I have had many requests to offer this specialย during the 12 days so here it isโฆ..by popular demand
Day 1 Juki Sewing Machineย
Now I know we pretty much all have a sewing machineโฆor two or three or even moreโฆBut I just have to talk about the sewing machine I use 99% of the timeโฆIt is my #1 Needful thingโฆMost of you probably have never heard of Jukiโฆso let me just say they are not new to the marketโฆJuki is well known in the garment industry and are mostly industrial machines. ย I think I have had a Juki for about 9 years nowโฆI also own 2 Berninas, 1060 and a 1530, and a couple of featherweightsโฆone black and one white. I confess this to you so you also know what I am comparing to and you all know I teach all across the country and have stitched on many machines.
I bought the Juki with the intention to use it as a second machine to have set up for machine quilting my little quilts, and also so I didnโt have to change the walking foot from my regular foot on my Berninaโฆthat would have been nice, right?โฆJuki has entered the quilt world with a semi-industrial machine for quilters. ย Here are a few of the features that the Juki machines haveโฆall metalโฆno plastic bobbins, no plastic feet, ย comes with all sorts of feet including 2 free motion feet and a walking foot, a larger 9โณ opening between the body and the arm, so machine quilting would be easier to handle. ย It has a nice extension table, this is nice for retreats, I have it embedded in my table usually. ย The machine ONLY stitches straight. ย Now this might be an issue for some, but I was only going to use this for machine quiltingโฆThe fact that it only stitches straight is actually a plusโฆnice tension all the time, single hole throat plate . ย It holds large cones as well as regular threadโฆIt has an automatic thread cutter, automatic needle threader , knee lift and stitches 1500 stitches per minute or something like that, in other words it is FAST.
After stitching on this machine and using it. ย I did not want to stitch on anything else. ย It โpiecesโ beautifullyโฆI didnโt have to hang on to my threads at the start, the feed dogs are nice and close together and ย fed my little pieces in nicely. ย Having the single hole meant my piecing wasnโt sucked down into that oblong holeโฆ and againโฆI could stitch, cut my thread with my foot(or there is a button, but I like my hands free to hold on to my patches) knee lift my presser foot and be on to the next thingโฆI especially love piecing triangle paper on the Juki for all the reasons I just statedโฆNow I know being fast really should not be an issue, right? We want to be accurate! ย But let me tell you, if I am stitching strips, borders or you name itโฆfast is handyโฆI tried going back to my โregularโ machine to piece onโฆit was almost painful!!! Just shoot meโฆI loan this machine at The Gathering, but it comes with a warningโฆif you stitch with it you WILL be going home with it! ย I think only one person didnโt buy one after she stitched on it for a weekendโฆlolโฆThey also have updated the Juki recentlyโฆI have a TL98Q, now they make a TL2010 Q1, they have updated to an LED lightโฆthey have added a Turtle and a Hare button, if you want to control how fast it can goโฆand they changed the foot pedal, a bitโฆI love my 98 and the features they added do not make a difference to meโฆso I am keeping my 98.
Here is the only con to my Jukiโฆit is heavyโฆbut it is all metal! ย You canโt have metal parts and it be light!โฆI think of it like todayโs featherweight-but it is not light. ย Anyone can work on a Jukiโฆit is a basic machine, it has no computerโฆit just needs to be oiled and used and it is happy!
So if you are ever in the market for a machine, please check out the Jukiโs and you can read all the technical words I should have used to explain it. ย They now have a presence at the larger quilt shows and will soon come out with a long arm, that will be most reasonably priced. ย I do sell the Juki 2010Q1 at my storeโฆI could sell other machines but remember what I said, I only sell what I useโฆtherefore I sell the Jukiโs. ย I am placing the Juki 2010Qi on sale now until the end of the year at a special of $899-(yesโฆnot a typo) including shipping. ย This is a great deal. ย We will order more for this same price as long as you order before the end of the year. ย JUKIย ย ย In 2014 they will go back to $999.00 still a great price when you think about what you all get with this machine! ย Please allow a few weeks for deliveryโฆwe will not charge your card until we are shipping it.
If you purchased a Juki from last years 12 daysโฆPLEASE write a comment about it! ย I will also pick more winners from the comments on this postโฆso please comment you have a good chance at winning something!
