay Resort, which features a lake, paddle boating, walking trails, a nature center, and more.
Cute project! I live in my ‘adopted’ town of Laramie, Wyoming and it is truly ‘home’, now. It is always nice to go back to Canada to visit but I am always ready to come back home to Wyoming and the soothing muted colors and big, big sky.
I am sure your shop is the best place in town! We don’t have a fabric shop here but if we did I would love it and give it a lot of business. we do have a couple of handmade chocolate shops so I have to give them my money instead. I keep expecting the baseball players from the fields of dreams to step out of one evening! I love to quilt, x-stitch and do any other projects that make our house a home for my family! I am NancyB ani live in Maple Grove, Mn. I guess my hometown is wherever I hang my hat. I often wish I lived in a small town. I was just in Menasha this past weekend with a great group of gals. We stayed in your wonderful home and ate great food cooked by Terri. I have to agree, the best part of Menasha is anything to do with PG. the best food?? Anything cooked by Terri. Hey Lisa, My hometown is Franklin, TN set in the beautiful rolling hills of middle TN. I totally love my hometown and have lived here all but 3 years of my life. We have 3 great quilt shops here in Franklin and one of them carries your patterns. I met you on the quilting cruise and took all your classes. My hometown is Mishawaka, Indiana but I left there in the late 60s. It was a nice hometown to grow up in, but my heart has always been living country-I loved loved living in Denver co especially the mountains, that was back in the 70s. My true heart now belongs to the ozarks of missouri where we retired to about 9 years ago. eldridge, mo is the tiny village near by, we live in the woods-awesome! I just love it here.

My name is Nanette and I’ve from Vancouver, WA. I’ve lived here most of my life and think the Pacific Northwest is one of the most beautiful places in the United States to live. I’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled to most of the 50 states at one time or another and actually lived in Tennessee for a year, but Washington is a place I’ll always want to call home.
I have lived in Grand Island, NE for 32 years, raised our 5 children here, but like you still don’t feel like this is my hometown. I was born in Germany as my Dad was in the Air Force & grew up living all over the country. My mother’s hometown which is 30 miles from here probably feels the most like home since we would move there whenever my Dad had to go overseas & my parents ended up retiring there. We have 3 quilt stores in this city of 50,000 which is pretty amazing & can travel to other good quilt stores all over the state. Thanks for your little pattern. I can’t wait to get start sewing with some of the candy charms.
I consider Cozad, NE my hometown. We are located on the 100th Meridian. I’ve lived in Cozad for 30 years. It is a small town where everyone knows each other. (Something my kids didn’t like when growing up, because they couldn’t get into trouble without everyone knowing.) My other hometown is Hastings, NE home of Kool-ade.
My home town is San Antonio, Texas. I’ve lived here my whole life & I like it a lot, but I am not sure if it is my “place”. I lived in New England for one year, 27 years ago, & *that* touched my soul…But life brought me back here & has not (yet anyway) made a clear opening for me to go anywhere else.

Hi,, I live in Carrollton, Texas. Although I love it here, it is not my hometown. Home is still upstate NY and will be as long as I have family there and keep going back to visit. I’m not sure if where you live is your hometown or if where you were born is your hometown-so I will give both. I was born in Boon, MI, population maybe 100. I was taken there to be born MANY years ago in my Gpa & Gpa’s old farm house. They passed away a long time ago but my wonderful hubby and I still do drive-bys several times a year even though it is a very long way (an overnighter) from our present home. When I am sad-back I go! Now, since marrying “wonderful hubby” 20 yrs ago, my home is Dexter, MI, the hometown where I think Laurie Simpson was born. It’s a very nice town with a fairly new library, a brand new trail park system and a cemetery where President Millard Fillmore’s brother is buried. And if that’s not exciting enough-we can always go to Ann Arbor. I love your blog and was so pleased to see you vendored in Grand Rapids this year! Yea!
I’m Vio from Seattle, WA. I’ve lived here since I was 13 years old and it definitely feels like my home town. My heart will always hold Mexico (where I was born) in a special place, but Seattle is where I was “raised” and where I am raising my family. It’s a wonderful place.

My home town is Flower Mound, TX. It is a nice suburb outside of the Dallas/Ft.Worth area to raise a family. It is not where I am originally from, but it is where I have raised my family the longest — 10yrs. Although we are not military, my family has moved a lot, and we have things about each area that we find to love. My home town is were ever my family is. Flower Mound — or Flo Mo as it is often referred to — is an easy going place that is a mixture of other transplanted families. Like all Texas towns, football is king. My dream is to make it back to Houston to see you there and get to shop in your booth. Back in 2006, I went with my Mom who recently passed away, and my sister. It is a memory that I treasure, and I have several projects that I bought on that trip that got me started loving wool including “Jack” and “Burl”. I love life here, the farmers’ market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the belfry tower and the bells ringing on the hour, the Speculoos-flavored ice-cream for sale on the main square … Only thing missing: a quilt shop, so winning one of the prizes would be most welcome! I do like my town, I have lived here in LaPorte, IN for 36 years and it is most definately home. If you ever get to LaPorte you must eat at Mucho Mas fresh Mexican Grill. We have 3 lakes in town which are great for boating or just a scenic drive.

My home town is Dighton, KS. Lived away from there longer than I ever lived there but my mom and bro are still there and it will always be home. Even to my kids who never lived there!!! I like to say I am from Little D and presently live in the Big D (Dallas)! My small attempt at humor :0) I have the best quilting buddies here in Dallas so don’t plan on going anywhere any time soon.
I have lived in Milford, PA for a little over a year and it is starting to feel like home, but I am a Southern girl at heart. I still wave at people I don’t know and say “Good Morning” to strangers in WalMart – people think I am a little out there (but that is OK ’cause I think we would all be happier if people were a little more friendly). I was born in St. Paul, MN., lived in Chicago for two years which I don’t really remember, then back to St. Paul. I now live in Woodbury, MN with my husband of 46 years. 45 of those years have been here so Woodbury feels like my home town. It was mostly cornfields when we moved here and if you needed to shop or wanted to go out to eat or a movie, you went elsewhere! Now Woodbury is a huge suburb of St. Paul with over 65,000 people and every restaurant you could want!
I have fallen in love with Primitive Gatherings and have been fortunate enough to visit the shop two times. Wool applique is my favorite thing right now. I did both the pieced and wood BOW this year and kept up with both of them and also the freebie. I also did the miniature Home for the holidays and won a Blue Ribbon for it at the Washington County Fair!

I live in upper Westchester County, NY and am quite happy here. I have to say my heart is on the coast of Maine though, Boothbay Harbor or the Acadia area. We vacation there when we can, and I love it! Thanks for the giveaway.
I have the same thing going on. I live about 30 miles away from my home town which is the West Side of Grand Rapids Michigan. the west side was an ideal place to grow up though much has changed there now. I do just love Michigan. It is so pretty and the fall is stunning. We go for walks in the woods and there’s always a pond within a few miles. It is horribly crowded now and there seems no place for the wildlife to live.

Of course NOLA has Mardi Gras, French Quarter, Good music and great food. Destrehan has more of the old southern plantation feeling. I just moved here to Yorktown, VA. Moving is common for us, because my husband is in the Army. I’m from South Dakota, but as of this May, I have no family left there. I guess I do the best to feel “at home” where ever we are. There is a common saying, “Home is where the Army sends you.” So far, I like it here, but we haven’t done too much exploring yet.

Hi I was born and raised where there is 9 months of winter and 3 months of hard sledding!! Really most call it Michigan but my my heart is where my parents loved the most and wintered there due to health issues for the past 20 plus yrs, that is Black Canyon City in AZ. They have passed over the last 3 yrs and knew How much I love it there they left it to me. That is my very own peace of mind place where I box up and send quilting stuff to arrive 2 days after I do and sew my heart out for 3 or 4 months! Then of course I ship back the day I am leaving!!
Hi Lisa! I’m Kathi and I live in a sweet little village in western New York called Lima. It’s famous for (surprise!)—- the Lima Bean Festival! There is a lima bean cooking contest, bed races and all sorts of other fun activities.

I actually grew up in Audubon, IA and then married a farm boy from where both of my parents were originally from. I’ve always felt that when I married and moved to Massena that I was coming home because so many of my family relatives live in this area. I feel truly blessed that I was able to raise my family in a small loving community. Keep cranking out all the wonderful primitive wool and quilt designs. But be sure to make some time for you….it’s good for the soul.

LOL Illinois is Illinois can’t say very much about it except it’s the home of governors who usually go to jail, politicians that leave you wondering and I am sorry I left Michicgan. I live in Coppell, TX – there are good and bad things about everywhere. I grew up about 60 miles from here but it’s no longer my home. I love my town because my friends live here and my kids were raised here. It’s close to DFW airport, everything Dallas and Fort Worth has to offer – shopping, tex-mex, Dallas Stars, Mavericks, art, The Dallas Symphony, concerts, etc. I love that my family – all my brothers and sisters and parents and in-laws – live within an hour’s drive. I love that we don’t get long, cold winters but summers are somewhat of a challenge when we have many days of 100+ temps. I love that there are fabric stores and quilt shops close around. Overall, I’m grateful for where I am and probably would fight to stay and not have to move.

My address is Elwood, Nebraska, but we live between several towns and have only had this address for 8 years. Lexington, Nebraska is the next town over and that is where our kids went to school and where we go to church and do our shopping so that is really home.

For the last ten years I have called Murrieta, CA my home. I enjoy the weather, scenery, and my kids live in San Diego but sometimes Illinois where I spent the first 55 years of my life seems more like home.

Hi Lisa, I live in a small town in Michigan, Lake City, population about 900. My husband and I have lived here our whole life and love it here. It is so nice to go anyplace and know everyone there. That is in the winter, but in the summer the population increases 10 fold because we have a beautiful lake. We think it is the prettiest lake in the state. Earlier this summer, we were in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and made a special trip to visit your shop. It was worth the trip!!

