Twilight Stars Quilt-Along – Block Release #15

Hey, everyone. T.G.I.F.! Is it just me, or did this week seem extra long and especially busy? It’s been nothing but go-go-go for several weeks now, and I feel like a day of rest for both Nick and I might be in order. It will have to wait just a bit longer for Sunday however, since I’ll be spending the day Saturday teaching at The Gathering for my All Things Pumpkin one-day fall retreat. I’ve been working on a few exclusive projects to make at the event for a couple of months now, so I’m really looking forward to sharing them with everyone attending. Plus, not to mention, I’m also looking forward to all the pumpkin-themed treats we’ll be indulging in thanks to the creative culinary team in the kitchen (did someone say pumpkin scones???). Even if I do have a hard time saying goodbye to summer every year it will be a wonderful and productive day that is sure to leave me more in the mood to welcome the fall season.

It wouldn’t feel like Friday if we didn’t talk about the latest release from the Twilight Stars Quilt-Along, so let’s do it, and get on with the weekend! If you watched me LIVE this week you might have heard me drop a not-so-subtle hint that one of the blocks for Week 15 is #78, leaving just one more block to be mentioned. In addition to #78, #81 also hits the books for Week 15 of the Twilight Stars QAL!

For those of you just joining us who want to know what my fabric selections are, I’m using my Rustic Gatherings fabric line combined with Jackie MacDonald’s Halloween-themed collection, SpellboundBoth lines feature color palettes including rusty oranges and rich blacks, along with some nice grey selections from Rustic Gatherings. Patterns for the quilt-along blocks can be found in my book Triangle Gatherings, which is required to participate (along with a few other items that can be purchased on our website by clicking HERE). A blog post I did explaining the full details on Twilight Stars can be found by clicking HERE. The full list of details and required supplies can be found at the Twilight Stars Info Page by hitting the button below!

If you’re keeping up with the QAL schedule, 28 blocks should be in your “finished” pile making 30 total after you finish today’s releases. I highly recommend that if you haven’t done so already, do yourself a favor and lay your finished blocks out all together so you can get a feel for what your quilt is going to turn out like. I have done it with mine several times along the way, and it’s beautiful… I can’t wait to see it finished! What do you think of your quilt so far? Is it turning out the way you envisioned or have things gone a bit rogue? Let me know how it’s going in the comments!

Have you been remembering to share your progress for a chance to win a package from Heidi’s famous prize vault? All you have to do is post a photo of your completed blocks each week before the release of the next batch, including the required book Triangle Gatherings and Primitive Gatherings Triangle Paper in the picture. Please also include the hashtag #TwilightStarsQAL in your post! Heidi will choose a winner randomly each week until the end of the QAL, which we will announce during my LIVE show on Thursday. Super easy! Need proof? Take Farah Masood for example. She did exactly that and now has a little something coming her way!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and manage to get outside for some fresh air before it’s too cold. It’s orchard season here in WI and l’m hoping to visit a few up north soon before all the leaves are gone, so maybe I’ll do that on Sunday if I’m feeling antsy. Nothing beats fresh picked apples, hot cider, and orchard-made apple pie… Special treats you can’t really find any other time of year. I mean sure, you can get all of those things year-round, but they just aren’t the same as fresh off the tree and out of the farmer’s own oven. Hey – if you know, you know. Words simply don’t do it justice!

Before I head out of Blog Land for the weekend, let me say thank you to Kim B. and Linda C. for their lovely comments last week. I really appreciate it which is why you both have prizes coming your way soon (check your email for a prize confirmation letter from Heidi. You may also reach out to her at heidin@primitivegatherings.us). If you’d like to be considered for a prize it’s easy to do – just leave me a comment and you’ve got a chance. Take care and I will see you all next week. Happy stitching, everyone! ~Lisa

This is actually the first quilt along that I have participated in and I’ve been able to do my two blocks a week, and have thoroughly enjoyed how it’s coming together. I look forward to every Friday to find out what the next two blocks are going to be. Although I’m anxious to finish, I think I’m going to be sad when the last ones are made.

I love everything pumpkin and pumpkin scones sound delicious!!! I so enjoy your lives, comment sold, and videos. I’m freshly inspired every week by your creativity and down to earth personality. I especially like that you tell us it’s ok to make mistakes and our finished projects don’t have to be perfect. I’m a perfectionist and it is liberating to follow this advice. Thank you for all you do!

I just received my Triangle Gatherings SAL book, papers and bundle and fabrics to start this QAL! I am so excited to get started and want to thank you Lisa and your entire staff for making all QALs so much fun. So, I guess I will start with 78 and 81 leaving me with only 28 to catch up *-*. Starting the Joyful Gatherings QAL also and having a blast with the trees, Lisa!! Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Hope you get to make an apple pie. My MIL makes the best and not often enough!

I don’t like saying goodbye to summer and won’t hang fall decor until fall officially starts but I do like getting apples and making homemade applesauce for my family, siblings and friends. I also have more time for piecing and wool appliqué when the weather gets cooler.

I hope you get a chance to go pick apples. I usually cook mine in a frying pan, with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
I serve them with country ham, and cheese and eggs.
I love all you do for us, you are such a giving person. May God bless you and your family always.
    Sincerely, Linda Crumpton.

    Just leaving a comment.
First of all many more Happy Anniversaries to both of you. You are a true inspiration to me. Your words-your pictures, and your ideas that I am trying to drill into my head. At my age, 81, I really need to pay attention!!!!
I don’t know how you do it with the word sleep, but don’t know where you have time to sleep.
You have made the quilting world a better place for everyone all over the world. I love your fabric choices, and need to get sewing and use them up to buy more. I only wish that you were in LA with your big lovely space for classes and retreats.
You are truly a blessed person for all you do and give away. Many good wishes for the coming holidays.
    My best always. Diane Schwarz

I’m not participating in this QAL, since I participated in the original before the book came out. My quilt is actually in the book and was on display in Houston. It is a great book and QAL. I’ve been busy with the wool and quilt box projects. I have saved the instructions and may decide later to do another. Thank you Lisa for all you do.

I love the Twilight Stars qal! I love Rustic Gatherings collection. I have a question, as I was working on #78, I noticed it is different than the posted complete #78. I am wondering what I did wrong.

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Hi Donna! You must have a copy of the “old” version of Triangle Gatherings, which has an error on that page. You can print an updated copy of the page at the Twilight Stars Info page by clicking the link below. Once you click it, scroll about halfway down and you will see a button for it. I hope this helps! If not, please feel free to give the girls in the shop a call at 920-722-7233 with any questions. Happy sewing! https://lisabongean.com/qals/qal-twilight-stars/
