Today is my 59th birthday, and like most special days around here, we’re celebrating it with freebies! Meet Chatty Jack, my latest Halloween-themed project. This wool appliqué on cotton cutie features a cheerful jack-o-lantern on one side and a cluster of hand-stitched words that sum up all the fun and spookiness of Halloween on the other!
My little buddy Jack is a fun and festive pattern that comes in two versions: the Primitive version, with earthy, classic tones, and the Modern version, with a brighter and bolder palette. The finished design (words and pumpkin) measures 8″ x 8″ and the framed area of the piece is 10″ x 10″ finished.

Well, friends, now that I’ve had my favorite cake and ice cream for lunch, it’s time to start thinking about birthday dinner! No fancy plans here… My pal Linda Hrcka is in town for her two-day custom quilting retreat this weekend at The Gathering, so we’re planning to go out for pizza, MORE CAKE, and MORE ice cream with the grands tonight. That’s all I want to do — spend time with my family and closest friends. The older I get, the more I believe that’s what life is really all about!