With my new studio almost completeโฆ2014 will be an exciting yearโฆ.videos, stitch-a-longs and more great projects from Primitive Gatherings…
Thanks for sharing all these 12 days of different needful things. This gives me a good idea of what is out there. A lot of the quilt shops around here have closed.
I absolutely love my Juki. Mine is 9 years old, and I would not be without it. Not only do I use it for quilting/sewing, but I have mended heavy horse blankets, bell boots (horse), boat covers, you name it, and it never skips a beat. Amazing. Just last weekend I repaired one of my leather boots with it! I also own 2 Berninas and a featherweight, so I know exactly what you’re talking about Lisa! Merry Christmas!!
I would love a workhorse…so many times my machine can’t handle what I am sewing. My biggest gripe is how I have to hold my threads when I start. Must try out this machine!
I purchased the Juki after reading Lisa’s review last year. I love it so much, that my Bernina stays packed up for retreats and the Juki gets used every day for piecing and small project quilting. You will not regret getting your hands on this machine-it is awesome
I just ordered the Flying Geese chart, hoping it makes this chore easier! I love Jukis, can’t beat their quality! Someday will add this to my collection.
I love the Juki, it’s a workhorse and so easy. You just sit and sew, so you sew more. And it simply does not break. No error messages or surprises, so no unexpected downtime just when you want to finish a project. And, it’s a fine looking machine.
Lisa,
I would love, love, love a machine like yours…I have a very basic machine A White Quilters Star that I quilt with does a nice job but have seen yours and am tempted. Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
I used to be a Bernina dealer. When I closed my dealership, I kept my 1530 thinking I would never need another machine in my lifetime. Well, after reading your review, I just might have to rethink this.
A girl can never have too many sewing machines! I have 3! It’s nice to hear first hand how machines work, as there are many to choose from. Happy Holidays to all!
Wow, I wish I had the budget right now for another machine, the Juki sounds wonderful! Not sure if I could keep up with a machine that stitches that quickly – I imagine there is a learning curve! I will definitely keep this in mind for my future wish list! Have a very Merry Christmas!
I never heard of this machine before but you are so tempting me….automatic needle threader and cutter…that would be a treat.
I just wanted to thank you for all the tips, fabric, patterns and inspiration you have passed along this year and I’m really looking forward to what you have in store for us in the new year.
Merry Christmas,
Leanne
I have several machines. my DIL was getting into quiltig and had a very inexpensive machine. she was becoming frustrated. so being the good MIL, i gave her my juki…… oh how i miss that machine! But my DIL is going great guns on quilting and doing a fantastic job! AND is no longer frustrated, unless she has to rip something out! LOL… But truly, This juki machine is a dream……
I have been coveting the a juki for months now and you have tipped me over the edge. I will be ordering one if I don’t win, but I certainly hope I do. Merry Christmas and thank you for another year of inspiration, Lisa! I look forward to what you will do in 2014!
I also bought my Juki for machine quilting but love it for piecing especially for half square triangles! Even with a “leader” my other machines suck the ends into the hole but the Juki is amazing. I find myself using it the most ! I have a Pfaff and a Featherweight too. ๐
I am VERY excitedly looking forward to the happenings in your new studio! Quilt alongs! Tutes! Yes!!!
Thank you for all you do for us out here! I’ll again mention the snow falling now on my screen. It’s the only white we’ll see for the near future here in Ct.
I have a friend that got a Juki 15 years ago and her goal was to see how fast it could go. She could finish string piecing a quilt almost before we started! At that time I didn’t have the money to have two machines and with a move and a Pffaf dealer close I had forgotten about her treasure. Thanks for reminding me.
WOW! I just love seeing these wonderful items that a real quilter would use. Thank you so much for posting these every year. I look forward to them! Now, I need to get moving on my order! Merry Christmas!
What a temptation! I replaced a machine I had for 22 yrs a couple years ago from a local quilt shop. Will not name the brand but so not liking it. Not a workhorse and even when piecing my quilts it does not like to go over the pieced seams. Can be very frustrating…… I wish I had known about the Juki at the time I was replacing (priced the same). I’m already thinking of replacing a 2 yr old machine and I think you have SOLD me on Juki. Thanks much for all the needfuls. I keep a list of the items I want and why you suggest.
