Happy Block Heads Wednesday!..Wait…when you don’t follow the rules you have to wait til Friday to post!
Here is another great Quilt Block FOR OUR QUILT ALONG PROJECT: dream
I had to do it..I had to make 4 of these little blocks to make my 4″ block…I have so many little pieces in the blocks that it only makes sense to keep the little pieces all the way…I think this block is a Lisa Bongean’s Dream block…Thank you Sherri for naming it for me! It is ALL Half Square Triangles…I love the number 3 therefore the HST is my dream unit.
My goal here is to show you how painless it is to stitch these little blocks using Triangle Papers…also keep in mind all my fabrics have been heavily STARCHED. I think there is a misconception that just because they are tiny that they are fussy…really they are no big deal..
I used a total of 5 blues and one cream.
I figured out I need 16 HSTs A/B of the same two fabrics.( I had two extra when using the Charm Triangle paper shown)
I need 4 HSTs of A/B of each of 4 different fabrics…I used the same cream throught
I need 2 HST of C/D of four colors each… I picked out all my triangle papers…
Layered the Triangle Papers with my fabrics…light on top, right sides together.
Stitched on all the dashed lines…with a shorter stitch length…I have put together some quick videos….lol
Watch how I cut them apart…
Pressing and sorting…
Layout the triangles to form blocks…I do not remove dog-ears at this point.
Chain piecing HSTs…I do not pin them…just match them up…
Flip seams by finger pressing (it is easy b/c they are starched) and stitch together to form 4 patch HST units
Press and then trim all the strings and dogears…then Layout and stitch with larger HST uni… I do not pin. Layout each block again to make sure you have the orientation right.. Press seams in opposing directions and stitch together to make the blocks…Make 4.
Press last seam in each block open. Match up blocks and pin the center and each seam in the blocks and the ends. Stitch last block seam open as well.
I got too excited and forgot to video the last couple of seams…but here is the finished block again…
I hope you liked my quick videos…as you can see my block turned out pretty good!
Click the link below to get this week’s pattern and remember I made 4 of the blocks 2″ to make the 4″ block…the small triangles are 1/2″ and the larger are 1″.
OH! and I almost forgot…the winner of last week’s Moda Block Head Book 1 is…
Hildy
I love your block! I just need to make this week’s block for this round 3 … now if we would talk about round 1 & 2 … let’s just say it’s still a work in progress;-)

I love love love it! Thanks so much for showing us how you are making it too! Very informative. I am making my four inch blocks along with you each week just like you (I know I am a copy cat, hope you don’t mind) with your fabrics and triangle papers!
Thanks for the demonstration
On the side I am making your mini quilt Spare Time out of your urban gatherings. I was needing a bit of courage for the first time use of your triangle papers thanks
No wonder you get so much accomplished. You sew so fast! Lol
Thanks for the tips. I see you don’t use the ruler to cut, is that because they are so small, it’s easier to cut straight?