I am Tammy and live in Woodland, CA. I have lived in a few places, all within 30 miles of each other! I feel like the town I spent my teen years and early twenties is my home town. Even though I have lived in Woodland 25 years!!!! I still go to Davis, CA for the movies, dinners and the farmers market. So I get my fix!
My home town is Copperas Cove Tx, which is a bedroom community for Fort Hood TX. I have lived here for 49 years and I do call it home, however, we have an HEB grocery store and a Walmart. If you want to shop, be it quilting or clothes, etc, you must go to Austin which is 65 miles away. Thank goodness for the web. I so enjoy your blogs and of course your “stuff”. My husband and I moved to Chicago last year for his job. We’re originally from Vancouver BC. It’s been a tough transition but we’re making it happen. We were just back to Vancouver for 2 weeks in the summer and although it was nice to be there, it was also nice to get back ‘home’ to Illinois. 😀

I’m Rose and I live in Peru, IL which is centrally located in the state. Not too far from any of the big cities! I have always lived within 5 miles of where I grew up so this is “home” to me.
You are so right…Moda is the best! I live in Waucoma, Iowa…grew up near New Richland, Minnesota. My hubby has a job that has made him move several times. I have found my real home is where he is….sappy right??
This is Jo from Lees Summit Missouri a suburb of Kansas City. I like my town but over the years it has grown a lot, and I yearn for a small town as long as it has a quilt shop!

I live in Selah, Washington – a small town in the center of the state. I have lived in this area all my life (that is to say, quite a few years) and I love the small town feel and the small farms and orchards. We aren’t too far from the big city – Seattle or Portland – if we want to check those out but our daily lives are quiet here. Thank you for the opportunity to win some lovely fabric. P.S. I currently live on the edge of a large city in Yorkshire, but my real hometown is a small town about 25 miles north of London. It was the world’s first Garden City, and also home of the world’s first traffic roundabout.
I now live in Appleton, WI after living and raising our children in Fond du Lac, WI. However, Lisa I agree with you, in that, my heart is in where I grew up in my childhood, which was Menasha! What is the best part of Menasha? Without a doubt, it is Primitive Gatherings which I wish would have been in business when I lived there! Your girls are the best and your store is just the therapy my doctor ordered!

Fox River Grove IL has been my home town for 21 years. Living here is wonderful because we are an hour outside of Chicago and an hour from WI what more can you ask for. We can pick and choose what kind of day we want fast pace or relax in the country. Or stay where we are at HOME!

I live outside a small town in Alabama. The name is Trinity and it is very small, a spot on the road. We are outside of Decatur and Huntsville. I have lived here all my life. I recently moved back across the road from my mom in the country and I love living in the country. It is so much more peaceful. I don’t miss the train noise I used to live with and the traffic noise. Although some of the night noises here are scary, trying to figure out what it is. I still love it. Thanks for a chance to win in the giveaway.
My name is Dyann and I live in Gilbert, Arizona where the sun shines more than 310 days a year. I love the sunshine and our winters are fabulous. I grew up in a small farming community a few miles from where I live now, but progress has changed it into a booming town that I don’t recognize but I still have many wonderful memories of growing up there. Home is where the heart is and my heart is here in Arizona where my children and grandchildren live.
I live in the farmland of Eastern Oregon, I like it fine here, but the mountains are always calling. We do live close to some of the mountains of Idaho & Oregon. Love your fabric & your patterns. Wool is good! I’m just wondering – would you like to move to E.O.?

I live in the country near a small town in central Minnesota. I love our home but not that connected to the town although I like it. I grew up in Minneapolis and left when our 1st child was one. I liked Minneapolis and now 3 of my 6 cheldren live there. But the country is a great place to raise children.

My name is Janet Glover and I live in Buford, GA which is about 30 miles north of Atlanta. I was born about 5 miles from where I now live. I have lived here all my life and I can’t imagine living somewhere else. Of course, over the years the area has grown and changed a lot. Buford is the home of Lake Lanier and the Mall of Georgia. I love all things Primitive Gatherings and look forward to seeing them in Oct at the Georgia Quilt Show.
I’m Linda and we live in Strasburg, PA in our 18th century fieldstone farmhouse. It’s filled with quilts, including Garden of Stitches which is currently resting on a loveseat. We love everything about this area – from the farms to the fabric stores. It’s only recently that local shops are carrying primitive type fabrics thanks to your recent lines. Thanks for all you’ve done to spread our love of wool and all things primitive.
Lisa, It was so good to see you in the town where I live – – Madison, WI My hometown is actually Gaylord, MI but I haven’t lived there in 38 years….odd how we think about hometowns! I agree completely with your comments about Menasha — when I go to the Fox Valley (frequently for work) Primitive Gatherings is my destination of choice and my reward when I’ve worked hard at my job. Driving home after a stop at Primitive Gatherings I feel this sense of calm. Thanks for coming to Madison last week – -we were glad to haveyou in town.
Hi Lisa! I live in Anderson SC in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mts..for past 10 yrs…lived in Houston and Dallas for 25 years but born and raised on a farm in Western NY. We live on Lake Hartwell so enjoy the water and woods. Guild is where most of my friends live!!! Love your STUFF….met you a few years ago in Paducah and since in Atlanta…you are down to earth and a talented designer…we are so lucky for you to share your talents! Stop by for coffee on the deck anytime!
I live in Covington, Ga. also known as “The Hollywood of the South” . There have been many movies and television shows filmed here. I suppose there are other places I would like to visit but anywhere in Georgia would be suit me fine. Thanks!

I live in Roanoke, TX and we are home to the original Babe’s Fried Chicken. They don’t offer a menu because they only offer Chicken Fried Steak and Fried Chicken. For sides… Mashed Potatoes and Cream Corn. That is it. They have built Main St around this little hole in the wall.
I don’t think Home is just the town you live in but the surrounding areas. I don’t spend any time in my town (unless I’m home) since our town is so small. No shame in that.
We live in Eagle Mountain Utah. We just moved here from California at the end of last year. I am really enjoying it though. The weather is better suited to me than the desert we left behind. I melt in the heat. It has been hot here, but not as hot as in the California desert! I can’t wait for cooler weather and snow. Hopefully we get lots more than we did last year. We really need it! I live in Temecula, Ca, which is in Southern California. I’ve been here for over 20 years, so I consider it my Hometown. I was born in Southern California, but my first hometown is very run down and a scarey place to go, so I won’t even mention it. Temecula has hills and vineyards and orchards, lots of people and two great quilt shops and loads of wonderful, friendly people!
I live in Charleston, SC. You are my favoirte quilt store hands down. I’m coming for a visit at the end of September just for that reason. We are going to a Brewers and Green Bay packers game while we are there. Wool is one of my favorite things to work with, but quilt shops here don’t carry it. Guess it’s too hot. Hi! I am Joan Jeffers and I have lived in Reno, NV for 16 years. It is a wonderful place to live…I feel I could work for the chamber of commerce. We have the gorgeous Sierra Nevada mountains and about 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe. On top of that, we have 4 seasons…I am originally from Louisiana where we have one season…hot. Summer nights are cool and winters give us lovely snow that seldom stops us from doing what we want. Reno almost always has a breeze and for that reason we gave been dubbed the City of Trembling Leaves. We are a beautiful green oasis in the high dessert. I love it…come and visit!

I live in Taylorsville Utah the same town I was born in. I love old Taylorsville back when it was mostly a farming community. Now it is a suburb of Salt Lake City with all the traffic and people and lines to stand in if you want anything. When I was 16 my Dad took a job in Kellogg Idaho for 4 years. I thought I had moved to the end of the earth but learned to love it.It is a BEAUTIFUL place and I would move back in a heart beat.
I grew up an air force brat and can’t say I really have just one hometown, I have many! After a long stinit in the DC metro area I relocated to Austin, TX last year and so far enjoy it. I think the beach will eventually call my name though, so I’ll keep adding to my hometown list 🙂
Hi! I’m Chris from Geneva, IL. My original home town is Sterling,IL, but I haven’t lived there since I got married. When we moved to Geneva, it was a small, quaint town. We really liked the ‘small town’ atmosphere. Now, 30 years later, it’s grown and feels more like a suburb of Chicago. There are many quilt shops in this area that are easy to get to. Course, I wish I could visit Primitive Gatherings all the time!
I live in Lehi, Utah, but consider Clayton, CA my hometown. I grew up in Clayton and loved the small town. We have also lived in Tigard, Oregon and loved the home feeling we received there. I love gardening along with quiliting and especially four seasons.

I live near Rochester, MN where I was transplanted about 20 years ago. Having been a military wife and moving all over the country, I guess where I hang my hat is home. I was originally from Philadelphia, Pa. I have been to your shop and it is a great place to visit.
I live in a small town for California – Visalia, which is in Central California but I do love it. I was raised in a big City (San Jose) and after living here and then visiting home, I wonder how I survived all that traffic every day. I have lived here now for 24 years so I do now consider this home. And luckily my folks moved out of San Jose to an even smaller town than mine so it’s a pleasure to go visit them.
I am Joanna from Fall River, Massachusetts and this is my hometown, but no longer where my heart is. I would love to live in a more rural area and hope I get to one day. The advantage to where I live is that we are near beaches and wild life refuges so when I need to see that kind of beauty it isn’t hard to get to.

Hi! I’m Lori Albrechtsen! I live in beautiful southern California in the City of Glendora (just northeast of downtown Los Angeles about 27 miles). I do LOVE living in SoCal, especially because of the weather. I grew up here. But, I do own another home in Morgan, Utah, in the country. My heart is more there than here. Our home there is near a ski resort and two lakes that we loved to boat on. Our family also loves to mountain bike so we can do that in both places.

I love where we live now but to me hometown is where I grew up. So, I guess Highland, UT would be my daughter’s hometown. I do love it here though. We are nestled up against the mountains and live in a fabulous community! It has a small town, rural feeling but lots of options for entertainment and shopping only 15-30 min away. Cute project!