Thank you for all of your needful things suggestions. I can only hope Santa has been reading them too! I don’t expect to see a Juki under the tree, but a girl can hope can’t she????
Everything you mentioned about having a second machine is true. This sounds like a great machine. I have been looking at Singer featherweights, but for the price of the Juki what a deal.
Just yesterday I was talking with a quilting friend about getting a new sewing machine and she mentioned I check out Juki. On your recommendation I may have to strongly consider this sewing machine. Thank you for all your posts and Merry Christmas!
Lisa-Thank you very much for the review. I hope to eventually be able to afford a new sewing machine Brand to be determined and I appreciate all the info on your Juki. It sounds amazing! Merry Christmas!
Thanks Lisa for the 12 needful things this Christmas season. I look forward to hearing about your favorite things. Merry Christmas to everyone at Primitive Gatherings and their families.
This is another one of those products I would never have known about if you had not shown it on your 12 Days of Needful Quilty stuffs… when you consider the prices of the more popular (quilt shop) brands of machines… this $899 for a solid metal workhorse is very reasonable… when my old machine breaks, I’ll definitely be purchasing one of these…
Thank you for all your time and knowledge that you put into these 12 Days postings… as well as all the teaching and sharing you do throughout the year! You keep designing… and we’ll keep stitching! ๐ A very Merry Christmas to you, your family and everyone at Primitive Gatherings!
The Juki sounds like a good machine for those little quilts. I’ve avoided sewing any piece much smaller than the 2 1/2 inch since I find it difficult to keep the fabric aligned and the large space for quilts to the right of the needle would definitely be a plus! Thanks for all the great ‘needful’ things posts. I enjoy the projects. Merry Christmas, Lisa.
I wish I could afford a Juki right now. I can only imagine all the quilting I could get done so much faster. Thanks again for all the needful items. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
Wow – “IF ONLY” — the JUKI — sounds wonderful — don’t recall seeing one when at the Gathering; but then
we were a stitching hive, so we were the only machines involved; besides irons, of course! I am so grateful
my hive sisters introduced me to the wonders of Primitive Gatherings in this past year!
Have a wonderful Christmas & thanks for all you share with us!
After reading your Juki description, I’d love one. It sounds great for a “simpler” quilter like myself. I have a good basic (computerized) 12-yr. old Bernina which works fine for me, so I can’t treat myself to a new machine. Maybe some day :). Thanks for all the good information every day.
Lisa, I just had 4 men from the Juki corporation in my sewing room a couple of weeks ago asking questions about my experience with my sit-down quilting machine (HQ Sweet 16). I sense another product coming down the line. : )
You’ve done a great job selling me on the Juki you use, but I don’t think I could talk DH into another machine, since I have purchased 2 in the last 2 years. I will definitely keep this in mind for the future.
I LOVE YOUR BLOG, Lisa! I bought so much at your booth at the Quliter’s Unlimited Show in June, that is where I learned about it.
I would love a JUKI, I have a 20+ year old Bernine 1090 and it is still stitching along. I hope that I am the winner, but if not, I will have to start saving up! Lots of plans to make charity quilts and Soldier quilts in 2014, as well as for family and friends. ๐
Enjoy your family this Christmas. Happy New Year!
I have had a Juli 98 for a few years and I LOVE it. I’ve considered upgrading because the needle threader would help (as I get older it gets harder to thread my needles) and the speed control might be nice, but I am very happy with the stitch quality and the speed of mine. zoom!
When I first started sewing I could not imagine having more than one machine!!! Now I have two and that is not enough! Thanks for all the quilting information that you have given us during the 12 days. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I can’t tell you how many sewing machines I have. Scared to count them all! Two Berninas, two featherweights, numerous treadles and many other vintage machines. Where the heck would I put another one? I talked myself out of buying one last year but I I’m thinking……could I?……should I?……hmmmmm………….I should!!!!! Yea!
Merry Christmas!
Starla
Oh my goodness! I was reading this to my husband and he said “Do you want one?” Oh my, I said I don’t need one. Do you want it. Oh my! He said think about it. You have 5 days. I have 2 featherweights and a Bernina and a Pfaff. But the Pfaff and the Bernina are 30 years. So……… What to do? Oh my!
HO HO HO!
