Hey…I know I am not the only one who has a “soft spot” for pillows… I can’t tell you how many I have or have made in the last couple of years…they are soooooo fun, addictive and give your home just that special look without a lot of effort. And can i just mention that pillows make the best gifts! Especially when you need something quick. I have the perfect book for you….Mother Martingale has come up with another great book to help guide you in your pillow making!!!!
There are so many cool projects in this book…17 to be in fact! Here are a couple of my favorites from the book….I’m trying not to show you ALL of them…I am leaving 12 as a surprise!
Here is my project in the book…if you have any leftovers from American Quilter’s SAL you can make this…

And before I forget…see this tutorial on how to put in a zipper so you can use the same pillow form for your pillows.
I love pillows so much, esp. quilted ones!! My favorite one is made out of my momโs old denim shirt that she worked in outside. I miss her every day๐
I used leftover hexagons to make a pillow to match my 4th of July table topper. I love the stripes in the dresdan plate blades. It is a great challenge for me to use that idea and keep even seams.
I love making pillow covers and swapping the covers each season and with only a few pillow forms. How do you keep the corners full? Thank you for the zipper tutorial.
This book looks awesome! I love making pillows! I especially love your pillow! I will definitely be making one of those for my son, who is in the USAF, & my DIL.
Pieced and quilted pillows make a house a home and using the same pillow form is so smart to interchange for the seasons.love following your blog, such attractive designs and fabrics.
Ohhh… I would LOVE some of your beautiful fabrics to make a pillow!!! My brother has served 24 years in the Navy & will be retiring early next year. Thank you for all you do for our military who sacrifice so much for us!
For those who donโt like to do zippers, try using an old button-front shirt for the cushion back. The strip with the buttons/buttonholes goes across the back in place of a zipper. All you have to do is unbutton it to insert the pillow form. Works great and so cute!
Pillows are fun and yet another gift item I could make as a present for someone. This book looks fun just with your tease. Love your pillow of course. Nothing like a Dresdan to give that Pow! Thanks for the chance!
I love making pillows. Actually the last 2 years I have been making your Merry and the winter trees pillows as gifts People love them. I know I have your Ho Ho Ho you sent out too but I canโt find it. ๐ข
They are super fast and easy. Biggest plus is thru make a nice relaxing evening sew project.
My Mom made pillows trying different quilt blocks as she didnโt start quilting til she retired. She said she probably didnโt have enough time to make a bunch of quilts with all the other activities she did but pillows gave her a chance to try different quilt blocks & decorate too. I now have some of those pillows so I have her still with me plus my grandma as feed sack material is used in a few.
Lisa, I love the red and white (or maybe cream) pillows that were on your couch when you were showing the Santa pillow. Do you have a pattern for those pillows?
I have been watching the pillows in the past couple of years. Love them, but when I saw the pumpkin with the witch hat, I had to order the kit! Currently I am working on Christmas projects. But she is prepped and in line for after Christmas! Keep on bringing us your wonderful designs Lisa!!
I would brave the โfrozen northโ as we call anything above KY, lol, to visit your beautiful shop and learn. The pictures looked like so much fun. You have been an inspiration to me in starting to work with wool. Thank you. Pillows are a sure fire way to change the seasons at our house and I love changing them often.
Why did you do this to me? I am not into pillows, but after seeing your pillows, I want to make some for the couch and bed! (Chuckle). Canโt wait to see the others in the book.
I’ve recently been doing seasonal table toppers and my next move is to do seasonal pillows. It’s so nice to work on a project that can be completed fairly quickly. I haven’t put a zipper in any of my pillows so far so your pillow zipper tutorial is really timely. Thanks!
I recently finished your We Three Gnomes pillow and thanks to your tutorial I put a zipper in and couldnโt believe how easy it was and how sharp it looked! Thanks Lisa! Have a beautiful Thanksgiving with your family๐
I enjoy making pillows, as they are a quicker path to the gratification that comes with finishing a project. Making envelope or zipper closures really helps with storing the covers instead of entire pillows. I revisit your pillow demos often!
I like pillows and the red, white and blue is very striking! I am going to watch your tutorial on how to put a zipper in so I can simply change pillow covers!
I love making your pillows. Working on several Christmas ones right now. Love making chenilles. So comfy/cosy. Thanks for the zipper tutorial – now I can improve my technique.
