Heartfelt Quilt-Along Block Release 4

Heartfelt Logo HeaderHave you been participating in the Fat Quarter Shops’s charity Quilt-Along, Heartfelt?” For those of you who are unfamiliar with this great charity event, Heartfelt is an awesome project designed to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. I decided to participate in this fundraiser because I love kids and wanted to do something to help those who really need it. Make-A-Wish Foundation is a wonderful organization that has been making wishes come true for children with life-threatening conditions and their families for over 40 years. These granted wishes give the recipients and their loved ones much-needed joy, strength, and most importantly hope, which helps them to power forward in fighting their disease. To date, Make-A-Wish has collectively granted more than 520,000 wishes around the world since it was founded in 1980. How awesome is that!?!?

Have I piqued your interest yet? Let me tell you the details. “Heartfeltis a heart-themed quilt made up of six stunning sampler blocks, each featuring pieced hearts. It was designed by Corey Yoder based on her new Moda fabric line, Beautiful Day.” I decided to stick with the heart theme and do my quilt with all Valentine’s Day fabrics that I had leftover from earlier this last winter. I also decided to do my blocks half the size of what’s featured on the pattern (in other words I did 6″ blocks rather than the 12″ version that the pattern shows). If you follow the pattern, Heartfelt” measures 76.5″ x 84.5″ when finished.

I’m right on track with this project and have blocks one through four complete! I really love the way the Valentine’s Day fabrics look collaged together within the blocks. Being the recipient of a thoughtful valentine is one of the best feelings ever – especially one made by hand with love! Wouldn’t this make a perfect gift for your special someone next year? If you’re ready to get started on hit the link below for the full pattern and instructions (please remember to donate $5.00 for each download!).

This quilt is turning out to be really cute – I’m not going to want to let it go! I’ll have to have to figure out a way though, because once I get done with my version of this little beauty, I will be auctioning it off to help raise even more money for Make-A-Wish Foundation! I will be sad to give it up, but it really warms my heart knowing it is helping to contribute toward such a great cause. I guess I’ll just have to make another one to keep for myself! If you’d like to make my version of Heartfelt, you can find the Valentine’s Day fabric you’ll need for it on our website!Heartfelt is currently a free Quilt-Along and download on the Fat Quarter Shop website. Blocks are released one at a time, and will be posted to Fat Quarter Shop’s blog, The Jolly Jabber on the first Friday of each month, through September, 2022. They do not require it, but highly encourage that a $5.00 donation be made for the pattern if you’re able to do so. Proceeds go to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. If you’d rather make a donation directly to Make-A-Wish, follow the link below!

I will continue to post my progress here on my blog as I make my way through Heartfelt.” I sure hope you found some inspiration to join this Quilt-Along with a cause. There’s something extra special about giving back using your own hard work and talents. I appreciate having the opportunity to use mine to help kids facing adversity in their lives. Want to get involved? I would love it if you’d join me in this awesome Quilt-A-Long! Remember, Make-A-Wish Foundation relies on donations to make wishes come true and they can’t do it without our help! Ready to get on board? Hit the link below for more information!

Well, the weekend is just about here! Do you have anything fun and exciting planned? I am actually currently out of town teaching at the 45th annual Sauder Village Quilt Show in Ohio. I drove down with my friend and long-time coworker Amy for the week. You should see this place, it’s absolutely spectacular! There are literally hundreds of quilts to look at on full-length display. Just imagine the sea of color and creativity – eye candy at its best! We’re having a blast meeting new people and talking quilts with fellow stitchers from around the country. Of course, the party has to come to a close at some point so we’ll be back home by tomorrow already. Just in time for Nick and I to head out west for another one of my Vegas adventures with Val Krueger. If you recall, the last time I visited Val n NV her new pool was still under construction… In other words, a follow-up visit was a must! LOL!

Jess and Shelley did such a great job with both the Shop Talk and Stitch with Lisa Bongean LIVE broadcasts this week while I was gone. If you missed them you can always catch the replays by hitting the link below! They covered some important announcements, stitch-along clarifications, new items, sale items and more!

Alright, before I let you go I do have a couple of prize giveaways to say thanks to those of you who continue to comment on my blog and Stich with Lisa Bongean!” It really means a lot to us! This week’s comment winners are, Marcia B. and Gerri A. Woo hoo! As usual, I don’t want to post last names or email addresses for everyone’s privacy, so if you think you’re one of these lucky winners please check your email! I was a lucky student in your Friendship Rose mini quilt class on Wednesday. Thank you so much for an excellent day, student instruction, and well structured plan to move us from kit to pressed on design and stitch instruction. Of course, now I need to go to your Retreat House!

I am so intimidated by the small blocks you do. I need to take a few days and practice several to get them jus right. Thank you so much for sharing.
