Criss-Cross Scotland Sauce

Hey, everyone!

As most of you know, I’m not at home right now because I’m on the trip of a lifetime in Scotland with Craftours.com. I obviously don’t have a whole lot of time to blog while I travel, but I wanted to pop on quickly just to let you all know that we made it here safe and sound, and that so far it’s everything I dreamed it would be! Today, we went on our first excursion of the trip and visited Lochcarron of Scotland, which is the world’s leading manufacturer of Tartan. In case you’re not familiar, Tartan is a woven fabric with a specific pattern of intersecting stripes of various colors and widths, traditionally made of wool, and most famously associated with Scotland. We got to see how Tartans are made and learned all about how they can represent a clan, family, or district by using different patterns and threads in specific orders. I really enjoyed experiencing the shop in person — it was a super cool and interesting day, to say the least!

Tartans aside, I couldn’t bring myself to skip posting about this week’s MBH6 release, considering it’s one of the few remaining blocks in the series… so here I am — putting Scotland on a VERY brief hold so we can talk about it. Let’s get to it!

Block number 23 is brought to us by Laura Muir of Create Joy Project. Her block, Criss-Cross Applesauce is packed with personality. It features flip-corner units and half-square triangles that come together to create a design that feels layered and dynamic. Overlapping geometric shapes weave through the block, while a tiny pinwheel is added to the center for a bit of extra flair. Depending on how you place your colors, you can make it look dimensional or sleek and modern. There’s plenty of room here to make it your own!

As always, I’m rolling along with my red, white, and blue palette in honor of American Gatherings III, due to be released this coming December. In case you want to follow suit, I’m using Steel 9900 184 (standing in for Moda’s white, which is unfortunately still temporarily sold-out) and Graphite 9900 202 (filling in for the navy). If you’re running low on lights, we still have curated Fat Quarter bundles with 18 light FQs available for $72. The darks aren’t bundled, so raid your stash and have some fun with it!

I’m sure you’re not surprised when I say that’s all I have for you today… Scotland is calling baby, and I’m not tryin’ to let it go to voicemail! LOL actually, it’s just after 11:30 p.m. here, so things are basically winding down for the day. Time for me to put my feet up and settle in for a little stitch session before I hit the hay, so I can be well rested and ready for whatever Craftours.com has in store for us tomorrow. Before I go, I do want to remind you to tune in for STITCH with Lisa LIVE tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. on my YouTube channel. I’m obviously not around to host, but Jess has graciously volunteered to fill in for me while I’m gone, which is great. Not sure what I’ll be doing at 1:00, but if I have a chance I’ll certainly hop on… maybe I’ll see you in the comments! Either way, I’ll see you soon. Ta ta for now! ~Lisa