Oh yes, I too have a number of sewing machines. It’s gotten worse as I am a snow bird so have more than one in two locations. This sounds like a perfect addition to the “family”. Thank you so much for the 12 fun days of Christmas. To call them all “Needful” might be a stretch but I sure think they are “Wishful”.
Juki is on my list. Looking forward to 2014 and all the new and old projects I want to do. You speak to my heart with your designs. I met you in Houston and its easy to see why you are so successful . Would love to take a class from you. Are you planning on coming to Nebraska in 2014? Merry Christmas!
MERRY CHRISTMAS…I have enjoyed your needful things..and everyday would add something to my shopping cart…It was nice because the things I ordered were held until I sent the order in last night. I have been looking at the Juki for a while, and found that you have the best price even when it’s not on sale. It’s on my Christmas list. I showed my husband your sale…so If I’ve been good, perhaps..It would really make my day, or should I say Christmas…anyway..Happy Holidays, and “Warm Winter Blessings” to all.
I almost bought this machine last year but managed to talk myself down (several times). I’ve thought and dreamed of this machine all year. I’m so glad you are offering it again. I’m not going to be able to talk myself out of it this time.
this has been a fun and very informative 12 Days! I have added many things to my want list and will certainly look forward to next year’s 12 Days event.
This sewing machine sounds wonderful. I especially like the knee lift. Years ago I sewed on an industrial sized Juki and I loved it. Thanks for your blog – I love reading everyone of them.
I would definitely consider a Juki for my next machine. I like the fact that it’s not computerized.. I have a Viking Quilt Designer 2 from 2004 – it’s been great, but I worry that it will (or already has) become obsolete – It uses stitch cards and I don’t know if I could find replacement cards.
I only have the one several-years-old Bernina. I’d love something newer. I have heard of a Juki but hadn’t heard a lot about it. Thanks for the review. It helps to get first person experiences.
I have heard only raves about the Juki machines! Your input makes it official! Thank you for all you have done & continue to do for us groupies! It’s a lot of hard work! Looking forward to 2014 and all that you will share! Wishing you, your family & staff a wonder filled Christmas!
Wow. This sounds like an amazing machine. I just got my Bernina out of repair. I wish I had had a machine like this as a backup. Some Christmas gifts just didn’t get done. Good thing I can bake too! So although I intended to give some table runners and placemats etc, I ended up giving yummy goodies instead. This machine will definitely go on my wish list! Thanks for the write up about it. I had seen it before but didn’t know much about it. Love your Blog and all of your amazing talent. Thank you Lisa for your great inspiration. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I would love a new machine, the JUKI sounds like a Quliter’s dream! I have lots of plans for charity quilts, pillows and soldier quilts in 2014, the JUKI could speed up to sewing!!
I bought this machine at your store a month ago…it has changed quilting for me! I have a babylock quilters choice, and I always quilt my own quilts. Having so much more space to quilt made me able to quilt a quilt in HALF the normal time.
The instruction book is in the process of being laminated, all threading, tension, quilting feet, diagrams are top notch. I have never understood, or cared, to figure out tension. On this machine it is so basic and idiot proof, that I’m doing fine!
Thank you for the wonderful machine, the encouragement and ideas.
Merry Christmas Eve!
Audrey Gerrits
I bought a Juki from Lisa in August this year – the TL- 2010Q. I love it because it is fast and I love not having to hold the threads when I start sewing Also love the auto thread cutter. Has been great for sewing on my binding onto my quilt without a problem. Can’t carry to class because of the weight but I have a small one for this.
Thanks Lisa for recommending this machine.
Carole T
the Juki sounds like a great machine. I have yet to see one, but it sounds like a great workhorse. maybe for the next one… I’m also interested in the long arm one… Thanks so much for the 12 days. great blog and store.
I’m thinking about it–sounds like the Juki would be a great addition–I have 2 Berninas and 2 Featherweights–but the love the idea of speed and perhaps I could learn to free motion machine quilt!
Lisa, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy life to host the 12 days of Christmas for us. You give until it feels good, what a inspiration to us all. Hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas. Who ever wins this wonderful machine……use it to improve the lives of others, there is no better feeling than to give. Merry Christmas all!
My friend owns a Juki and calls it her Work Horse!! She loves it…now I see WHY!! Thanks for sharing all of your needful things…most have been added to my Wish List!! Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best!
