Hey, everyone! Just like clockwork, we’re standing at the top of the weekly hump once again, and as promised, I’m back at the keyboard to welcome this week’s addition to the Moda Blockheads 6 series! With how busy I’ve been lately, I was happy to find that Ninth Wonder by Jessica Rose of Quiltd Studios proves that a true quilting wonder doesn’t need to be fancy to play a key role in your layout. Jessica combines nine-patch units and setting pieces to create a structured yet balanced block design. She cleverly uses repeating squares and rectangles to reflect the organized simplicity of a classic nine-patch, but with a more modern and sophisticated feel.

If you’ve been craving a block that’s as flexible as it is fun, crave no more — Ninth Wonder fits that bill perfectly. Its straightforward geometric design allows this versatile block to slip seamlessly into almost any quilt! Speaking of fabric, as you probably know, I’m sticking with a red, white, and blue theme for my MBH6 quilt. For my background fabrics, I’m using two gray Bella Solids: three yards of Steel 9900 184 (in place of Moda’s original white) and four yards of Graphite 9900 202 (instead of the navy). Darks aren’t bundled at the moment, so grab what you’ve got in your stash and mix and match to fill in.