I’m Bree and I’m “from” Clearwater, FL (as in, currently reside.) My heart is my real hometown of Gorham, Maine. Florida’s too darn hot and crowded for me! I totally long for the breezy, crisp fall days of home. Apple picking, Cider, real hayrides, and pumpkin patches that aren’t pallets in a church parking lot!
On an aside, this fabric is totally perfect for my husband – he does primitive camping and keeps bugging me for a real quilt for his camp set!
I live in Holt MI, which is just south of Lansing. My real hometown is a tiny town about 80 miles east of SanFransisco, but I have lived in various parts of Michigan almost all of my life. I’d love to live closer to Lake Michigan, but it’s easy enough to drive there. A piece of my heart is near Chicago where my daughter, son-in-law and sweet granddaughter live. We have great bike trails in the Lansing area as well as in other parts of Michigan. We have a beautiful state no matter what the season, but it’s especially nice in the fall. I like how you made your 9-patch scrappy.
i’m rita, i was born here in beautiful downtown seward, alaska, more than 70 years ago and have lived here off and on most of my life. now, i have a little bachelor ‘cottage’ where i installed cabinets and countertops here in a little back room so i can sew and stow my stuff. i take pix of the mountains and birds from my windows, from the beach and around the bay and out by the glacier … seward and its environs is known for its scenic splendor!

My girl, Daisy, a good looking blue eyed mut, reminds me to say hello and to post for her as well. She thinks her hometown is just peachy. Hi Lisa, my name is Nancy Allen. I was born in sunny Southern CA. But my husband and I left here some 28 years ago. We have had 9 regional moves across the United States and are now getting ready to move to Maryland for a total so far of 10! Can you say Gypsy? I will be moving into our 18th home. . . .wow just saying it outloud makes me wonder how we did it. As far as where my heart is? I think I have left a little piece of it in all of the places we have lived, especially when I leave one of our kids behind. This time I will be leaving our 3 daughters and 4 grandkids. But on a high note we will be close to our son and his family.

Greetings from Eagle River Alaska where I have lived for the last 35 years and it is home. I was however born and raised in a coal mining town in Pennsylvania.
I’m Lynda and I live in Vancouver, WA. I really don’t have a “hometown”. Spent the most years in Anchorage, AK but I go back now and really don’t enjoy it much. I think that friends make a place you have lived and liked a real hometown, and we just moved around so much that I really have no childhood friends – therefore I have no “hometown”

im from a tiny little town called yerington in rural nevada. growing up, i really wasn’t a fan b/c there isn’t really much to do, but now i love it there… really, b/c there isn’t much to do 🙂 but it is a simple quaint little town where everyone is family.
I live in Pipe Creek Texas which is literally a dot in the road, have lived here for the last 12 yrs, don’t call it home though, have to call San Antonio home. I love your project….so cute.
My hometown is Youngsville, NC on the outskirts of Raleigh, NC, but to be perfectly honest, I don’t know that much about it. It’s so tiny that not much happens here. It’s mainly just a postal address. I’m really glad you’re designing your own fabric now. I love the colors and feel of your last 2 lines.

I was born in, grew up in and have returned to live here, in Vancouvetr B.C. This is were my centre is. This is home. During the earlier years of my marraige we saw different parts of Canada, most of them small towns, a couple of tours were in isolated spots. Ilive in the UK in the town of High Wycombe. I don’t love this town but I do like the area it is in and all the pretty villages we can’t afford to live in. And I love the neighbours in our small cul-de-sac – and I have no idea what one of those is in US English! It is a short, closed end road of just 39 houses – a bit likeliving in a village really.

My name is Syd and I live in the small rural town of Franklin, Idaho. I’ve lived here for about 20 years. I love it because it is so close to the mountains and easy fishing. About 8 miles from here is Preston, Idaho known for the movie Napoleon Dynamite! And unfortunately that movie is so on the money of these two towns. Kind of embarrassing if you ask me!! Hello from Spokane, WA. I grew up in a military family so my roots are very short but I guess I have lived the longest time here in Spokane…so it is my home town. By the way, I love your fabrics! Hello! I am Mary and my hometown is Marshall, Missouri. It’s kind of hard to call it that now as I’ve lived about 24 miles out on a farm for 26 years, but when we go to town that’s what we’re referring to rather than the smaller towns that are closer to us. I did go to high school there and am proud to be a Marshall Owl. Not a ferocious mascot, but its ours.

My hometown is London, Ontario Canada, a fair sized city with a small town attitude, and not really in the good way.
My heart is actually in several cities, all to do with family. Peterborough is where my very large extended family is centered and growing up it was always more home feeling then home.
My husband is from a teeny, tiny hamlet in North Carolina and I did find it felt like home the first time I visited.
The whole of Scotland felt amazing but Gairloch really felt like a place my soul has known forever. The only other place that has felt like that is Muskoka, which is cottage country here in Ontario.

Hi Lisa, I’ve lived in Fargo, ND for 36 years and it’s a great place to live, but I grew up 45 miles away in Detroit Lakes, MN and I love it there. Great lakes everywhere and beautiful countryside. I’m lucky to be able to go there all the time.

Hi Lisa. I live in Augusta, GA home of the Masters Golf Tournament. I do not golf, nor have I ever been to the tournament. The best thing about Augusta is my family; but if given a chance I think I’d rather live in New England, or North Carolina, or someplace a little cooler than Augusta in the summer. It gets really hot and usually really dry in the summer. I love to garden and quilt and would love to live where I could leave my windows open more than 2 weeks a year :D. Oh and my ideal spot would definitely have a wonderful friendly quilt shop that carries wool and wonderful Moda fabrics. We have two sewing and vac stores-not the same :(. I am enjoying reading about everyone towns, kinda like traveling but cheaper, lol.
My hometown is Alexandria VA, which I really do love, but I don’t live there anymore. I am in another seaport town of Annapolis MD. I do like living here, it’s quite beautiful with the Naval Academy here.

I live in Jamestown, NY, which is not my hometown. I grew up in a rural area of Genoa City, Wisconsin and would consider that to be my hometown. Nice area, but other than having family there, I’d rather be in the southwest. My sister was lucky enough to go to your lecture at Quilt Expo in Madison and said it was great. I was born & raised on the “right side of the tracks”. After being away from the area for 35+ years I moved to Winneconne, WI 10 years ago. The best part of living here is being 20 min. away from PG. Have to agree that it’s the best there is in Menasha. Love all the projects & just being able to hang out with your great staff.
I am from a town called Ramos Mejia in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, now living in Luxembourg… I have to say I will always love my home tome, but starting to like living in an old and tiny European city, with all its quirkiness, old streets, pathways that ends in old towers and so on…

I live in Foothill Ranch, California. But like you, my heart is always in Missoula, Montana. I was born and raised there, all my family, excepting my wonderful husband, is still there. It is only for the man I married would I leave the heaven that is Montana.
Hi I am from Winchester,Va and have lived here most of my life in the country. It’s part of the great Shenandoah Valley and I always have loved it here. Hi Lisa..I’m Pam from Kalamazoo, MI. I got my first chance to shop *live* at Primitive Gatherings, at the AQS show in Grand Rapids a few weeks ago and now have lots of fun things to keep me occupied at least till the snow starts to fall. I am not native to my town either and grew up about 90 north of here, very near Lake Michigan. I do like some things about this town tho. We have 2 colleges and a community college and with all that influx of students every year, there is always something going on. I think too that Kalamazoo has an amazingly active quilting community and active art community, backed by education. It looks like your little project is done with your Old Glory line (??) which I’m anxiously awaiting. Thanks for the chance to enter!

The 17th Street Bar and Grill is the best place in town to eat. Mike Mills is famous for his BBQ ribs. Yummy! Also, we are getting ready for the Apple Festival. Everything made from apples. Big parade and apple peeling, pie contest. Sooo much fun. Wish you could make it to our event. Lisa if you ever decide to expand, please come down here to Sputhern Illinois and rock our qullting community. Everyone loves your patterns, wool and your amazing personality.

My heart is still in New Mexico. The majestic sunrises and sunsets and the sky are just too wonderful to describe. It is called “The Land of Enchantment” which is so true. I live in New Braunfels, TX and have for 17 years. I love Texas and will probably not live anywhere else, but my heart is in those Sandia Mountains of New Mexico. Your little town sounds like a hoot…All the women just go there to go to your shop! Of course…I would love to try Terry’s one of these days. I ADORE your mini quilt and would die with pleasure if I won a kit! Your designs and your booths always take me back to a time when life was less rushed and life on the family farm or ranch was Heaven.

Live in Clayton, NC for a very good reason – quiet country community with the kindest people around. Having to drive into Raleigh is torture all via interstates – so when we come home it is a very big sigh of relief that we are on our shady and quiet tree-lined street and home safely once again. Oh my…I love your project!… and your fabric, and your patterns, and your blog!!! I currently live in the Seacoast area of New Hampshire, but my heart is most definitely further north near the mountains of New Hampshire where I grew up. My husband is from the seacoast and we’ve been living in his home town now for 22 years. I’m thinking when we finally retire in, hopefully, another 5 years…it’s MY turn to choose where we live! For the past 40 years I have lived in the Hamlet of East Northport, where every summer beautiful baskets of flowers hang from the lamposts and every winter Christmas lights are strung across the main road. The local library has a fireplace and coffee bar and a big wood carved bear holding books right outside the front door. East Northport is one of several towns in the Township of Huntington.
Just 1 ½ miles from my front door is Northport Harbor with so many beautiful boats at
anchor. The town park offers weekly concerts and family fun nights. On Tuesday nights the main street is filled with collectible cars and outdoor dining. We have more restaurants than can be mentioned and several with water views.
We are about 2 miles from Long Island Sound and views of Connecticut or a 30 minute drive to the Atlantic Ocean Both great choices for bringing a quilting project. East hamlet in this township has something unique to offer, garden tours in the summer and genealogy lectures in the winter; fall festivals and craft
Fairs. There are at least 4 farm stands and places to go pumpkin picking. We even have a quilt shop – Pieceful Quilting.
This is home to me and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. Oh, did I mention the traffic?? Of course not! That would ruin everything!!
I live in Hemet, CA to be near my girls and grandson but my “hometown” is Albany, NY , upstate NY is a fabulous place, 4 seasons great food, family and friends. Love your patterns and material. Thanks for the giveaway.