Paulette
WOW! Sounds like a great machine. I’ve purchased several of your Days of Christmas offers, but this one is a little more than I can afford. Merry Christmas and thank you for all the goodies the last 12 days Linda
Hi Lisa, a dear friend of mine just purchased a Juki. After you talking about them last year and again this year I am so excited for her!! Thank you for all your efforts to introduce us to wonderful tools to help us enjoy our quilting more. MERRY CHRISTMAS with blessings and smiles, Emilou ๐
Lisa, Thanks for the great sales presentation. I just went on your site and purchased the Juki. If I asked for one for Christmas my husband would say you have a serger and a computer machine, why do you need another machine. So … I didn’t ask him – I just did it!!! Hope you got your shopping done – I just finished mine – thanks to you. Happy New Year! Marlene
I looked at a Juki several years ago and decided to buy a Bernina 153QE. While I am not disappointed with my Bernina I wish I had gotten the Juki. Thank you so much for the 12days. I have enjoyed them. Don’t suppose you would do the 12 days of spring? Just a thought. Merry Christmas
The Juki gives me something to think about, I’ve been thinking I need a Janome 6600 for some time now and this is another alternative to consider seriously, especially with an endorsement like yours. Thanks so much for the 12 Days, I’ve looked forward to it each morning. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas & a fantastic 2014. You bring a lot of joy to a lot of people!
I bought this machine last year from your 12 days and I can honestly say I agree completely with you on it! This is a great workhorse of a machine and is so worth the investment! Thank you for referring it to me! We all know that when you say something is great, IT IS! Thanks So much for helping all of us get the NEEDFUL and useful things! You’re the bomb!
After that glowing endorsement, I’ll be sure to keep it in mind if I need a new machine. I’m pretty attached to my Bernina, and the fact that you also have Berninas tells me a lot. Thanks for this series of posts–I’ve learned about some great new toys and tools.
I got my Juki from a quilting friend who just wasn’t going to machine quilt anymore after only making a small project. Okay FAST doesn’t describe how this baby goes when you machine quilt! It is lightning. I did have a few tension issues with my bobbin loosening up, but a little nail polish on the screw took care of that and I am back to happy and quick sewing. I still have it set up for machine quilting, but I agree with you. Piecing would be SO much faster on this than on my Janome. The Janome runs like a snail compared to this, even though i love it too. If anyone is on the fence, this is the machine you get when you quilt and piece a lot. I always worried I was working my Janome too hard. This one I KNOW I am not. You can feel the power and the sturdiness. It is heavy, but that is why it has its own little special place in my sewing room. My recommendation is to buy one!
Hi Lisa, yes I too have a Juki TL2010Q, and was inspired by your 12days last year as well. It is a wondeful machine and a great price. I use it for peicing, quilting, and local retreats. I was a little spoiled by my auto tension on my Berninas, but I quickly figured it out. Thanks again for all that you do, especially your kind, thoughtful, and generous nature. Merry Christmas!!
Thanks for all the needful things suggestions! I indulged in the pressing bars – a present to myself!! I have heard of the Juki and would love to have one in my sewing room. I make a lot of your patterns and would love to sew on a machine that has tighter teeth on the feed dogs. Have a very Merry Christmas, and I am looking forward to all your new patterns in 2014!!!
I don’t have this machine but have the Husquvarna Viking that sounds just like it. I LOVE IT! I know that anyone who buys this Juki will not be disappointed. And I also have a Bernina and a Featherweight, among others. This is a great machine!
I would like to test drive one of these some day. We’re planning a cross country ski trip to your area early next year and I am planning to stop in to visit your shop. Thanks for all of your needful suggestions and tips. It’s been fun spending these 12 days with you. Merry Christmas to everyone!
Oh I wish, I wish, I wish I could buy this machine….I wish!!!! Someday…..I am a Bernina lover, but I loved my mom’s old singer that was all metal. Sewed like a dream. She gave it away one day…..ah!!!
Have a very Merry Christmas, Lisa. I wish you and your family the best year yet.
I do not have a Juki, but several of my Instagram friends have and love them. I am excited about your new studio and upcoming videos – I just tried to enroll in one of your classes and got shut out, so sad.
