Hey everyone. Merry Primitive Christmas! I hope you’ve had a chance to stop into the shop, or onto the website to take advantage of all the great things we have to offer during this exciting event. I know many of you are wondering about what our Make-n’-Take projects are, and what our FREE bonus patterns look like this year, but unfortunately we didn’t have the details 100% nailed down until late Wednesday night and I wasn’t able to show you before Thursday morning’s LIVE show.
In case you missed it, we kicked off Primitive Christmas bright and early yesterday with a special addition episode of STITCH with Lisa at 9:00 a.m. We did the show early so I could reveal what our 2023 Primitive Christmas Make-n’-Take projects are, as well as this year’s exclusive FREE pattern giveaways (with minimum purchase of $40.00). If you’re coming to the store to shop on Saturday, I strongly encourage you to stop by The Gathering to enjoy the 2023 Primitive Gatherings Red, White, and Green Quilt Show ($5.00 admission). While you’re there, grab a freshly baked cookie and glass of cider, and then sit down to make – and then take – one of these great projects! Plus, as a special treat, I will be doing a bed turning at 11:00 a.m. featuring a few of the red, white, and green quilts that live in my personal antique quilt collection. If you’re not local or just can’t make it out, don’t worry! All things Primitive Christmas are available online as well through Sunday, November 19th, 2023 (please remember that the retail shop will be CLOSED this Sunday, November 19th, 2023).
2023 Primitive Christmas Make-n’-Take Projects
Our first Make-n’-Take project option is the perfect stocking stuffer for a couple of reasons. If you haven’t figured it out yet, this year’s Primitive Christmas theme is all about ornaments. These ornament-shaped, gift card holders are super easy to make with functional results! Done simply with a couple of pieces of fabric and a 4″ hoop, the finished product is not only an adorable way to present a gift card (or other small item), but it could also be hung on the tree as an actual ornament. Plus, they fit perfectly into your best quilty-friend’s Christmas stocking! Get yours when you visit us in the store, or online in sets of six by clicking the button below!

Next up is another collection of ornaments that are nothing short of stunning. Impress your stitching friends with these intricate and unique, hanging wooden quilt blocks! Created by pressing two pieces of wood together with fabric in between, these go together fast and easy with an eye candy finish. They’re just the right size for a wreath or the tree at appx 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″. Choose from a variety of four, or buy them as a set by clicking the link below!

Third on the list in the Make-n’-Take department, are a variety of super fun and easy Mod Podge hanging ornament designs. Starting with a blank, round ceramic base, cut out and apply your favorite design from a choice of many festive and wintery scenes. This project is fast, easy, and fun for the whole family – kids too!

2023 Primitive Christmas Bonus Patterns – FREE with *$40.00 Minimum Purchase
Aside from our Make-n’-Take project options, I’m sure you’ve also heard the buzz about all the new and exclusive FREE bonus patterns that we are offering this Primitive Christmas. In the past we’ve always had three, maybe four pattern giveaways for Primitive Christmas, but this year there were so many great ideas flying around that we ended up with five total! Remember, all you have to do to get these FREE bonus pattern downloads is spend a minimum of $40.00 at Primitive Gatherings, either in-store or online between now and this Sunday, November 19th, 2023 and they’re all yours (purchase total does not include tax or shipping)! Let’s take a look at what you’ll be getting…
First on the FREE pattern list is this darling little wool appliqué project, perfect for a last minute gift. Sticking with the Primitive Christmas ornament theme, I designed my “Jingle Jolly Santa Ornie/Pin Cushion” to not only be adorable, but multifunctional as well. This handsome wool appliqué Santa can be done as a hanging tree ornament or as a pin cushion for your favorite sewing pal. Plus, to sweeten the pot we’ll be throwing in a kit for one of these cuties as well (Kits are chosen randomly – if you have a preference on which one you get, please make a note of it in the comment section when you order. We will do our best fill your request if possible, however, due to limited inventory there is no guarantee that you will receive your number one choice). Additional kits can be ordered on our website for $6.00. Thread kits for this project are also available!

Next in line on the FREE pattern list is a special treat for all of you half-square triangle lovers out there. “Joyful Mini Tree” measures in at a petite 17″ x 17.5″ when finished, making it just the right size to display on a clipboard or in a frame. If you’re looking for a nice gift for not a lot of money, at just $18.00 per the kit, “Joyful Mini Tree” is a steal. Grab a kit or three, and my famous triangle papers to make “Joyful Mini Tree” for all your friends by clicking the button below.

Quick, easy, and FAST – nothing makes flipping holiday décor quicker than decorative pillows! You’ll love the latest addition to the Primitive Gatherings Christmas pillow collection with this sweet new design from Jess. “Deer Christmas Pillow” measures 18″ x 19″ when finished, but I recommend using a 22″ pillow form to make sure it’s nice and PLUMP! Ready to order? You know what to do! Grab your kit, pillow form, and thread kit on our website by clicking the button below!

More of a wall art person? Check out “Merry Christmas to You!” This simple yet cheerful stitchery project can be done as a pillow, picture, or however you like. Why not make one of each for a matching set!? Kits are available to order and include fabric and threads for the pillow option (12″ x 12″) or the picture option shown below (finished frame size is 14″ x 14″, frame opening is 8″ x 8″).

Last but certainly not least on my Lisa Claus list, is a fantastic ornament-themed quilt that Alysha and I came up with while I was visiting her in CA. We call it, “All Decked Out.” Designing this pattern was a collective effort between the two of us where I worked on the appliqué portion of the quilt, and she took care of the piecing. You’ve gotta love a good symbiotic relationship – I think it turned out great! What do you think – do you love it? Not your thing? Let me know in the comments!
“All Decked Out” is done with a combination of cotton piecing and wool appliqué, and features large festive ornaments garnished with appliquéd stars and garland. It’s a good size quilt measuring at 62.5″ x 70″, and a nice display for the holidays anywhere you decide to put it. Both quilt and thread kits are available on the website by clicking below.

Whew! That’s a lot of patterns to explain in one blog post. See anything that trips your trigger? Just remember, the FREE bonus patterns are easy to get! Alright, everyone. I’ve just about had enough screen time for one day. I realize that I did not do a detailed blog post about today’s Twilight Stars Quilt-Along blocks yet, and I apologize. It’s been a busy day of juggling all things PG Christmas and I just never found the time. Block releases, however, have been available for download since noon on the landing page so you should already have access to them. Just in case you haven’t had a second to look, FYI they are block #’s 13 and 15. I will do a more detailed post over the weekend if I have a minute, or on Monday if I don’t. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and have lots of fun filling stockings with Primitive Christmas goodies. Just think of how good it will feel to put a dent in your Christmas list! I look forward to seeing you all next week. Until then, take care – and merry Primitive Christmas! ~Lisa