I live in upstate NY in the little hamlet of Apalachin, right on the northern border of Pennsylvania. Our claim to fame was in 1957 when the State Police raided Joseph Barbara’s home while he was holding a gangland convention, several of his mafia friends scattered through the surrounding woods and got away.
Our more recent claim to fame is Doug Hurley, the astronaut, grew up here. I love your designs and mixing wools and cottons together I always look forward to your e-mails.
Somehow I never realized that you travel so much for your work — loved that lifestyle when I was able to do it, way, way back when craft shows and fairs were happening. I live in Green Cove Springs, Florida now, a much friendlier climate than upstate NY, but I always seem to miss the Catskills, no matter where I am!

My hometown is Auburn, WA and it is a great little town south of Seattle about 20 miles. Some of my favorite things about Auburn are the library and High School music and drama (love supporting the kids who participate in these programs).

Hello my name is Jenelle Jo. I love my name. I was raised in Iowa and lived there until I was 39. I moved to Seattle, Washington for 11 months, then moved to Portland, Oregon for 22 years. Now we live on a farm in Kansas we have been here 11 months but this will be our home until the end. I still concider Iowa as my home. And I really loved living in Portland, my favorite place to shop was “Fabric Depot” in Portland. I could spend hours in the store at a time. So once I get use to the town in Kansas I can’t say if I love it or not. I just wish they had better eating places and there is not even one fabric store here. That is sad. I live in Hampton, NH a village on the seacoast. I like it but it is not “my” hometown. There are too many tourist that come through here and always makes for alot of traffic all summer and the weekends . My house is in the woods and as long as we stay home it is nice and quiet. Someday I would love to live in Montana. After a few visits there I feel my heart would sing if I lived there.
I live in San Antonio TX and have lived here for the past 10 years but I have to say, I am not a fan of the hot weather here, We used to live up in the Northeast – Maine, upstate New York, Connecticut – and I would move back to that climate in a heartbeat! Well.. My hometown is El Paso, TX and the best and only thing I like about it is the divine Mexican food. Due to my husband’s military service, we now live outside of Austin, TX which means great bar b que and Round Rock donuts. We also enjoy the out of doors activities, year round.
I am Cheryl and I live half way between Middlebury and Shipshewana, Indiana in the heart of the nation’s 3rd largest Amish Settlement. I was raised on a farm built by my ancestors in 1860 and after spending 25 years as an Air Force wife relocating 18 times I was delighted my husband agreed to bring me “home” to the family homestead in this beautiful communituy. Elkhart and LaGrange Counties, Indiana are home to the famous and beautiful Quilt Gardens and LaGrange County is proud of a newly developed Quilt Barn Tour. One of the many quilt blocks on the tour is on our 1860’s barn. There are also numerous quilt shops within a short driving distance which is a real plus for me!! Our communities are friendly and much slower paced than many and the countryside and homesteads are beautiful and quiet. We have wonderful small town restaurants and shops that sell many items from Amish made furniture to fabric and gifts. Tourists to our area have opportunities to learn about the Amish culture, visit the large flea market in Shipshewana or tour the campus of Notre Dame – a short 30 mile ride into South Bend. I am proud to call our community home and welcome all to visit someday! I love Primitive Gatherings patterns, fabric and wool. It was so much fun to shop in your booth in Grand Rapids! 🙂

I miss the quiet, slower paced lifestyle where everybody knows your name. That said, I don’t think I could ever go back and live there. I have gotten way too accustomed to the amenities of the big city!

I live in a small town (only 80,000!) just SE of Phoenix. I do likke it here. But my most favorite of all places that I have lived – for the scenery alone – was Edmonds, WA. Driving downtown was always a treat as the Puget Sound folded out in front of you!

Hi! I live in Cordova, a suburb of Memphis, TN. This has never felt like my hometown. When we moved here, we planned to stay 5 years, we’ve been here 20. My heart is in the Rocky Mountains.
Well, Lisa, I live in Schuyler, Nebraska. Yes, I definitely consider this my home even though I was not born or “raised” here. I came here almost 50 years ago for my first teaching job. I was going to stay two years and then “move on”. I never left. I really love the people here. We live on the very edge of the city limits on a small lake–we are pretty much out here by ourselves. We enjoy the ducks, geese, deer and other animals who visit us–this morning we had 8 turkeys by our deck! We just got home from a trip to Door County (with a stop at your great shop!!!), Duluth, and Detroit Lakes, MN. It was a wonderful trip but SO GOOD to get home! I think your town is pretty neat too.

I live north of New Orleans in a small rural town in the “hills” of Louisiana – When people gossip about the going ons I don’t like my small town, but when you suffer from a death or disaster people are very supportive – a good place to grow up – the community grew so much after Hurricane Katrina displaced so many people in south louisiana – they came to our area

Ive never felt like this is home. I would say other than the place I was raised, the place where I felt more at home than any other place was when we lived in Laie, Hawaii. I am a native Californian, but don’t hold that against me. I have been at “home” in three other states and loved them all. Hollywood was my birthplace; Hawthorne (home of my classmates the Beach Boys) for school years and now Cypress,CA (formerly Waterville and then Dairy City)… are you bored yet? I met Lisa at Primitives of the Midwest and have been a fan ever since. Love when Lisa and Nick come to Road to California! Would also be less bored if I won the moda offerings..lol

I am Deborah and I live in Alabama in a small community called Harvest, outside Huntsville. We are in Northern AL on the Tennessee border. It is lovely here most of the time (except in the summer when it is hot and humid and in the Spring and Fall when tornadoes sometimes threaten us — the last 2 Springs brought severe tornadoes through our area and caused lots of damage) . The people are friendly and the trees and hills are pretty. I moved here from Southern California and I have to admit my heart is still in CA. I flew back to CA in July and attended the Long Beach Quilt Show where I spent LOTS of time and $$ in the Primitive Gatherings booth. WOW, lots of beautiful things!! I took a class from you in Cullman, AL a couple of years ago. Enjoyed it very much.
I live outside of Wetaskiwin Alberta. It is about half an hour south of Edmonton. Not sure if I love it but I do like it. My home town at heart is back in Ontario just outside Stratford. A small village called Brunner.

I am Linda Wilkinson and I live in Saint Michael, MN, but my hometown is just down the road in Maple Grove. It has changed so much since I was a child, but it is a wonderful city with some nice recreational lakes, parks, schools, shopping, and dining. The only thing they are missing is a quilt shop, but there are some nice ones close by. It is true, I started coming to Menasha because of Primitive Gatherings. I have spent several weekends at the retreat house and cannot say enough good things about Terri’s cooking! For those of you in the St. Michael, MN area that love the PG look, it is approx. a 5-1/2 hour drive, and well worth it.

My heart isn’t tied to one place but to the people I’ve met and shared a laugh or a meal or even just a passing smile. Hown town? Military people always add a question mark to that. After 31+ years of our home being whereever the military sent us, we returned to our home roots of the Pacific Northwest. We picked Sequim, Wa to be our forever hometown and enjoy the beauty of this area and the rest of our lives. I love adding a little wool to my quilts , too. I live in a small town next to the town I grew up in. I have lived within a two mile radius of my childhood home my whole life with the exception of 6 months after I was first married. Neither town is really anything special except to the people who live there. It is HOME.

Hi Lisa, I live in Northwest Indiana with lots & lots of corn fields. What I love best is the old time feeling of our downtown area. There are wonderful restaurants & specialty shops all around. It’s nice when you can walk your dog and stop for a hot dog (sorry). You can take your dog into the ice cream shop, one for me and one for my four legged friend. Smart business lady! We have a wonderful quilt shop in town too! What more could we ask for??

I live in Vernal, Utah and it is best known as “Dinosaurland” because of the Dinosaur National Park and quarry which is close by. I grew up here and raised our children in this small community and we love it–however, our roots go pretty deep into this soil since our grandparents and great-grandparents settled here. I live in New York City. Is it my home town? I feel like it is, but I didn’t grow up here, my parents moved around a lot when I was small and we lived in different places, mostly in the MidWest (and I attended the U. of Wis. in Madison!). New York is my “soul mate” town though for sure. I like the privacy of being in the Big City where no one cares much want you do or what you look like most of the time. I like all the opportunity, the diversity, the art, theater, music, and museums. And I like the people — there is a sense of community here, really there is.

Hi Lisa-I live in Gardner, KS (for the past 25 years) but “home” is Creston, IA. Love Gardner because that’s where my grandchildren live–enough said on that! But, I do spend time with my sister in Creston–stitching wool, quilting and having a good time. I grew up in a small town in north central Wisconsin called Tomahawk. The best thing about living there was we lived on the Wisconsin River. It was like being on vacation 365 days a year. My brothers pooled their paper route money and bought a broken down boat that they restored and turned into a water ski boat! I logged lots of skiing hours behind that boat! We had a beat up duck boat that we paddled in the back bays with to catch turtles for turtle races! After a really bad storm, my brothers rescued a floating canoe! Posted ads for it and it went unclaimed. We still use that canoe today when we go back home to visit Mom and Dad! I wish my kids could have experienced the same carefree, fun summer days that we did!

Your hometown isn’t always where you live now, it’s where you grew up, I live in Georgia now ( and I love Georgia) but my hometown will always be a little town in Southwest Michigan – Lawton. It’s the place where you walk down the street and there are a dozen memories…this is the tree that I fell out of and twisted my ankle. Or we used to go trick-or-treating in this neighborhood and remember this house, Mrs…. the librarian lived there, etc. This blog hop is bring back so many hometown memories. Thanks for sharing yours.

Lisa, you really are the best place in Menasha. I am so happy that my son and daughter-in-law have moved to Greenville so I get to visit your quilt shop even more than I used to. My name is Kim Hartwig and I live in Door County, WI (Brussels) but I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. It won’t take you long to guess which is my favorite. I absolutely love Wisconsin, in Door County you can be as busy or quiet as you want. You can go to Northern Door county with all of the tourists and gift shops or you can stay in Southern Door county where I live for some peace and quiet. Wherever you go there is lots of water, Green Bay on one side and Lake Michigan on the other. I guess that’s why they call us “Cape Cod of the Midwest”. It’s a great place to be! Great restaurants, state parks and lots of fun places to visit.
I’m Betty Jo and live in Plainfield, Illinois. Most people consider it a suburb of Chicago! I do like it here but only because we are close to the big city and also to small county towns. We have the best of both worlds. Your Old Glory Gatherings is great, but then how can you go wrong when you include a sheep?