This Juki machine sounds wonderful! Someday I would like to upgrade from my cheap Brother machine that I bought from Wal Mart when I started quilting about 3 years ago…..it’s an okay machine but I am very limited to what I can do with it. I have very much enjoyed the 12 days of Christmas and have added all the items to my wish list. My wish list is on hold for now as my husband lost his long time bank job over 18 months ago because of a merger and still hasn’t been able to find a new one. Thank you for sharing these amazing needful things for quilting….I have learned a few things along the way. Merry Christmas!!!
You are a great saleswoman! The Juki sounds amazing–do you think my quilts would look as beautiful as yours if I got it? ๐ Thanks for the great ideas for quilting “needfuls”.
I would absolutely love to add a Juki to my machine inventory! Our family had a costume shop back in the 80’s. Juki was the favorite of all our designers.
I bought a Brother 1500 about the same time that Juki started selling their “1500” machines. I totally agree about how great the stitch is, how wonderful to have the thread cutter, the speed, etc. Essentially the same machine, I wouldn’t give up my Brother 1500 either. I have it ready for not only piecing but any heavy duty sewing…made repairs to a tent last year! I also own two Berninas, three featherweights and a few OLD Singers. If anyone wants a wonderful price on a machine they will own forever, get this deal!
I have been in need of a second machine and have thought about this machine ever since you had it on your Needful Things list last year. Hummmmm………………..I just might have to give myself a present this year. I wish your store was closer to me so I could come in whenever I had questions about the machine, but it sounds like it is fairly easy to handle. I have a couple days to think about this! First, I need to get through all of these family gatherings! Merry Christmas, Lisa……and thanks for all of your inspiration!
I’ve been reading all your tips and comments and as a quilter, it has way more info and meaning coming from another quilter. I’ll be getting and trying some of your ideas in the future. I’m always looking for notions and tips on making it easier and fun! I’ll be making time to look at the Juki. thanks for the blog and Merry Christmas!
I have a similar machine (different brand) and have to say the thread cutter is my favorite feature! Can’t wait to see what you create in 2014. Merry Christmas!
This is the perfect gift! I will soon be celebrating my 45th wedding anniversary and this will be my requested gift. I have taken a class from Primitive Gatherings as well as ordered online. My last trip to my vacation home in Eagle River included a stop to your shop. My husband was I very impressed and more importantly can find it again when he needs to pick up my gift! I love your shop and it’s always worth the trip from Milwaukee to visit it.
I’ve never sewn on a Juki but would love to try one. My husband wanted to get me a new machine for Christmas but I couldn’t decide on “the machine” I wanted. I will definitely try a Juki before making that final decision. I learned a lot from your 12 Days of Christmas. Thank you for sharing.
As a newbie to the quilting world, I have really enjoyed your 12 days of Christmas. The Juki sounds like the ultimate machine to have. Looking forward to learning all that I can in 2014 from your blog and videos. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I have this same machine and just love it, I use mine mainly for machine quilting on my frame. Thank-you so much Lisa for sharing all your items you like with us again this year. You and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy 2014. You have a wonderful shop and should be very proud of it and your staff.
I would LOVE a new machine. Mine is 10 years old, not too old, but a lot of wear. I sew every day. But, alas, funds don’t allow. Sigh! But there’s nothing wrong with dreaming. I will check this one out, definitely, whenever I can shop for a new machine. Merry Christmas! May God bless you abundantly this holiday and into the new year. ๐
I am from Australia and bought the same Juki 2 weeks ago the same model as yours. I LOVE it !
The price is great and I just wish I had one years ago. I wrote a review on my blog if you care to check http://quiltingbycelia.blogspot.com
Thank you so much for all your ideas and special needful things that you use. I really enjoy all the things in your blogs and things you email us with – it really gets me motivated. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas
I had not been considering a new machine, but your testimonial is making me consider one now. Just as all the necessary things postings have done. Thanks for sharing the tips and tricks that you use. Always inspiring…
I have enjoyed your 12 days of Christmas. My friend has a Juki and she loves it. I would love to have one too. Should have asked Santa. What was I thinking?
Wonder what my husband will think if i tell him I need another machine? Hmmm.
So many times simple is the best. I seldom use all of the features on my machine, since I love piecing more than anything else. This one sounds great.
