It’s time…

It’s time to start blogging again…Since Quilt market and before I’ve been in a “funk” for lack of a good word…I think it is because my world had too much going on and that had to be done and my sewing room was a complete MESS!!!  When that happens I cannot function properly…so on Thursday I stayed home and sorted through the carnage of what was once my beautiful sewing studio..and have sifted, sorted, organized my way back to the calm that it should be…and now I can begin again…now I can start sewing again…Are you like this or can you stitch in the eye of the storm?Piecing 1/2″ x 1″ finished Flying Geese units…to these 20 2″ finishd star blocks…in just a short time…

Also…had some “little man” time…introduced him to his first “margarita”…I also found the time to get the garden planted with some annuals…flea market find…perfect old cart…

notice the new “barn quilt”

can’t wait to see them grow…

Inside I have a few things I have not ever shown you…my “anchor collection” in the lower outdoor living porch…the photo is taken through the window screen so it appears fuzzy…but I spend a lot of time in this room Spring through Fall…

then…I placed this tulip quilt near the front foyer…Theresa’s Tulips is the pattern…Next up…I’m on my way to CANADA to Lindsay ONT, which is 1 1/2 hours NE of Toronto.  This is my first time to Canada!!! I am super excited for these ladies love Primitive Gatherings and have supported me all through the years… I have met them at our WI store, our retreat house “The Gathering” where some of them have stayed, in CA at our store and at the Needle Arts seminar at the Grand Hotel in MI in May when I teach there and at quilt shows.  I especially love them because they are so similar to myself…we talk pretty much the same way and we live a life of lots of cold weather…the also means we get lots of quilting done!!! So if you live near Toronto…come see me next week…contact Chrissy Altelaar on FB messenger to see if you can come!

I usually try to clean things up after each project but sometimes…when I’ve got deadlines and time limits, I just ‘zone in’ and work, work, work. Then when I’ve caught up, I do a really good clean-up and try to organize. Truly, I really like sewing/quilting when things aren’t in total disarray. 🙂

I think we all deal with being in a funk from time to time. Sometimes just takes longer than other to work through it. We’re all out here for you. My sewing room is a Very small bedroom and it doesn’t take too much for it to be messy. I can’t work in a mess either. Seems to clutter my brain! Goodness knows I don’t need more of that. 🙂

Although I am in a perpetual quilty mess it really does mess with my mojo. I’ve spent as much time as possible digging out. Bonus hubby has replaced my fluorescent lights with the new LED version. Can’t wait to finish the dig out and get busy!

lol my house is small and I sew on what is supposed to be the dinning room table… lol it’s my sewing studio, and office combined and if it’s a mess I can’t seem to work either. It always amazes me when I see people working in what I consider complete chaos! Your home looks so tranquil Lisa no wonder you can accomplish so much when your home! Enjoy your Canada trip!

I so loved your house tour Lisa. We built our home last summer and moved in about 3 weeks before the snow came. The landscaper came Friday and took the matting off the yard and WOW we have grass! I have planted flowers in pots and hung some baskets and now I’m concentrating on keeping track of how much sun different parts of the yard gets. Other plantings will have to wait, a little each spring I think, not only due to funds but my energy level as well. I’m not the kid I used to be. It was so nice to see your beautiful yard with all your plantings and that water feature is great! Spend the summer enjoying it, our WI winters have a way of creeping up on us.

Hi Lisa, I don’t know how you do it all, and so well. Your gardens are beautiful, love the pic of little man fishing. I can understand spending time in the outdoor living porch, very cozy, and the anchors are a lovely touch, so you. The tulip quilt is perfect! I’ve been meaning to tell you thank you for sharing your family vacation photos. I loved the pic of your mom on the beach!! Enjoy Canada! Hugs, Jakey

Your home is beautiful. Thanks for the tour, I can’t function when my sewing room is a mess, I scream, then take the entire day to clean my sewing room which looks out on the lake and then my quilting room which faces the road. Have fun in Canada, great place to visit, travel safe!

I just love all the anchors and seeing your home. We all deserve a “break” every now and then. I like a clean uncluttered sewing room also but it can clutter up so easily. You are such an inspiration to so many. Have a wonderful summer. Paula in KY

I was not able to quilt for the last two months and also found myself in a funk. Finally this last weekend I pulled my sewing machine out and just started a biscuit quilt. I felt so much better just getting to sew. What a blessing this obsession is.