We’re celebrating 250 years and the past 40 that I’ve been here have seen lots of changes, but it’s a great place to live.

I live in Camrbria,Californina and I must say that I do love it. I love it for the cool weather and I love it because the town bought a ranch and turned it into a park/reserve where I can walk my dogs and enjoy incredible views of the ocean. We have some nice restaurants and some good artsy shopping but the ranch beats everything hands down.

My home is in Warsaw which is located in Western New York about an hour from Buffalo. In the dead of winter I wish my home was in the sunny south, but Warsaw is a small, comfortable, safe village and my heart is here. It was a good place to raise our three boys, who have all married and moved out of New York State.
Hi, I am Lori Kae from DuPont, WA. My hometown is a neighboring city but after my DH retired from the Air Force we returned to our “home state” and built our home. While our hearts are scattered throughout the county this is truly home-we are surrounded by beautiful evergreen trees, fresh air, we can dip our toes in the gorgeous puget sound water daily, we have the breath taking beauty of the majestic Mount Rainier, the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges too and traveling to the ocean is achievable however along with these wonderful gifts come traffic and a high cost of living. We miss the peacefulness, friendships and quaintness of living in a smaller town but being back with our family and having so many outdoor activities accessible is a pretty big blessing too.

I live outside of Howard City Michigan. There is not much in the little town we live outside of. I love the 10 acres we live on but I prefer to drive a little ways so a town nearby with a quilt shop in it.
HI – Love the little pattern! I do love my hometown eventhough I live about 30 miles away now. It is always nice to go back and see all the familiar spots.
I have lived in Ponca City, OK , three different times due to my DH’s transfers although OKC is my hometown. Both places have definitely changed over the years. PC has lots of historic homes/buildings [ex. Marland Mansion, the Palace on the Prairie], parks, and the LA Cann Gardens, etc. The the historic 101 Ranch is near here where Tom Mix was first filmed before heading West to Hollywood and Bill Pickett who invented bulldogging as a rodeo sport. Today, Ree Drummond lives East of here on the famous historic Drummond cattle ranch where her show is filmed for HGTV. She also lives near the Tall Grass Prairie Preserve where the buffalo still roam. As a flatlander, however, I still yearn for Rocky Mts. though I am an Okie at heart.
Hi! I am Jane A., and I live in Manassas, Virginia, a place full of civil war history. It’s pretty nice. I was born and raised i Racine, Wisconsin, and that is the state that I feel I am really from, and will feel that way for the rest of my life. Wisconsin is so filled with beauty, good food, and people like me, daughters of imigrants. My mother, as a young woman, was a house maid, and used to serve the rich beer manufacturing people drinks and food at garden parties back in the 30’s. I will never really feel at home here in Virginia. I was an Army wife for 24 years, so I moved alot, and maybe I feel I still need to move! I have been here since 1989, so I think I’m staying, although we are tempted to move back to Wisconsin. I love quilting, and prefer non-modern style quilts. Thanks for the pattern!
Hi, I’m Jackie Mason. I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For those not familiar with Cedar Rapids, we are known as the cereal capitol because Quaker Oats is located here (remember Captain Crunch?). I haven’t lived in CR all my life. After I was married, my husband and I moved around for about 25 years About 5 years ago, we had the opportunity to move back to Iowa so we decided to go for it. Although my husband would prefer the Florida sunshine, I love being back in my hometown. Although the city has changed, the people haven’t–very friendly and welcoming.
Aiken, SC has been my home for the last 34 years. Growing up in rural New York State, it was quite an adjustment to move to the deep south. However, I have grown to love living here, my children were born and raised here and now my grandchildren are within easy driving distance. In a few hours we can be in the mountains or dipping our toes in the ocean. Aiken has wonderful historic districts and a thriving downtown. Although the summers can be hot and humid ( hooray for air conditioning! ) you can’t beat the mild winters. I don’t miss driving in ice and snow!!

I consider Pittsburgh to be my hometown since I grew up there. But I have lived over half my life in a small town in Kentucky. I like both places pretty well.
I’m Billie in Elgin, Texas. We retired here from Austin. It would be fun to leave somewhere like Vermont at least during the summer. Otherwise, I’m content.

We have lived here for 15 yrs which is the longest we have ever lived anywhere..and I don’t know why we haven’t left yet because it really isn’t “our town” I like my old house, Il ove my studio and we enjoy walking along the nearby river but it just isn’t home! Hi! I’m Tina and I live in Pendleton, Oregon. In about two days, the world famous Pendleton Round Up officially starts! The town is beginning to fill up with people from all over the place and you can just feel the excitement in the air! Pretty much the whole thing is run with the help of volunteers. I’m from Okemos, Michigan, and I do love my hometown. It’s a great place to raise a family – slower pace than a big city, good schools, safe community, lots of convenient shopping, and close to Michigan State University for sporting events, cultural events and lovely walks on campus. I don’t know that it’s my dream town, but it is where I raised my children and where we made our home, and that’s very important to me.

I live in Walnut, Calif. So many people have asked “Where is Walnut? the City made a t-shirt with “Where’s Walnut/” on the front and a map on the back! I have lived here since 1976. Even thought it is only 30 miles from Los Angeles, the beutiful hiking and equestrian trails give it a rural feel. I am proud to be a native born Californian!
I live in Oskosh,WI, but I was born in Cincinnati, OH and lived most of my life in Fond du Lac, WI. I was a G&L kid, transported to Wisconsin with my parents in the late 50’s when Giddings & Lewis bought out Cincinnati Planner. As a child my Heart was in Cincinnati where we went for every Holiday & Vacation until my grandparents died – it wasn’t a Holiday unless you were in the car going there. Before the big highways, it was more interesting, at Christmas you could see all the homes decorated in every town you went thru. Somewhere deep inside me, I know houses should be brick and there should be lots of hills and a really big river with barges, lots of parks – one with a marble slide, you brought waxed paper to sit on the first time you went down it in the Spring. I love violets, I think because I remember stopping at a park to pick some with my Dad every Spring. And getting Opera Creams, hand dipped chocolates from Aglamesis in Oakley, the area of Cincinnati that we lived in when I was little – my brother sends me a box every year for my birthday, he took over that job after our Mom died, just like I took over buying her Red roses for every special date after our Dad died.

My name is Pam Larson and I live in Sunriver Oregon. We are a resort community so the population ebbs and flows. My favorite time of the year is between labor day and memorial day…hardly any tourists. I can actually walk the dog without getting hit by a bicycle being ridden by a teenager. We have lived here full time for 4 years so it’s not my home town…it’s the place we used to vacation and fell in love with so built our dream home here.
We moved here from Portland Or. but my DH and I are both from other places. I lived and went to school in the Denver area but was born in Joliet Ill..but lived in Portland longer than any other place so I guess Portland is my home town..Best thing about Portland is you are 1 1/2 hrs away from the mountains and 1 1/2 hrs away from the beach. AND this is big….they film Grimm there..if you have not seen it try to watch it. They use every part of Portland..makes me home sick. Worst thing of course is all the rain…don’t miss that.

Hello! I am Karen Wheeler, and live in Fremont, CA. I love this place and yet am not from CA, but a small town in Oklahoma, (Idabel). Fremont has a multi-cultural community and that is wonderful. I go visit my family in Oklahoma, but my heart and soul is with our home and family in Fremont. I have been working in wool for a few months and love the example of yours that shows the wool on the patchwork. It is nice to see others comments and know that we are all connected and a community with our shared interests.

I do love it – but must admit the summers are a little humid – however, after living in the Northern Virginia area for 35 years and spending quite a bit of time shoveling snow and sitting in traffic jams, MS is a piece of cake. I live in Long Beach, California and it is a beautiful city to live in. But I will have to admit, it , like all pretty cities in California, have to many people on the roads. There always seems to be a traffic jam somewhere. Three out of my four grandchildren live in Colorado, and I just might call that home someday also. My only bit of sadness comes from the fact that my daughter lives 2,000 miles away. Hi – I am from Eau Claire WI and I do like Eau Claire. But I too love Menasha/Neenah. My best friend from college grew up right down on 9th street from you and she is now living in Neenah on the “stinky lake”. We still get together often and I always feel like I am coming home when we arrive there. Some of my favorite places to eat in Menasha/Neenah is the Cimaron – good fish according to Sue. I don’t like fish. Another place we eat is Waverly – when they take me out on the boat or the Stoned Toad when the sturgeon season is coming around. Of course, I always try to make a stop to the shop – as well as visit Momma Joan. You do have an awesome place to live!

I’m actually from Winslow, Maine…similar to WI in lots of ways. I met you this summer in Raleigh and begged you to come to Maine to one of our Quilt Shows! I love this area – quiet when you need it, but close enough to the big city that you can have excitement and fun when you want it! YOU ARE MY QUILT STAR!!! I was able to meet you at the Spring Quilt Festival. Everything about your booth was warm and welcoming. I was hooked after I joined my first summer BOW a few years ago. I read every detailed instruction and now use your method on all wool projects and attempt to teach others. Your projects warm up my home and dazzle my quilt friends.

We sorta live in our home town. Our home is 10 miles outside where we grew up but we’re very much still in our “stomping grounds” . We love it because we’re in the country with plenty of room for the animals, etc.

First of all, beautiful fabric and little quilt!!!! Gorgeous!!! My little hometown is so special to me. It’s where I live now and just grew up about 5 miles from here on a dirt road. It is where I had my first job. It is a one caution light town and I love it here. Down the road about 10 miles is Abraham Lincoln’s Birthplace National Park and each October we celebrate Lincoln Days. The entire business part of town shuts down and we have a parade, Lincoln look alike contests, rail splitting contests, a quilt show in a 200 year old church and the best food and crafts you can find. Yep, I like just where I am. 🙂

My hometown is in East Wakefield, NH. We have built a log cabin on a small quiet lake where we live year round. I love walking my dog and taking my kayak out. In winter I love to go x-country skiing with the dog. I love it here, close to the ocean and the mountains, and wonderful neighbors.

