Moda Blockheads 5 – Block Release #30 – “Shadow Star” by Lynne Hagmeier

Can you believe it? After 10 months of weekly assignments, once today’s block is complete we’ll officially be at the end of another Moda Blockheads series! Are you ready to wrap it up??? Lynne Hagmeier of Kansas Troubles Quilters takes us across the finish line with her block, “Shadow Star.” Traditionally designed, this block is made up some of our basic favorites including flying geese, simple squares, and rectangles – certainly nothing you can’t handle after slaying the last 40 weeks of MBH5!

Joking aside, if you’re still finding that you need a little guidance with this pattern, don’t fret. Just like with all of the MBH5 blocks, Moda was gracious enough to provide us with a video tutorial, complete with tips and tricks on how to complete the block with flying colors. Click HERE to watch!

I’m sure you’re sick of me mentioning it by now, but jut in case there are any new-comers wondering what the method to my madness is, please note that I did all my blocks in Bella Solid Silver (9900 183) for the background, and Bella Solid American Blue (9900 174) consistently throughout the entire quilt. For any additional colors, I used a combination of the soft, muted collection of Bella Solids that we put together for this project called “Sundown,” along with a new playful and vibrant Bella Solids collection called “Cozy.” Both collections are available for purchase on our website by clicking the buttons below!

Well…? Now what do we do?!? Just kidding – there’s literally always plenty to work on around here! And if you’re looking for the next great quilt-along to join, I’ve got you covered! Be sure to watch my blog in the next couple weeks for more information on my “Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along,” coming this August! The project will be a row-by-row quilt based on my new “Dear Santa” fabric line. There will be two layout options to choose from – one using the Santa Panel from “Dear Santa” and one where you don’t. It’s up to you!

Well, gang – it’s back to The Gathering I must go! I am currently in the middle of the first round of my “Naughty or Nice” retreat, and needless to say, I’m having a total blast! We’re working on a variety of projects including two new seasonal pillow designs, a full-size quilt, and an extra little barn quilt “bonus” project I threw in for stitch and giggles. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? If you’d like to see what everyone is working on, tune in to STITCH with Lisa Bongean tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. CST by clicking the STITCH” button below! Kali and crew will be on location at The Gathering where (if I can find a brave soul or two) I will be showing off not only my own, but some of my fellow retreater’s work too. Then after that, we’ll head over to the studio for our usual Thursday CommentSold party around 2:15p.m. Join us – the more the merrier! See you there! ~Lisa

Another beautiful MBH5 block! I am going to miss seeing your blocks each week, but look forward to seeing your finished quilt as I am not normally a ‘solid’ fabrics type, but like your fabric choices. Have fun with your retreaters, and I will be watching the replay of your live tomorrow. Thank you for all your inspiration, and thanks also to all the PG staff that help make all of it happen!
