Twilight Stars Quilt-Along – Block Release #37

You’re never going to believe this… It’s snowing! After all the mild weather this month it caught me a bit off guard when I looked up to see a squall of light, fluffy snow flying around outside the window this afternoon, pretty much out of nowhere. When I drove into work this morning it was bright and sunny. As far as I knew we weren’t supposed to get any snow today, so it was literally the last thing I expected to see. I can’t say I’m truly surprised, however, since it’s still only February, which means pretty much anything goes when it comes to the weather in WI. Either way, it still isn’t something we’ve had a chance to become accustomed to seeing much of so far this winter – and this winter is just about over! I will say, it sure is pretty. Light and fluffy, and falling ever so slowly. Magical, whimsical… It’s like the snow we SHOULD have seen around Christmas time. Better late than never, I guess. And good stitching weather if you’re in the area.

I’m pretty glad it’s Friday and I’m willing to bet you are too for more than one reason! Number one is obviously that the weekend is here! A close second is the fact that it’s time for the next block release in the Twilight Stars Quilt-Along! This week marks Week #37 off the list with block numbers 60 and 64!

We are more than half-way through this QAL and I have to say, it’s really starting to take shape! I have so many finished quilt blocks at this stage in the game that I finally had to graduate to an extra large PG Project Bag to house the beast (Need one? Get it by clicking HERE!). Hopefully you’ve taken the time to post a photo of your completed blocks for a chance to win a nice little prize! All you have to do to enter is post a photo of your completed blocks for the week along with the required book, Triangle Gatherings and Primitive Gatherings Triangle Paper included in the picture. You can post it on either our Facebook or Instagram pages (or both!) including the hashtag #TwilightStarsQAL. Kudos for week #36 goes out to Cheri Hahn Burrell! As you can see, Cheri LOVES her PG! We love her just as much which is why she has a charm pack and some caramels headed her way. Thanks for stitching along, Cheri!

Well, stitchers… I have just about had it with this week. If I hear the words, “glitch in the system” one more time I may just spontaneously combust (In case you didn’t catch it, I sent out a special update for those of you who are participating in the Black Star Flower Farm BOM, plan to participate in Liberty Gatherings BOM, or still need details on how to get Lisa’s Valentine’s Day Gnome pattern giveaway – read it by clicking HERE). I’m sure the same goes to anyone else here at PG that has felt the wrath of the technology that has simply refused to cooperate with us over the last.. well… You know. All we can say is, UGH! And THANK YOU to all of you for being so patient and bearing with us. Growing pains are never fun!!! This will all eventually pan out and it will be smooth sailing from there… Right? Have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday! ~Lisa

This qal has been good for developing my skills with small pieces. Can’t wait for the finished quilt. It will be huge with 1000s of pieces

The weather here in NYS has been crazy too. No snow, warmer temperatures and spring flowers starting to crop up. Oh well, I am lucky to have my quilting projects and piles lovely fabric to use.

I was thinking about when I first started quilting (45 years ago) and comparing it to the present time. We have so much information available. It is amazing. I look forward to watching the YouTube videos – especially Stitch with Lisa. Thank you to all the staff at Primitive Gatherings for making us feel part of quilting family. You do a wonderful job.

Lisa: I refer to snafus as hiccups. I’m sure things will get straightened out and it will be back one track. Looking forward to seeing what background fabrics you will be using for Liberty Gatherings. Black Flower Farms middle block is fantastic. Keep the snow up in WI. We prefer rain.

Congratulations to this week’s winner – the blocks look fantastic. It will be so fun to see everyone’s finishes! So sorry to hear about the computer challenges. I can’t begin to imagine everyone’s frustrations. Enjoy the snow and the beauty it brings!

How boring would life be if we didn’t have a few challenges along the way to help us learn something. I just wish the challenges didn’t seem to arrive so close together! Heidi’s prize packages from the weekly Live program are great but I have to say, as the recipient of the Garden Gatherings Shirtings tower from this week’s Live, I am overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. I need to let Heidi know her challenge is accepted for me to make the mini quilts. Thank you so much Lisa. BTW, sewing Docked to Perfection now and your flannels are sooo soft!