I’m Joyce and I’ve lived here in Lee’s Summit, Mo for 37 years but my real hometown is about ten miles away. Thats where my family all used to live. All are gone now so I don’t go back. This is a good town, just doesn’t have my whole heart.
I live within 10 miles of where I grew up and wouldn’t have it any other way…. My hometown is Burdick, KS….a town of almost 100 with a rich Swedish heritage. Five generations of my family have attended the same church. Our roots are deep, but my cousins have scattered across the globe. A great combination of providing roots, but sprouting wings. You are absolutely my favorite designer!

It was my grandparents hometown. They have passed on, it’s not quite the same as I remember it, but I hope my grandchildren are making happy memories here now.
My hometown is Knox, PA. Very, very small, but when I go through town now, I don’t know alot of the people anymore. I only live 20 minutes from there. There really isn’t anything great or special about Knox, it’s just home!

I really LIKE my hometown, not sure LOVE is in order. What I do love is living on Long Island. I think it gives you the best of all worlds; the lovely 4 seasons, fall is fantastic here, the ability to go to beaches and also into the city very easily. I have lived in my hometown for 21 years and yet it still doesn’t feel like home. Sad, but true. It is Cottage Grove, MN a bedroom community of St. Paul, MN. A fine town of 35,000 but nothing real special about it that calls to me. Now, if it had a quilt shop, that would help! Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.

I’m Leslie, I live in Kenora Ontario Canada. I like it here, but my heart is in BC, on Vancouver Island, Tofino area! But anywhere I can see water and waves! (Not the bathtub either, LOL!). I like we are about 2 hrs from our next biggest community, Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are also about 2 hrs from the Canadian-USA border and into Minnesota or North Dakota. Lots of fresh air, blue skies and blue lakes, pickeral fish and small town living!

I was raised in a very, very small community attending a one-room grade school in which I was the only girl in my grade school. I graduated from the only high school in our county. When I started to college, I attended the only university in our state at the time. Now I live 1,000 miles away in a suburb of Tulsa. This has been “homw” for almost 40 years. I lived my adult life here and my roots are my roots. I am a blend of the two. My daughter has moved to Albuquerque and has two children and I just cannot get used to the desert. I long for the hills and snow – not sand, although there is snow once ocassionally in the desert. Appalachia is rich is crafting!

My hometown for the last 37 years is the little town of Albin, Wy. My “real” hometown is Baggs, WY. I love to go home…..beautiful little valley. I have enjoyed looking through your blog and do love your little project. That would be fun to make. I like the addition of the wool. Great giveaway!
My hometown is in the deep south. I live in Central Florida, and even though I was not born here, I feel that it is my hometown. My parents both grew up here, but lived in the Big Apple when I was born. I’ve lived here most of my life, and would not change it for anything. Thanks for the fabulous pattern and amazing giveaway.
That is a really nice give away. I moved to my husbands home town when we got married 33 years ago in Hopewell Cape NB. It is the town that has the Hopewell Rocks. The world’s largest flower plots. I over look the river and have my quilt frames sitting in fron of the window to watch the change in the tides. It is very relaxing.

I live in Cameron, NC. I do not consider this my hometown. I do not know what I claim as a home town. I was born in Indiana moved when I was 10 to Pennsylvania. I married my husband a Marine at the age of 21 and have moved 9 times since then. My parents have moved away from where I graduated high school so I can not even claim where they live as my home town.

I live in a very small village in the heart of the metro Detroit area. We are suffering hard times here with the recent hits the auto industry has taken. We are a little neglected and have scars and bruises around here but I can’t help loving my hometown. I love the down to earth people we have around here. The state of Michigan is so beautiful and has a little bit of everything. My heart will always be here even if my body goes to warmer regions in the winter.

First off I want to say ‘WOW’, what a generous giveaway and pattern! Thanks so much! I got to meet you this past spring at Int. Quilt show in Cinn. I just started an online etsy shop and carry a lot of wool appl. patterns, including yours! It is my hope/dream to someday own a primitive needlework shop and put our town back on the map. LOL (I used to own a cross stitch shop several yrs. ago).
I live in Ashland, Ky. (home of country singers -the Judds and actor/game show host – Chuck Woolery. I was born here, but lived in northern Oh. most of my life, lived several other places and came back here to my ‘roots’. It is beautiful here in the Spring and Fall and we actually have a huge park in the middle of town called ‘Central Park’ which gets all decked out at Christmas time. So yes, I have grown to love it here.
We are very fortunate to have several quilt shops in our area, but not much wool applique/patterns, etc. I am hoping to change that in the near future.

I’m Donna currently living in Panama City, FL. This is home. I am happy here; however, part of me will always belong to the graceful, serene life I remember from Columbus, MS.
I live in an average town right on then IL/IN border-Lansing, IL. Nothing really special about it except that it’s where my husband grew up, we raised our famil here and now they’re raising their families here….so, I guess it’s just become “home” because home for me is where my family is! We are conveniently located about 30 min. from always-exciting Chicago and about an hour east of the Michigan border with its beautiful beaches and wineries….so it’s not a bad place to live at all! I grew up in Neenah WI, the other side of the tracks. I moved to Menasha WI when I was married in 1967. Eight years ago we moved back to my hometown of Neenah. No big moves in my life. I think WI is a beautiful state and I don’t plan on moving again.
I am from Kaukauna home of the original Kaukauna Cheese spread now actually made in your home town of Little Chute. Recently moved to the Town of Vandenbroek which is rural Kaukauna/Little Chute. I live now in a small country community near Ozark, – Bertha, Alabama. Located right in the middle of peanuts and cotton farming country. Cotton is king! We have great Autumn festivals, jamborees, pumpkin patches, corn mazes. You would love to visit here in the Autumn season.

Hi Lisa! I love your posts and follow your blog all the time. I met you and Nick this past February when you were in Lakeland and my friend and I bought lots of goodies from you. We love all of your fabric and wools. My name is Theresa and I live in Cocoa FL, yes we are near Cocoa Beach and the famous Ron Jon’s Surf Shop. I grew up on Merritt Island which is 17 miles from here and that is “home” to me and always will be. Merritt Island use to be a quiet area but now it is built up which is rather sad. I’ve seen so many changes since my family moved here on my eighth birthday. I went to high school with Tony Gayton who wrote and produced, along with his brother Joe, “Hell on Wheels”. Tony also wrote “Murder by Numbers” and Joe wrote “Uncommon Valor”. I also worked with Joe at Kennedy Space Center before he ventured out to CA. There are a lot of fun things to do here. We also have five quilt shops in the county. I hope to see you at another quilt show!

My home for the past 9-ish years has been Troy, IL. For about 25 years before that, my home was wherever the Air Force sent my husband. Truly, home is where your family is. I know this because prior to marriage, I considered my home to be Belleville, IL sort of because that is where my family settled after my Dad retired from the Air Force. My parents’ families are mostly in NJ … would that be my home? Or, strangely enough, should I consider Tripoli, Libya (that is in Africa) my home since that is where I was born — my Dad was actually stationed there years ago! Again, I feel that my home is where my family is.
PS I love so many of your projects and I actually visited your shop about 5 years ago when my husband had a fishing tournament at Winneconne!

I live in a suburb of San Francisco called Tiburon. It is a bedroom community for the city, and I love love love it here. I moved from smoggy old LA about 30 years ago, and the thing that drew me here was the clear skies. I hated being able to see the air I breathed, and after finishing school, I hi-tailed it out of there and have been up in the bay area ever since.

Hi! I’m Gwen. I live in a small, rural farming community about 7 miles from my childhood home. A couple years ago, my husband and I built a new home right in the middle of a 40 acre plot of land– directly between my Mom & Dad’s home and my oldest daughter and her husband’s home. Just up the road is the homeplace of my Grandma and Grandpa– who cleared the land to build their home many, many years ago. I love it here– sometimes at night, when I hear the distant whining of the transfer trucks as they travel down the nearby interstate, I go back in my mind to those precious times when my sisters and I would spend the night with our Grandparents… precious memories! 🙂

Hello from NW Iowa! I’m a 30-something PhD student, quilter, wife and pet parent. Even though in the ten years we’ve been together my husband and I have lived in Nebraska and Ohio for graduate school and now Iowa for his job and my final degree, I grew up in a very small town in upstate NY. The area was very typically rural and agricultural, but surrounded by the Adirondack mountains. It is that environment that I miss the most – the forest and dampness because of all the lakes and swamps which also meant that the temperature was lower as well. My heart belongs to the area, but not my hometown per se (since it was so small less than 200 people). Thanks for sharing… and allowing all of us to do so as well.
I grew up in Chilton, Wi but after living in Green Bay (Go Packers!!) for over 25 years, I consider it my hometown.

I’m currently away from home studying at uni but my parents live in Townsville, sunny North Queensland, Australia. It has beautiful views of the ocean and a short ferry ride away is Magnetic Island. We’ve always lived near the sea so I grew up fishing and snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef on my holidays. Townsville also has some really great restaurants. When I’m at home I love going to the Japanese restaurant Gyo, they do the best fried chicken. I definitely love going back there.