Thank you for all the great 12 Days of Christmas ideas! Juki sounds like the machine I’ve been looking for. All metal sewing machine is the way to go! Thank you for all you and your staff do. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
OMG! I can’t believe it! I have a newish rather expensive sewing machine that I just cannot bond with. And have been having problems with. I kept remembering your needful things from last year and how much you loved your Juki. I was going to go back to your blog entry from last Christmas and see if I could figure out which Juki model you offered last year and see if I could find one to purchase. And now there is no need to look! YAY!
Thank you for making it available again.
Kathy
Not having to hold onto my treads when I start to sew is worth it’s weight in gold. Thanks for your 12 Needful Things for Quilters. It has been fun to follow along. Merry Christmas to you and your staff……
I am in love with all the Christmas ideas and plan on purchasing many of them. Very intrigued about the Juki machine. Thanks for all the great information and patterns and supplies. Have a very Merry Christmas.
Well I am one of those who bought the Juki from you last year at Christmastime and I can’t say enough good about this machine. It is absolutely my favorite machine besides my featherweight! It pieces over bulky seams like butter and never moves a bit as it does! I just simply don’t know how I lived without this machine for so long. I have since sold my other high end machine because I just don’t use all the stitches that come on it anyway. The Juki, in my opinion, is the perfect piecer machine for any quilter. I am so happy I made the purchase. It is truly a wonderful needful to have in any quilter’s sewing room.
Merry Christmas, Lisa, to you and the whole gang! If I told my husband I was thinking of buying another machine, he’d probably shoot me. He couldn’t say anything, though, if I won one, could he?
I have 2 Berninas and love them both. But I’m hoping Juki comes out with a sit down mid arm quilting machine, much like a HQ Sweet Sixteen. I want something I can quilt the larger quilts on with a larger neck. I’ve heard really good things about Juki’s and am eager to see what they come out with. I am very tempted to purchase the 2010Q though….Thanks for all the info you share with us. Very helpful! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I ordered the Juki tonight. I have two Berninas and wanted to order the Juki last year but postponed it. Thanks Lisa for sharing the things important to you as a quilter. It means so much to those of us who look to you for advice. Merry Christmas to you and your family
Star light, star bright…I wish I may, I wish I might. Have the wish, I wish tonight..
I wish to make Juki mine tonight. In return I would pay it forward…giving my daughter my current machine.
I’ve been looking at Jukis but I just absolutely love the way you describe it….Oh my, it sounds like a dream machine! I love all metal parts on a sewing machine!
Would love a Juki machine. We have a local quilt shop that does their quilting with a Juki and cannot say enough good about it. Hear it puts out a great stitch!
I know you have mentioned your Juki before. I consider myself an intermediate quilter. Several quilts under my belt but still green enough to make mistakes and learn. I have a nice machine and dislike greatly having to change the needle plate and walking foot. I will definitely put this on my to get list for 2014. I had not thought about a machine that just straight stitches and I love the idea. We all get so bogged down in all the bells and whistles sometimes we forget we really don’t need all the extras. All I really want to do it quilt.
Certainly enjoyed your 12 days of needful things! I have heard of the JUKI before, but have never seen one in person. I think I need to find a place where I can get my hands on a JUKI. Merry Christmas Lisa!
Your post in last year’s needful things made my final decision to buy this machine. I had done a lot of research and read how many other quilters used this machine and your review made up my mind. If you don’t have this machine, get it! There is nothing else even close. Everything Lisa said In this review is true! Also does heavyweight sewing too as I made some exterior awnings on it last summer. Primitive Gatherings has it for a good price. Don’t hesitate you will be thrilled. I’m thinking about selling my computerized machine because this one is so much better! Merry Christmas to all!
Now I am curious about the Juki. I have really enjoyed your posts and have learned about tools to get better results when quilting. Hope to visit your store in 2014.
Thanks for sharing all of the “needful things”, there are several on my wish list. I have heard of Juki, and am glad to read a honest review. Have a great holiday.
Having a Juki sounds like a dream come true! I love the idea of speed with accuracy as well as not having to hold the threads at the start. I saw the Juki in operation while staying at the Primitive Gatherings retreat house – Amazing!
