Hey, everyone! What do you call a quilt that’s almost too big to be a “mini” but way too small to be a full-size? Around here, we just call her Eleanor — she doesn’t care about stereotypes, and that’s exactly why we love her. She’s the sassy new addition to my Monthly Mini Quilt Series, and with no new MBH6 block release this week, she conveniently gets the spotlight all to herself.
As you might recall, each quilt in the 2025 Monthly Mini Quilt Series is named after an inspirational woman in my life, including each of my mother’s nine sisters. Sadly, I didn’t get to know my Aunt Eleanor as well as some of my other aunties since she lived farther away, but I like to think she would have loved the quilt I chose to honor her with. Full of spunk and “big quilt” personality, this fun little mini is made entirely from simple squares and rectangles.

Eleanor is made up of nine blocks, but if you’d rather keep her closer in size to the other minis in the series, you can easily make just four. The quilt comes together easily using simple squares and rectangles. Not a fan of little pieces? Don’t worry! Even with the smaller pieces, this little beauty is a relaxing and satisfying project overall. HOT TIP: A little fabric starch goes a long way to keep those tiny units crisp, and using a smaller ruler — like a 5″ × 15″ — makes trimming and piecing easy as pie!
When all is said and done, Eleanor finishes at a cozy 28½” square — big enough to make a statement, small enough to whip up in a weekend. Whether you’re adding her to a table, a wall, or just want a satisfying project to keep your hands busy for a minute, Eleanor is your girl.
Well, have you fallen for Eleanor yet? Whether you’re stitching it for yourself, as a gift, or just because, this is the perfect project to brighten anyone’s day — especially yours! If you’d like to welcome Eleanor into your mini quilt family, grab the pattern and kit on our website by clicking the button above!
Before I let you go, I should elaborate on the fact that there will be no Moda Blockheads 6 block release today. They decided to do a “catch-up” week to give everyone a chance to get back on schedule (yesss). Don’t worry though, they didn’t leave us hanging. In lieu of a new block, Moda asked some of the participating designers to share their favorite setting ideas for their Blockheads 6 blocks. Options include something for everyone! You can find ideas from bold and modern to classic and cozy on the Moda Blockheads 6 main page by clicking the “Catch-Up” bottle – LOL! 🍟

That’s a wrap on today’s post! But don’t go far — tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. CST, I’m going LIVE on my YouTube channel, STITCH with Lisa Bongean! The girls and I will be spilling the tea about what’s going on at Primitive Gatherings, so brew your coffee, gather your stitching, and tune in to join the party. All you have to do to watch is click the STITCH icon below — see you there! ~Lisa