My heart always yearns and looks forward to trips home, however, over the years I have realized how much living in different parts of the country and being exposed to new places, people, and experiences has meant to me. I think we can all find a ‘little bit of home’ no matter where our lives take us!
I live in Vermontville, Michigan a small town south west of Lansing, Michigan about 25 miles. It is know for its Maple Syrup Festival in the spring. I love Michigan with it’s beautiful colors in the fall and the Great Lakes. Thanks for the giveaway.
I grew up as an Air Force Brat so hometown is a relative term. I graduated from HS in Albuquerque, NM and that’s where my folks settled down. Love the high mountain desert, but I’ve lived in Texas for the past 30 years so this is where my family is…spread across the state mind you! Lol
I live in Albert Lea, Minnesota and enjoy living here but my heart will always call Belle Plaine, Iowa (where I grew up) home! It just feels right when I go back to visit my parents!! Thanks for sharing
My name is MaryLou, and I’ve left my heart in my hometown, San Francisco. Believe it or not, the City is quite small in area, only 49 sq. miles. And it’s small enough to still have a hometown atmosphere.
Hi Lisa!!! I am an proud Air Force wife, and we were (by the grace of God) re-stationed back in my hometown of San Antonio, TX. We live out in the country near a small town called La Vernia, and there isn’t much here. So I would say my heart is in a different place…the Dakotas. 🙂 We took a 4,100 miles roadtrip up north to see the prairie, and wow…I love the prairie, and anything primitive/country/old/Laura Ingalls Wilder, etc. So you see, my heart is to have 4 seasons (we don’t get that here), to have a nice plot of land and be more like they were in the old days…working on the farm and living the simple life. 🙂 Thank you for your super generous giveaway! Hi, I’m Helen and currently live in Smithfield, NC. I grew up in northwest Missouri and feel like that is “home”. With my husband’s transfers and new jobs, we’ve been in NC for 16 years so this is “home” to my sons. My husband took a new job in St. Louis so will now be moving back “home” to be with him after 6 years of being separated because of job situations and company bankruptcies. I love living in West Jordan, UT. It’s a suburb of SLC and rural enough for my likings. One of the best features is the historic Gardner Village with all it’s cute little shops. Archibald Gardner was commissioned by Brigham Young to build a flour mill at the south end of SLC. Probably 25 or 30 years ago, the owners relocated small cabins to the site and converted them into little shops. Of course, my favorite is Pine Needles, the cutest and most inviting quilt store this side of the Rockies. I absolutely love Primitive Gatherings fabric and patterns. I think the little quilt is adorable. I have lived in Idaho all my 50+ years and I love it. We have lived in several towns which all became “Home”. We have a special place now which God has blessed us with ..I never thought I would live in such sweet surroundings near Notus, Id. 29 years married to a good man also makes home where we are with our two special dogs. My “hometown” is Merced, CA–Gateway to Yosemite National Park. I’m originally from St. Louis, MO. This part of California suits me better…the weather is more pleasant. The town is surrounded by almond orchards but the farms grow so many fruits, nuts and vegetables that the local farmer’s market is a great stop on a Saturday.

I am Martina and live in Switzerland in Basel since 11 years and I love this place. It has like small town charakter but all the facilities of a city. Still it remains small and cozy. But before that I lived nearly 8 years in Istanbul in Turkey which was absolutely the opposite with 15 Million people and very crowded. But I really miss this place too. Especially the streetmarkets. But most of all the people I got to know and love. So I think you are home there, where you can connect with the people around and just feel at home. If this is a place with 15 Millons or just 200’000 people,it does’t matter. Thanks so much for sharing and just love the little project!
I live in Vinton Iowa and it is a swell little town. I grew up in the country about an hour from here and wouldn’t mind being out in the country again someday.
I live in Anchorage, Alaska and considering that I have lived here over 20 years it is home. It is the longest I have ever lived anywhere. I am an AF brat and a Navy wife, so for most of my life home was where ever I hung my hat so to speak. We settled here when my youngest was 3 turning 4 and it is home to us now.
Hi Lisa! I live in a small village near Delft in the Netherlands, but I’ve always been happy to live so near Delft and all of it’s history. There’s so much to see and do there and we always go by bicycle. So I guess I feel more related to Delft than to any other town I’ve ever lived.

Hi, I live in Shelby, NC and yes I love my town, but I have never lived anywhere else, I still live in the same apts. except a different one, that I grew up in, we have the Best BBQ, and Livermush, made in this county, If you have never tried Livermush you should, its a breakfast food, or we make sandwiches out of it and we even have a Livermush festaville each year…..we also Host the World Series of Little League Baseball game….beautiful in the fall also when the leaves change colors…..

Hi, waving at you from the sandy shores of Lake Michigan, in Muskegon. Favorite place in my hometown is that large lake between us. It is the destination year around for many of us. Tho the ice fisherman like the inland lakes in the winter time when they are frozen over thick with ice.
P.S. Do I love my hometown? Of course! I grew up in LeRoy, IL which is identical to El Paso, only 45 minutes away. It’s the same town only the names and faces are changed. One thing I love about LeRoy is the circle park with an old time bandstand, lots of memories driving around that circle park downtown as a teenager. The park even has a statue of an Indian chief donated by my great-grandfather many years ago. So, guess my heart is still in LeRoy because of family roots, though I’ve lived in El Paso 43 years.

And we have a wonderful quilt happening…there, it may be famous, even… Cabin Creek Quilts. it is a way quilting has been able to stay alive in WV and elsewhere, and a way for quilters of the region to make money, their quilts have sold worldwide. They display and have a contest annually at the WV Cultural Center, Charleston, WV. The movement started in the late ’60’s and Sharon Rockefeller and APPLERED ( Applachain Regional Development Agency) were the prime motivators at that time. My heart is a hillbilly.
How great that your shop is the best thing in town!! I am a Cajun girl who now lives in NW Alabama in the area known as “The Shoals.” While I miss the good seafood and family back home, I love it here in Alabama! The scenery is beautiful and we have so many choices when it comes to shopping, etc. We originally lived in the largest city in this area but moved to a small community at the start of this year to be closer to our grandson. It’s a longer drive to work, but so worth it!
My name is Sandi and I live in Henderson, MN. It’s not the town I grew up in but I love living here. We came here after living 33 years in a Minneapolis suburb. When I first visited Henderson, I was amazed at how much it reminded me of my hometown of Lehigh, Iowa. We were looking to move to the country so I told my husband he had to come and see what I had found. In just a few weeks we bought a lot out here and a few years later built our house. My heart is here most often but also often in my hometown of Lehigh where my mother and brother still live. I love it that I can enjoy times in both places. 🙂

Hi, My name is Colleen and I live in Draper, UT which is on the outskirts of Salt Lake City. I’m like you. I’ve lived here for 20 yrs now but I still feel that my real hometown is Huntington Beach, Calif. Draper is a very nice place to live, but when you’ve lived most of your life by the beach, well it’s hard to let that go.
I moved to Bluffdale, UT last year, 12 min (exactly) from my old home in Draper. Kicking and screaming the whole way, crying every night, even sometimes now. Even though I am so close I don’t see my friends on a daily basis, and I am trying to integrate into my new neighborhood, making new friends, helping the kids make friends. After a year, I just brought out my sewing machine – I lost my sewing room when we moved. That’s another reason for my mourning! But having a house and a happy family is what’s most important!
I live in Manchester, NH – only been here about 25 years so I’m a newbie. The Merrimack River runs through Manchester and I live on the west side of the river. The area I live in was, until fairly recently, primarily French Canadian. We used to joke that we were the token non-French people, weren’t related to anyone on the West Side and didn’t go to school with anyone. Most of my quilting friends grew up in the neighborhood, married local fellows and still live here. They can trace their families back to France and their Manchester roots back to their Canadian ancestors coming to work for the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company, which designed the City. My family moved a lot when I was a kid because of my Dad’s job (he built roads), so Manchester is my home – where I’ve lived the longest.

My name is Joyce, I am a mother of three married sons and have seven grandchildren. I was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom until my youngest went to kdg. and I went back to teaching. My home town is in the Lake Geneva area which we share with most of Illinois during the summer. We moved four times as my husband was also a teacher/coach and he took different jobs. Our final move brought us to Edgerton,WI. We are only 35 miles away from our original home but don’t get there often.
Edgerton was a bedroom community for me as I kept my job and commuted for 23 yrs. I didn’t get to know people other than at the football games. My boys talked about friends that I didn’t have a clue who they were.
Needless to say I was not a happy camper. Luckily someone asked if I would be interested in helping on the
Relay for Life Commitee. That experience changed my life around. I not only met new friends but the best was a group of quilters. I never had quilted before but really had a lot of fun learning.(still do) It took a long time to feel “at home”here but I do and now I enjoy my home because it feels like home. My two dogs are rooting for me and want yours to know they will help with the project if I am lucky enough to be a winner!

My name is Martha and I live in Oklahoma City. I was born and grew up in a mennonite community in Belize Central America. I don’t really miss it much, since I was a teenager when we moved away. I still feel like Belize is my home country, but am happy I’m not living in a 3rd world country. I’m proud of the many beauties of Belize, and love Belizean food (more or as much as the German mennonite food I grew up on–since I lived another 5 years in Belize outside of the mennonite community), but I’m happy to live in Oklahoma City, where I have lived for the past 12 years. My passion for quilting is definitely from my Mennonite heritage. I’m not passionate about this hometown of mine, but more so for my family, my church family and my quilting. I took up quilt making when I received a quilt for a wedding gift 18 years ago. I have then turn my BFF into a quilter. Hi Lisa, I live in a little town called Monson, MA. We were originally about 8,000 people until we experienced a very desistating tornado last year. It was amazing how our little town “pulled-together” and helped each other out!!!! Made me very proud to be live in our town and have our children grow-up here 🙂
I was raised in Chinook WA a little town in the southwest corner of the state right at the mouth of the mighty Columbia River. Nearly 40 years ago I moved to the Portland OR area and currently live jusrt across the Columbia River from Portland in Vancouver WA. I love this area, Yes, we get a lot of rain but that makes everything nice and green. it’s rarely super-hot and we get little, if any, snow. We’re a couple hours from the ocean beaches, an hour or two from Mt. Hood for snow sports and a couple hours from high desert country. I can’t imagine living anywhere else! I’ve visited your shop and loved it!

My name is Ginger. I grew up in Las Cruces, NM. Now, we live in Roswell, NM. I have lived in Roswell for 35 years and it still doesn’t feel like a “hometown” to me. But Las Cruces is not home either. Roswell is however, famous for a 1947 incident involving a “flying saucer” and the US Air Force cover-up of the “incident”. It has been fun over the past 15 years to learn all about the people who were involved and the specifics of the “incident.” Information about the flying saucer crash/the aliens/and the cover-up were all kept secret for 50 years until 1997. Many little “industries” have begun based on this story. One that I have enjoyed has been the fabrics and patterns that have been created based on the “aliens” and “flying-saucer”..I don’t know what really happened, but some of the people who were involved were very credible and honest people. Fifty years of silence created a great bit of mystery. So. that’s the story of the town where I live. I do love Moda fabrics and think they are great! I Love the Primitive Gatherings fabrics very much! And would love to win one of the prizes! Thanks so much for the project–9-patch and wool is a wonderful combination!

