I saw Primitive Gatherings patterns and fabrics at a quilt show, and that led me to the blog. I don’t have time to keep up with it on a daily basis, but when I visit, it is like running into an old friend who brings me up to date on what has been happening in her life. She shares tips that I can use and passes on recipes that I might like. The photos of food often send me directly to my refrigerator. On topic, I leafed through the new book yesterday at my local quilt store. It will be on my Xmas list this year. |

Hi, I think I read the blog for ALL of the reasons you listed. I like all the news of how the blocks come about and of the family and shop. It is nice to see there is a “person” at Primitive Gathering. I love the sharing of the community. It is like seeing friends we know whether we are on a cruise, retreat, at classes or a show. I will never be a Big Box quilter or wool worker. Thanks!
I enjoy reading about all these great designers, the how’s and whys you do what you do, it is like sharing over a cup of coffee with needle and thread in hand. I am always amazed at the creativity you all share.
I am a beginner and find I learn so much about quilting and LIFE from this blog. I give thanks that I receive such uplifting and valuable information. It brightens my day and I feel part of a community of quilters.

I have been enjoying your blog this year because I have been getting a slice of a designer’s life and I have been enjoying the blockheads and the triangle blocks. I am amazed that you can get everything into your life and how prodigious your quilting has been. Your quilt closet is amazing. I just was awed by it. You are right that the rows could be used as runners instead of just in quilts and the new book is amazing. I am hoping it is under the Christmas tree for me.
I read your blog for many reasons: inspiration and motivation from seeing the color photographs of projects in particular. I have made several of the recipes … sometimes I need that reminder to go look at all the other quilt designers’ blogs and having the link right there is easy for me to ‘link up’ with them. I’ll admit I’ve been saving all the HST designs and hope to eventually get to making something with them soon!

Why do I read your blog: well I started reading it years ago because I liked your designs. I first met you at Road to California when I happened to wander into your booth after seeing “Primitive Garden” hanging near the register. It spoke to me! You took the time to chat with me as if I was your only customer of the day and encouraged me to join the 2011 block of the month “Primitive Garden” saying anyone could make it that it wasn’t as hard as it looked because it was just one block a month! So I signed up and boom the rest is history, I have learned so much from you over the years. I like reading about anything you post about from how to pin a block for more accuracy (see your never to old to learn something different), to how your life is going in both the good and sad times. I LOVE your blog! I think I started reading it to see what was new in your designs and during a Christmas event. I love the patterns that you share and all of the wonderful ideas. I have learned a LOT about quilting which is nice because it isn’t convenient at this time for me to get to quilting classes. I love the recipes that you share and the stories about your family. It is always uplifting to read your blog! I’ve seen stuff you talk about on your blog and then purchased those things from your website. Thanks for all you do!! Oh, and for future postings.. I would love to see a bit about how to do hand quilting of smaller projects.How to transfer the quilting pattern to the top of your project to be quilted. Thanks!

I really enjoy all of your patterns, some more than others. I love reading and seeing pictures of your home by the water and catching a glimpse of your anchor. Additionally, reading stories about “Little Man” makes me laugh. I’ve really reduced purchasing anything related to quilting – I have so much, I’ll never use it. However, just had to buy that black display block and that little snowman pattern that goes with it. I can’t wait to receive them. I’d like to watch/see more stitching tutorials. I love reading your blog as it gives me inspiration to get off of my duff and make something. I hope this holiday season brings you much joy, happiness and wonderful memories.

I started following your blog last year (red and white quilts – The Magic of Christmas block patterns). Along the way I learned about starch and triangle papers and so much more. We have never met but I feel like you are a friend as well as an inspirational quilting tutor. Since I also like to cook, the recipes are a bonus! Thanks for everything that you share.
I already won a book so don’t need another. Looks like a super cute book and I’m really excited to see the charity for this one. A couple that I know (who are also clowns) volunteers with this charity when they take a group to Disney World!! They love it but know it’s very tiring for them. So wonderful!

I read your blog because I love your quilting style. I have been following your Triangle Gatherings, and although I haven’t made any blocks yet, I have printed each one and am saving them for my retirement!!!
I started reading your blog after 1) I couldn’t get close to your booth at a previous Road to California because there were too many people and 2) I visited your California store right after I had done my first wool piece (an owl rotary cutter holder). I love the inspirations, both about life and about quilts. My goal for next year is to attend one of your retreats.

I saw Primitive Gatherings patterns and fabrics at a quilt show, and that led me to the blog. I don’t have time to keep up with it on a daily basis, but when I visit, it is like running into an old friend who brings me up to date on what has been happening in her life. She shares tips that I can use and passes on recipes that I might like. The photos of food often send me directly to my refrigerator. On topic, I leafed through the new book yesterday at my local quilt store. It will be on my Xmas list this year.
