Aunt Irene

Hey, everyone!

How was your weekend? Despite the chill in the air, the weather was way too nice for me to be cooped up in the house the whole time, so I spent as many hours outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine as I could. My house is all set for tick-or-treaters next week, and I did a final-final round of end-of-summer yard work, so we’re off the hook in that department, at least until the snow flies. We took a short — and brisk — ride in the pontoon before taking it out of the water for the season (probably should have done that last weekend), and winterized anything in the garage with an engine that still needed it — which is a lot of work and kind of a pain! Needless to say, I’m sad to put the summer toys away, but relieved to have the necessary maintenance done before things really freeze up.

Now that the outdoor chores are behind me for the season, it’s the perfect time to turn my attention to something a little more… IN-doorsy. Let’s talk mini quilts! This month’s Mini Series quilt will fit right in with your Autumn décor. She is lovingly called Irene, named after my Aunt Irene — one of my mom’s nine wonderful sisters. You might recall that each quilt in this year’s mini series is named for one of my aunties (and a few other important women in my life). While I didn’t get to see Aunt Irene very often growing up because she lived far away, she’s still an important part of our family story, and now an important part of my Primitive Gatherings Mini Quilt Series as well!

Irene measures 18″ x 18″ and is made up of quarter-square triangles in burnt orange and deep navy fabrics. So many small-sized quarter-square triangles might look scary at first, but don’t you dare let them intimidate you! Once they’re cut, pressed, and stitched into blocks, they come together in a clever way that’s aesthetically pleasing and fun to look at. If you’re feeling a little nervous about tackling those tiny triangles, click the STITCH button below to watch the short tutorial Kali and I put together to help you through!

Aunt Irene is ready and waiting for you to scoop her up in the shop or online, in printed format or as a digital download! Grab your pattern and kit by clicking the button above and you’ll have your very own Auntie Irene on your mini quilt family tree in no time. As for me, my version of Irene is done so it’s back to the grindstone because November will be here before we know it, and so will the next mini quilt release… I better get on it!

Just a quick heads-up before I bounce out of here for the evening… CommentSold fans, rejoice! With Primitive Christmas also coming up faster than a BERNINA 990 at full speed, things have been a zoo here at PG, so CommentSold hasn’t been airing as often lately — but good news! Jess and Heidi will be back tomorrow LIVE at 10:30 A.M. with all sorts of must-have and useful goodies to share! Hop on and shop via our Primitive Gatherings CommentSold app, or by visiting the LIVE videos area on our Facebook page. Then, I will see you back here on the blog this Wednesday for Moda Blockheads 6 block release number 22, and then again on Thursday on my YouTube channel, STITCH with Lisa Bongean. I’ll be going LIVE with the girls at our usual time, 1:00 P.M. CST. I hope you’ll join me… it’s definitely the best place to get the PG scoop straight from the horse’s mouth. Not to mention, there are prizes! What more do you need? See you there! ~Lisa

Hey there! CommentSold is our live shopping platform — kind of like QVC, but PG-style! We go LIVE through our Primitive Gatherings app (or through Facebook in the LIVE videos section) to show you new goodies, old favorites, onsies-twosies, and more! You can shop right from the video by hitting the product bubble on the app (or if on FB, just comment “SOLD” on the item you want, and it’ll automatically go into your cart). It’s fun, fast, and the best way to see what’s new without missing out! If you want to tune in, the best way to do it is to visit your app store and download the PG app. Register, and you’re in!

I have an Aunt Irene as well (my Dad’s last surviving sibling). This mini is one of my favorites!