I have this machine and I love it too. It does great free motion quilting and I use it on my B-line quilting rack for bigger quilts. Thanks for showing us all the needful things and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
You convinced me last year with your posts of Needful things that I needed a Juki – and I have not only NOT REGRETTED it for one day, but my sister bought a similar machine and I convinced others that it is a must have. I LOVE machine quilting with it and you can’t beat the price! Not sure my Bernina will ever come back out of the closet!
This machine sounds wonderful! I have 4 machines. I love the older heavier one. But this sounds like it would be so nice to piece one. I might have to work some over time and see if I can get one this year. Thanks so much for sharing all your great products with us all. Merry Christmas!
I have heard of Juki machines, but knew nothing about them. My newest machine is about 15 years old, and it certainly would be incredible to have a good solid workhorse!
I remember from last year that you talked about how much you loved your JUKI. Sounds like a wonderful machine – I’m going to try one at the next quilt show I go to. I appreciate your recommendation. Merry Christmas!
Last year, I too bought a Juki for myself. What a great investment. It is so easy to operate with all the “bells and whistles” I need. Love the automatic thread cutter – makes sewing strips of half square triangles easier. Love the machine almost as much as I love Primitive Gatherings. Thanks for the great tips again this year. Merry Christmas!
I have had a TL98Q Juki for 7-8 years, and love, love, love it! All the things you mentioned, and rarely needs any service but to tune it up every couple of years (no computer, so less to go wrong). I would buy another in a heartbeat if I had room (I also have several other machines). Just like my stash, I think of it as another “collection” to be admired ๐
You are right on…… It is the best machine to work with! Bells and whistles…who needs ’em, give me a Juki!! Thank you for your 12 needful things, I looked forward to getting the email every day. See you in 2014.
Sounds like an amazing machine! Would love to win this to give to my daugthter who is setting up her first sewing room. She just graduated from college so this would be a wonderful graduation gift!!!
Wow, not holding the thread at the start or having the fabric pulled down sounds like a dream. Think I might just have to drop a few heavy “hints” and add this to my wish list. Thanks for the info and would love to read 12 needful months of the year.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us your needful things, especially during this busy time of the year. The Juki sounds like a great little machine to have, let’s see how can I explain to my hubby that I really need this little machine……
Lisa, thanks so much for sharing these special needful things with us during the holidays. Can’t wait to put my order in for several of the things. Wishing you all the best in the new year!!!
Wishing you a Merry Christmas!! Thanks for sharing all of your needful things…the Juki sounds great! Do you machine quilt on it or just use it strictly for piecing??
I did it! I am so excited! My hubby was so sweet. He says I am hard to buy for so this was perfect! Lisa, he was so impressed by the write up. I read it out loud to him! Good job. It’s very easy to promote something you believe in! We also only sell what we truly believe in and that’s how we’ve stayed in business all these years! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I loved the 12 days of Christmas. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Thanks for the description of the Juki. Sounds like it has everything I would want in a sewing machine, especially if I want to do my own quilting. I have an old Bernina and the throat is pretty small–makes it a challenge to quilt.
Thanks for the 12 days of needful things. I’ve learned about some new things that I will need to acquire.
I bought the Juki last year when you had them on sale and I do like this machine. It is fast, accurate and I love the foot thread cutter. The needle threader is a little tricky. I keep my older Bernina off to the side for the occasional task that needs it, but have found this is a couple times a year usage. I would buy one again.
This was one of those gifts I wanted once I read Lisa’s recommendation. It was a Christmas add-on that I had to have. It is a wonderful machine!!! I love it. It is my go to machine before my three berninas and 3 featherweights.
A must have.
I certainly would love to spend a weekend with one of these machines to get to know the feel of it.
Sounds like a fantastic stitching machine! It sounds like it would be great to use to quilt small projects!
This WILL be my next machine. I first heard about them from Lisa at Primitives of the Midwest a couple years ago. I have never seen a bad review. Thanks so much for the list of needful things. Such wonderful information.
Loved your 12 Days of Christmas this year. I have read each post, some of these I own already, and some were new. You gave sew much detail and useful tips for each one. You can read through the lines that you truly love what you do and want to share with others, I would love to try many of these.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I bought a Juki last year during your 12 days of Christmas. I absolutely LOVE it!!!!
I cant imagine what I did without it. I love sewing on it. The needle threader and thread cutter
are amazing. I actually think I use less thread with it. If you don’t have one of these machines
you must get one. You will not go back to your old machine.
