Fat Quarter Quilt Shop-Designer Block of the Month!

DM-Blog-Hop-Vertical

Click this link for more details:    Fat Quarter Quilt ShopMystery Block of the Month

Just want to give everyone a heads up…I have designed a block for this Mystery Quilt from Fat Quarters… You may want to head on over and sign up…just in case they run out of kits!!!!    My post for this mystery will be “posted” on Feb 18th and their will be a “give away” that day from Fat Quarters. Here is the info:

This year, Fat Quarter Shop is using Avalon by Fig Tree Quilts for their annual Designer Mystery quilt.  The fabric is light, a little whimsical and grounded with a bit of navy, which you’ll find peppered through the quilt.  For a little treat, you will receive a MINI Charm Pack of Avalon with the first month’s block! A taste of the fabric before the club kicks into full gear.  Each of the twelve sampler blocks is designed by a different Moda designer and feature rows of baskets, stars, flowers and houses.

If you have never done a block-of-the-month club before, this is a great one to start with.  Each month you’ll receive lots of fabric and lovely instructions to complete that month’s block.  The quilt is suited for everyone, from beginners to seasoned quilters.

The club is almost half full now, so sign up before spots run out!

Inspiring others…

Now please don’t take this post the wrong way…I would never do a “shout out” about myself but when one reads a post about herself, it really justifies that YES! This is what I am meant to do…

Here is a post from Becky, who took one of my classes in Utah this last weekend: she is a young enthusiastic quilter who has her own patterns and blog…she is currently doing a 52 week series on making things with your extra blocks you may have around… i have drawers full!…visit her blog here and meet Becky! Her post is titled 10 things I learned from Primitive Gatherings!

Patchwork Posse

We are busy setting up our booth here in CA…got a lot done yesterday…Nick fell asleep before 8 last night and is still snoring away…keeping me awake! Oh well, I guess I get lots of research done when this happens…

I am currently working on recreating this antique quilt top from my collection…I should really say that it is my inspiration for what I am working on because I am using wools, changing the colors, changing the size and adding my own little touches and revamping just a little…I have stitched all 9 blocks and now will work on the borders…but what I really love about this quilt top is the faded green vegetable dyed cotton that has faded to a unique blue….but that will not be the case in my re-creation of this awesome quilt! I also love the way the borders were put on… No matching up the vine so it flows from one border to the next…she just stitched them and sewed them on, not caring about a continuous vine of leaves..LB

Back in California…

Now…I am back relaxing with my honey whom I haven’t seen in over a week the weathers so nice we soon will be taking an evening stroll…called mom back home it is six below zero at home, not counting the wind chill factor…she is snuggling with Jeter and Presley and keeping warm…
The Quilted Journey US Tour 2013 has arrived and the roadies (nick and I) will be setting up tomorrow…there is a quilt only preview tomorrow (wednesday)and then the show opens at 9am on Thursday…hope to see you then!

Day 2 workshop and dinner/lecture trunk show

Another day passes so quickly when we are having so much fun! The ladies in Utah are a joy to teach! After our workshop we went to Maddox for a wonderful dinner and I believe it was a great time for all 75 attendees…the door prizes were fabulous and all the company was even better…
After my trunk show the head waiter came to me and told me that this event was one of his favorites to do and that he thought that all the years have been great, but this year he thought my program and quilts were exceptional! That meant a lot to me…the quilters always say nice things but sometimes hearing it from someone outside gives it a little more justification…but anyway.please enjoy these pictures of another bunch of hard working lovely ladies and their wool project Homegrown…
PS if you want me to come teach for your guild or group just email me and we will see if we can work out a date…but I am pretty booked for this year and next…if I am coming to your town for a show we might be able to work something out?
