I just finished Educated. My gosh. Pretty hard to take in someone being raised in that fashion, but it was also hard to put down. What a strong person she must be, yet damaged.
I am listening to America’s First Daughter which is about Thomas Jefferson’s oldest daughter – just started but I think it is going to be interesting. I like things with some history thrown in. I liked where the Crawdads Sing also.

Listening to Lt Joe Kenda, Homicide Hunter (TV is on) while reading email. Just finished Holy Ghost by John Sandford. I would rather be sewing during the day.

I’m reading My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. It’s a series on Netflix and is very interesting!

Listening to Barkskins by Annie Proulx (love her writing). I’m really enjoying it. My family is from the area in the book, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New England. Enjoying the history of settling the land and interaction with the Native Canadians.

I just finished The Lying Game by Ruth Ware and My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrick Backman. Both totally different from each other. Right now I’m listening to A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Taylor, and have placed a hold on Educated. Glad to hear you liked Where the Crawdads Sing as I also have a hold on that one too. Love, love, love audiobooks while stitching and quilting both. Thanks for the recommendations, Lisa!

Anything by Ruth Ware is good! “Death of Mrs. Westaway” and “The Woman in Cabine 10” are her other books. Her new book “The Turn of the Key” doesn’t come out until August:(

Just finished Where the Crawdads Sing a day or so ago…and have had a hard time hitting the pause button while listening to Educated! Great books! Also I second an earlier suggestion of America’s First Daughter. Before listening to Crawdads, I listened to We Were the Lucky Ones. It is a WWII book. I am not always in the right frame of mind to listen to WWII subject matter, but thought it was well written and in the end, a very heart warming book. I love when people ask for recommendations or make reviews…..always get good suggestions!

Almost finished with the extraordinary life of Sam Hell. Great listen! Recently finished clockmaker’s daughter and it was good too! A little older but wonderful is The Story Keeper by Lisa Wingate. Actually have loved every title from her. And another great read is June Bug by Billy Coffey

Hilarious because I just downloaded “Where the Crawdads Sing” this morning! Have your read “Beartown” or “A Man Called Ove”? They’re both very good too. I put “Educated” on my To Read list and will listen to the podcast later today or tomorrow. Thanks! Reading Is Fun!

I loved Educated! You can find an interview of the author on Youtube.
Right now I’m listening to a ‘classic’ “Cold Sassy Tree” by Olive Ann Burns, published in 1984. It follows the life of a 14-year old boy in Georgia. Great narrator!

Check out “The Language of Flowers”. I thought it was a great

Hi Lisa, This is a great chance for recommendations on new reads! I was just going to send you a note asking your advice on how/where to start marking my quilt tops using the acrylic fan templates that I purchased from you a long time ago. Then when I was reading the blog, magically there was your quilt top that you had marked using those templates! Crazy!! Until I saw it, I just couldn’t “see” it. I love the threaded needles for each fan blade. I wish I could hand quilt them, but arthritis stopped that. So, I will mark them and machine quilt the fans. I’m pretty sure Laurie Simpson recommended those templates from you. I enjoy reading the blog and that is a lot of beef!
    Thanks again. Connie Martin

I LOVE audiobooks when traveling (I’m a traveling nurse within my state), when sewing, or working on the computer. I generally enjoy murder mysteries but not opposed to listening to something different. Both look interesting.

Linda turned me onto Dirty John too. I was positively gripped by that story. I like to listen to My Favorite Murder. They use the F word A Lot, so be prepared if you give this a listen.

I just listened to “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell”. It is narrated by the author and he does quite well. Great book! Also, The Good Girl” was an interesting listen.
