Hey, everyone! Moda Blockheads 6 is hot off the press again today, with the next block to add to the ever-growing mix! I know it feels like we just talked about the last release (since I was playing catchup earlier in the week), but that’s the beauty of this sew-along: the blocks keep coming, and our stacks keep growing!

Number 16 in the Moda Blockheads 6 series is Cloud Nine, designed by Debbie Maddy of Tiori Designs. Flying geese fans are going to love this block! This simple and fun pattern is made up of a basic four-patch in the center, with a flock of flying geese surrounding it in perfect formation. The layered shapes give it a light, airy feel — just the kind of dreamy design you’d expect from a name like Cloud Nine.

You’ll notice that the video is from a while back when we were still working on our Meet Me in the Garden QAL, but that won’t matter because the concepts are all the same!

For anyone joining the quilt-along late — or just needing a quick refresher — I’m sticking with a red, white, and blue theme. For my background fabrics, I’m using two gray Bella Solids: three yards of Steel 9900 184 (in place of Moda’s original white) and four yards of Graphite 9900 202 (instead of the navy). Both are available on our website — just click the buttons below. If you’re running short on lights, curated Fat Quarter bundles with 18 light fat quarters are available for $72. Darks aren’t bundled at the moment, so grab what you’ve got in your stash and mix and match to fill in.