We live in Chiba, Japan. We moved here at the beginning of May and are here for 3 years for my husband’s work. We love it here and are thoroughly enjoying ourselves, but yes, my heart hometown will always be back in Adelaide, Australia where my family and friends are. It’s especially hard at times as we found out only weeks after moving here that my sister is due next February – our first niece/nephew! I am so grateful that I’ll be able to go back soon after the baby is born, but it’s so hard not being there to help her through pregnancy and in those hard first few weeks/months after birth 🙁

So we have alot of them . I live now in Gatlinburg , TN — everyone loves this town !! Over ten million visitors every year just to the smokies nat’l park ——– but i first discovered you when your shop was picked as one of the best in the Quilt Sampler magazine—– by then i was doing primitives and had my own shop — i have always been a stitcher and quilter and just love fabrics . But most of all I love your shop and all you do—– I think I must have every pattern you have !!! I cannot wait to see you when you visit the northern va area in oct and to meet you ! My hometown is Poughkeepsie, NY. an hour or so north of NY City along the Hudson River. Beautiful and rich in history, you will find a Vanderbilt Mansion, CIA (Culinary Institute), FDR Presidential Library and Vassar College, to name a few. Lush and green in the summer, it’s breath-taking in the fall with intense reds, golds and oranges!

I have lived in the same town most of my life. It’s a small town, quiet and what makes it great are my kids and grandbaby also live here to. Many special friends also live here. My home town is Corning, Iowa.
I live in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, which is in Lancaster County, otherwise known as Amish Country. I am originally from Long Island, NY, but have been here for 20 years. I love it here, though I do miss the food in New York (especially pizza!). Despite the fact that many of the Amish quilt and the area is known for Amish quilts, there are not an abundance of quilt shops here.

My heart belongs to Tjöme, a small island off the coast of Norway. Lots of salty water, winds coming from everywhere, mountains nearby and it’s where I grew up – my parents still live there. And then I ended up on the plains right in the middle of Sweden – not a salty drop to be seen, just farms everywhere and not even the tiniest of mountains on the horizon… Needless to say, I wouldn’t have lived here if it weren’t for my husband! 🙂

I’m Diane from rural Tiffin, Iowa, a small town just outside of Iowa City. It’s my husband’s hometown where we enjoy raising three children. I used to travel some with my husband on business trips and always focused my time on checking out quilt shops along the way. I found my way to Primitive Gatherings once and brought home quite a collection! Although I haven’t managed to get back to the store, I did share my love of your products, especially your fabric lines with friends. Believe it or not one of them is more addicted than I! She once told me she needed to stop visiting the website because she’d been ordering too often and her husband was noticing all of the packages in the mail. I believed her last fall when she was at the quilt show in Des Moines at your booth paying for her items and she received a call from Primitive Gatherings called from Wisconsin about another order!!! The kids are young and keep me too busy now, but eventually my friends and I will get back there. In the meantime, looking forward to seeing you again soon in Des Moines.

I grew up on a Saskatchewan grain farm and had what I believe to be an ideal childhood before I moved to the big city (maybe not so big at the time but it’s rapidly getting bigger now). My heart and my family is all right here, though honestly, I could do with a little less winter.

I live just outside of Smithville, OH–as my kids would tell you: People population 1,800-cow population 6,000! There is ONE traffic light, which is set to blink only, at 9PM at night! (you can tell we’re a big town!) There are beautiful views of the OHIO Valley, and some very nice quilt shops in this part of OH! I was born & raised in MN, so have driven through Wisconsin many times–in fact, spent some time on my honeymoon in the Eau Claire County jail for a speeding violation–that’s another story! Who am I? A frustrated quilter who has to be happy stealing a few minutes here and there, when I would rather be sewing all my waking moments! My hometown is a little harder to answer, seeing as I am in limbo between two different houses on opposite sides of the river. The old house and town… Hate it. The new one? absolutely <3 it! I am Carrie, I haven’t lived in my hometown for 36 years, Cottage Grove, Oregon. It is a small town and my mother lives there. It is a town that I know like the back of my hand and I think that counts for something.
My home growing up was a old home with very cool woodwork, dad thought it was to expensive to heat so he lowered the ceilings. I understand now but I sure was sad to see the woodwork get wacked.
I think family makes home feel like home.
Home these days is in Bend, Oregon. It has wonderful quilting and quilters. It is a beautiful place and maybe some day you will visit. hint, hint!

My current town is Suntree, Florida, located on the Space Coast. I like it here most of the time except in September/October — I get horribly homesick for fall! There is no fall here, no one decorates for fall, no leaves change color, no apples, etc. Try explaining fall and winter to a 5-year-old who has never seen either! When I was selling my house, I had a group of realtors come through and they decided that my house wasn’t selling because of my quilts and stitching and I had to take it down. “No one does ‘country’ in Florida!” they said. I packed it all away, repainted, and put up cheap, tacky, tourist-y decorations and it sold. At times like that I wish I was back in North Carolina!

I am Gloria and I was born and raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan and I now live in Charlotte, NC. My husband and I have lived in 5 other cities but we love living in the South. I love all the trees in Charlotte and that we have something blooming every month. I don’t miss the Michigan, Iowa and Ohio winters! I would love to visit your shop, who knows…..I may travel your way! I hope to be at a show where you are vending so I can see your wonderful booth!

I have lived in my current town for one year, and my heart is definetely elsewhere! But I am not sure where… actually I do: we lived in Seattle before, many miles away now, and only for two years, but I do miss it. I have moved a lot, between countries, so hometown is a hairy issue.
I currently live in Scandia, MN, but i can still so easily call my parents farm by Woodville, WI my home. Evn my kids say they want to live in WI when they grow up, and i am pretty sure I will be back there some day too. My roots run daap!
Sweet home Chicago is truly home for me. There’s just no other city in the world quite like it. I do love to travel, but it’s always nice to come home! Love your fabric and the sweet little project, Lisa!! Have been a big fan of yours from way, way back!!
I am in the Des Moines area and a big part of why I love it here is the great Quilt show in early Oct each year with AQS. Lots of quilts, lots of great vendors, including Primitive Gatherings, and lots of fun times! My heart is at Tablerock Lake near Branson, MO where I grew up, but for now, I am happy here!! My hometown is Cedar City Utah. It’s a small town in Southern Utah. I wasn’t born there but it is my hometown now 😉 I wouldn’t dream of being anywhere else 🙂
I am Judy and I live in Morris, Illinois. My favorite part of my town is family and friends. Home is where your heart is and my heart is with the ones I love. We have lived many places and that always rings true.

Cindy here. I live in a small rural east Texas town named Emory. There is not much here, but I love it. I don’t see myself living anywhere else. Some people don’t like small towns because everyone knows your business. I like going to the store and having kids say “Hi Mrs. C.”. Even though my kids have grown and gone, their friends and their siblings know who I am and will talk to me. The UPS guy is great…he will deliver my package where ever I am at. One year he kept up with my part time schedule and knew what job I was at on what day or if I was at home. Maybe I order too much online if he actually noticed??? Love the chance to have some candy or a whole “baking kit”.

I live in Elizabethtown, PA. My heart has never been here. it has really been hard to answer some of the giveaway questions on this blog hop. My heart is in a place I have never lived, but heave spent a good deal of time there…..Budapest, Hungary. If I didn’t have three adorable grands living in Pittsburgh, I would move there in a heartbeat.
I live in a small town Xenia, OH. My heart is really with my first home town which is Butterfield, MN which only had a population of 600 when I was raised there. It was a great little community to be brought up in where everyone knew everyone and looked out for each other. Doors were never locked and coffee was always brewing. Would love to live in a town like that again. Love your pattern and am so hoping to win!
I love your block! The stars are so true to the fabric design. I have an addiction to everything red white and blue and Moda have really nailed this collection. I moved away from my ‘home’ Manchester,UK over 7 years ago to be a country girl in the Wye Valley. It took years to feel like home and adjust to country life…but I did. I couldn’t imagine anything else now. At first, to cope, I used to get my ‘fill’ of Manchester, its nightlife, its shops, family and friends almost bi-monthly and now I have trouble stopping them visit me! They have come to love it here too. Ultimately, Manchester is still ‘home’. its my roots, I can’t imagine moving back but I will never forget it. They may take the girl out of Manchester, but they will never take Manchester from the girl.
Hi Lisa, I’m Linda from Lawrenceville GA, northeast of Atlanta. Can’t wait to see what wonderful things you will have at the Expo in October! My hubby and I have moved 14 times since we were married (in Ohio), all job related, so I have lots of hometowns! I think my favorites, so far, have been the Philadelphia area and Summerville SC, near Charleston. I have loved working with wool for some time now and just finished one of your snowman framed pictures. Too cute. Well, I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela but the closest to a hometown is where I am living now, beautiful Galt-On-The-Grand, Cambridge, Ontario. This is such a charming town, founded by Scots so lots of stone buildings with the Grand River running right through the middle of the historic city centre – love it!

I live in Merced, CA and I would not call this my hometown. I really would love to move somewhere smaller, a town from an earlier time when things were simpler and safer.
I’m from Huntington Beach, CA and love it, for its beachy beauty but mostly because it is home. I live in rural Oregon now, and like the rural life, too. Here, our house feels like “home” but HB will always be home.
Hi Lisa – I always love to see one of your posts in my inbox, and I can’t wait to see you in Houston! I’m from Barry’s Bay, Ontario Canada – population 1200. The nearest quilt shop is over an hour away, thank goodness for internet shopping. I love my hometown, it was a great place to raise my 5 children, who all moved to the city to pursue their education. We have a lot of beautiful lakes and scenery – not much else going on though. Thank goodness for quilting!!!
These fabraics are so-o-o beautiful! My adopted home town is beautiful Fountain Valley, California. I have been living here for over 15 years. I love the town and all of the people here. It is close to the beach (3-1/2 miles!), yet close to get to see my wonderful family members. It is hard to think of living anywhere else.
I’m Deb and we recently moved to Henderson, NV to be close to the kids and grandkids but I consider Destin, FL my hometown!
I live in Armidale, Australia, but was born in a coastal town about 500km away. Where I live now is in a rural setting, high in altitude, with spectacular waterfalls between here and the coast.
