Did you see this? Word- transfer tutorial

Just want to do a quick post and tutorial on this adorable quilt…and how to transfer a word you wish to stitch on to a dark fabric…and any of the underlined content here are links to bring you on where you can find out more info and prices…

On the Farm….is a quilt with an option for wool or flannel appliqués… You can buy it as a FULL KIT or we are running as a Block of the Month.on-the-farm-500x500

But I’d love to show you how easy it was to stitch these words…

The names of the animals are on black flannel…and it sometimes is hard to see the letters through the light box…so  what do we do then?

IMG_0646

Trace the words on the top non-tacky side of the Press n Seal…this its what it looks like…image.png

use a permanent fine marker

IMG_0647

Cut them out and center the word on the fabric and press it securely in place.

IMG_0648

I stitched the little ends of the letters first…

IMG_0649

IMG_0650

Once the ends are finished…then stitch the long lines…

IMG_0651

Once it is all stitched…use this tweezer  because it is super sharp and has a nice contact at the point for picking and grabbing.  Trust me it matters…your eyebrow tweezer will not do a great job…

Now using your scissors cut between the letters

Then pull out the P &S in a sideways motion to pull it out from under the thread without pulling it up and pulling the threads…It will take a bit to get started but then when you get the hang of it is it much easier…

Now if your stem stitch does not look as nice as mine…you might want to get my just released book…after 20 years of teaching wool work and stitchery…I have put all the little secrets in here to make you the best stitcher possible!!!!

This book just shipped in the last week to all my pre-orders..(I thank you so much)…if you received it…I would love if you could take a minute and make an honest comment at the end of this post…then those of you who are on the fence…can read them and see if you have to have this in your library!!!! Here is a link to order the book.   Wool, Needle & Thread BookB1524-WoolNeedleThread-WEB

I will do another post soon about what’s inside the book soon!  Thanks so much and I hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial…

Have a great weekend! LB

Sat down this morning with my stitching friends to look at this book. We were all very impressed with the photos!! They showed every step that Lisa was talking about. No doubt this book will be by my side whenever I want to stitch something. Particularly if using a new or different stitch. Lots of helpful tips along the way as well!!

I love this book! I’ve learned so much in one sitting, and now I’m stitching with it at my side because it is chock-full of fantastic tips and clear, concise directions. It has so many great detailed pictures and diagrams that are easy to follow. Lisa has created an invaluable, one-of-a-kind resource for wool stitchers. I’m so glad I added this to my library of quilt books, since it is one I will turn to again and again😊👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻

Do like the book very much and recommending it to the groups I host. I use the press and seal method, but of course you had helpful tips. Thank you!

I own every book you have written Lisa, or certainly darn near! This book is wonderful! I am currently stitching my wool blocks of the week and have enjoyed referring to your new book. Your class I attended earlier this year really helped me perfect my stitches…I am now thrilled to move past the button hole stitch onto more challenging stitches that this summer blocks have encouraged 🙂

Just received the stitching book the other day. I’ve already referred to it several times. I’ve taken sit n sews with Lisa and this book reinforces and enhances what I’ve learned from her and since I forget things sometimes I have this wonderful reference book to refer to and get back on track. It’s like Lisa sitting next to me. Thanks for doing this, Lisa.

I just got this book and would highly recommend it. I took a wool class from Lisa at Road to CA but having the book is so nice. Lisa does such a good job explaining every step and there are plenty of photos included so you can actually see what she is talking about in the book. If you’re on the fence, just get it. You won’t be disappointed in the least. It is well worth the money. Thank you Lisa for putting this book together! You are amazing and such a good teacher and friend! ❤️

This is by far the best quilt book I have in my “quilt library”. The pictures are so succinct that this left-hander can easily figure out how to do the stitches. Lisa, thank you so much for putting out such a helpful tool, for “seasoned” quilters and newbies alike. I LOVE the book and went and had it spiral bound because I knew I would be using it a lot!

I had the good fortune of taking a class by Lisa and this book is just like having Lisa stitching with you! Talk about timing…it arrived the day that I was leaving for a week long retreat with my good friends. We have all been to The Gathering and very much enjoyed our time with Lisa and of course shopping at P.G. and meeting all her wonderful staff.

I have read the book cover to cover. It is a Great, Great Book … be sure to buy it!!

I got my book this week and it is all I hoped it would be. Lisa shares in one place an easy to reference collection of techniques for success for wool applique. The book details which tools, such as tweezers, she has found to work best, to the care of those tools, such as your (critical) steam iron. It includes a stitch dictionary for the stitches she uses most often. I was amazed at all the step by step photos. Open the book to most any page and one side is ALL photos, up close, detailed, so you can see exactly what the text is describing. The only thing that could be better is if you could look over Lisa’s shoulder as she did it, but even then I’m not sure you’d get a closer look.

I pre-ordered the book and got it last week. I was so excited that I read it cover-to-cover as soon as I sat down. I love it! I was worried that the pictures wouldn’t be enough because I’m a video person really. However, the pictures and advice are wonderful. I also like the education you give on tools, needles, threads, etc. Such a great book to have for reference. I’ve done that twice already! Thanks Lisa!!!

Thank you Lisa for the tutorial on using Press n Seal. I’ve never used it to stitch with before. And… your book is absolutely fabulous! It has pages and pages of stitches in it and even some patterns at the end. I preordered mine and I love it. Wish I would have had it sooner. It is well worth the cost. One of my “best” in my stitch library.
