Hey, everyone! What’s bright orange, super chill, and doesn’t care if your weekend plans involve pants? Meet Criss Cross – the tenth and latest addition to my Weekend Edition Quilt Series!
Hang onto your hats! At 76″ x 76″, this not-so-shy quilt is bold, cheerful, and easy enough to finish before Monday rolls in and starts making demands. The original design is done with two Bella Solids (Apricot and Porcelain), and steps outside the box by flipping the script and using the darker fabric as the background. Like it? You can get everything you need to make your version of Criss Cross just like I did on our website. Not big on the Creamsicle gone quilty look? Don’t panic! You can choose to make this quilt in any colorway you like, including mixing and matching to make it scrappy!

Staying true to the theme of the Weekend Edition Quilt Series, Criss Cross is a simple, no-fuss design that comes together fast, making it ideal for those situations when you need a big impact quilt without the time commitment. The pattern mainly consists of squares, but it also includes 36 flying geese in the mix. Now, for whatever reason, flying geese seem to be a lot of quilter’s “problem child” unit. If that sounds like you, don’t let that be a reason to shy away from this project. As usual, I put together a video tutorial that you can follow along with to help you conquer these pesky little birds. You can watch it on my YouTube channel, STITCH with Lisa Bongean by clicking the button below!

Criss Cross is equal parts fun and fabulous even though it’s simply made from a bunch of super easy squares and a few flying geese – there’s practically nothing to it! Just think about it… Whether you’re new to flying geese or just need a little refresher course on how FUN they are to make, this quick-finish could be the reason you finally learn to love them. Give it a try… You just never know!
Before I go, I should point out that if you’re new here and you’re wondering what the Weekend Edition Quilt Series is all about, you can find the details on the official “Weekend Edition Quilt Series Information Page” by clicking HERE! Interested in my other quilt-alongs? You can find them all at that link as well.
Alright, stitchers! On that note, I think it’s time for me to blow this “Creamsicle” stand so I can start getting into weekend mode myself. Enjoy your new assignment, happy stitching, and I will see you all next week! Take care. ~Lisa
