Moda Block Heads Blocks 19-22

IMG_2852Is is still Wednesday!!! I hope so because I do not like being behind…but sometimes it happens that way…I saw this quote yesterday and I think it was meant for me…

You can do ANYTHING…you just can’t do EVERYTHING!

Slapped me right in the face and yes, I exhaled and thought…this is for ME, this is my sign…I try to do too many things…so I just came to the realization that stuff will happen when I can make it happen…

IMG_5234So here are the blocks I did this morning plus the two I missed posting last week…In order…

Betsy Chuchian Block 19 go HERE for pattern.

Stacy Iest Hsu  Block 20 go HERE for pattern.

Jan Patek Block 21 go HERE for pattern. (I was lazy and pieced my star)

Laurie Simpson Block 22 go HERE for pattern.

Boy that was a lot of linking…but you may notice I did not do Jan’s appliqued star, but I did do a Brannock & Patek pieced star…here are some pics on how I did it…

I first cut out a 3 1/2″ freezer paper square…drew a star…IMG_5230Cut it apart and ironed them to the fabric.IMG_5231

Cut them out by adding a seam allowance.IMG_5233Stitched…G/A/H together.   Stitched B/C/D together.  Stitched those two units together…Stitched I and E together and added them to the unit…Stitched K/F/J together and then added them.  I also then cut 2″ borders and trimed the block to 6 1/2″…I did not notice my wonky top point…oh well.. its staying that way…IMG_5234Also I did not forget that I STILL did not stitch block 10…

Hope you enjoyed seeing my blocks…and make sure you visit the whole gang!

MODA BLOCK HEADS 2 BLOCKS 16 & 17 & 18!

IMG_2852

It is Block Head Wednesday today…I know…today is almost over…but all I can do is blame it on Florance….I was supposed to be teaching on the Outer Banks of NC this week…needless to say we were told we could not go over the bridge because they were going to have mandatory evacuations tuesday morning…so I never seen the beautiful 24 bedroom beach house we had rented for this beautiful event…I am sad and still  processing it all, but I know this is nothing compared to what will happen when that hurricane come through…so I could not stitch my blocks yesterday as planned…I was lucky to get a flight home today and just took the time to stitch the THREE blocks…

Here they are….mbh2-16-17-18.jpgCarrie’s block can be found HERE.

Brigitte’s Block can be found HERE.

Vanessa’s Block can be found HERE.

Fall…Anyone?

Today is beautiful, the humidity has left, the rain has stopped and it is a wonderful morning to post…

We are packed for North Carolina Retreat, today is the show opening for WI Quilt Expo in Madison WI..and I have my first border complete on Twighlight Garden…lots of things to celebrate…

I will be teaching these awesome fun wool projects in NC and I thought it was the perfect time to release them to everyone…We made them as pillows but they could also be framed…or the center of a quilt and so on…

They are three separate patterns because it is easier to kit them that way…the personalized jack-o-lantern has three size pumpkins in it and three different sized alphabets for personalizing any way you wish… We do have pillow forms available as an option as well and you will not be charged any EXTRA shipping for them then your normal shipping charges…and just a reminder if you order over $100 we have free shipping…and I also stuff bigger sized pillow form in when possible for a fuller pillow if you notice the sizes are not exact!

I also updated a former pattern and that is available HERE as well if you need a mat for the table….sorry for the small pic, but this is at the Madison show !!  (Speaking of  the show in Madison, we will have 10 kits only of each style…we forgot the patterns…I’ll try and get some down there for Friday and Saturday…now…please no “crabbing”to my staff at the show if we run out or that we did not bring enough…I was not going to release these until AFTER North Carolina…so get your order in asap so we can get them made and shipped out to you, or good for you if you are lucky enough to get one of those kits at the show…California will not have them until probably October…like I said…I am releasing these earlier than expected because everyone who saw them were bothering me for them, in a good way of course!!!)old crow and company light version-350x350

After I finished my border last night I decided to “play” with the pumpkins…just to give you another idea…but this one is staying at MY house and not going to the show or shop…they are so easy to stitch I stitched in about an hour and got up this morning and made my pillow complete with hidden zipper..Happy Fall Primitive Gatherings

Thank you for inspiring me to “stitch on”…you are my driving force…we at Primitive Gatherings try our best to bring you the best and most current projects!  Now to start that second border on TWG border…Have a great “Sunny” Thursday!!!  LBTWG:LB.JPG

Moda Block Heads 2…Blocks 14 & 15

IMG_2852It’s September and this month you will be getting a bonus!!! Two blocks each week…

I sure lucked out becaue we are working on our book for our new fabric line Star & Stripe Gatherings and getting ready to go the Outer Banks of NC on a week long retreat with 40 lucky ladies…but the reason I lucked out is…these two blocks were super simple so I could easily fit them in my more than packed schedule…

Block 14 is from Lynne of Kansas Trouble Quilters…go HERE for her pattern…and…Block 15 is from the CRAZY fun/mean girls from Me & My Sisters…who TPd me in Dallas…IMG_3874They were just jealous because our class had more fun or something like that…lol….Click HERE to go to thier pattern…

Time out here for a sad note:   I had someone comment that they do not like the fact that they have to go somewhere else for these patterns each…this is just how it works…you need to go to the designers  blog- who put her time and heart & soul into this project…if you do not like it…then do not do this project and move on to something else…but really is it too much to ask?  Come quilter’s your better than that!!…but back to the rest of you who are in for a little fun and adventure while visiting the blogs…

On to the blocks…IMG_1460

I love the Fidget Spinner block and how it turned out…and the Corner Pocket block was super easy and turned out perfect…

I do want to let you know that in block 13 as well and 14 I use this ruler A LOT and it really helps with accuracy and it is a time save I think.. I know I talked about it earlier here in MBH2…MSFC_Ruler_2000x

Click HERE if you need to order one… Again…this is where we can make a little money for our time and tips we share with you…your supporting a designer(Doug) and  family business (mine) and not some corporation…I always try to support the little guys…

But again this is how simple it works..IMG_7943

see those little cut off triangles?  Those will be 3/4″ finishing Triangles that are just left overs and can be used because you cut them accuratley instead of just sewing across the diagonal and then trimming…this is not as accurate as when you use the ruler..IMG_5589IMG_9964IMG_1746

And BANG just like that perfect blocks…so if you are struggling with your blocks…take some time and visit past BH1 posts on how to piece accurately…it is more than just a good 1/4″ seam…IMG_1460Remember all through September you will be getting two blocks…so visit all of us here to see them!!!
