Back in the Saddle

Hey, everyone – welcome back!

Between Primitive Christmas, hosting Thanksgiving dinner, and trying to make my house feel like a second home for my extended family, I didn’t have a whole lot of time to sit down and blog over the extended weekend. Holiday chaos aside, Thanksgiving itself turned out better than I expected — relaxed, low-stress, full of love, and especially meaningful for all of us this year… since it was the first one without my mom since she passed. I know many of you understand.

Anyway, now that we’re all sufficiently stuffed and back to reality (sort of), let’s turn our attention to quilty things, and the going’s-on around Primitive Gatherings. As you probably know, our 2025 Scrappy Quilt Show has been up and running since Primitive Christmas — special thanks to everyone who’s visited it so far! Judging is complete and ribbons are out, but don’t worry — you still have a couple of weeks to see it. If you’re local enough to swing by, the show stays open for public viewing at The Gathering until December 19th, 2025. Consider this your official nudge to get over here and check it out! Just five bucks gets you in to view a spectacular collection of scrappy quilts from all over the U.S.A. — and prepare to be amazed! Not only will you be immersed in the definition of eye candy, your $5.00 admission at the door will go toward the Missions of Honor Program, a standalone organization formed in the image of Old Glory Honor Flight!

Can’t make it to see the quilt show in person? Don’t worry — I’ll be discussing some of the highlights and how judging went LIVE tomorrow on my YouTube channel, STITCH with Lisa Bongean. In addition to that, once Kali is done filming and photographing each quilt, she’ll edit it all together into one of her beautiful videos. When that’s done, you’ll be able to get a taste of its glory from wherever you are. We expect to see the finished product sometime after the first of the year. Stay tuned!

Did you make an entry to our Primitive Christmas basket drawing? Speaking of my LIVE show tomorrow, I’ll also be announcing the winners of those beautiful baskets we raffled off during Primitive Christmas. So if you entered your name and have been wondering whether luck was on your side, tune in tomorrow – Thursday, December 4th, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. CST to find out if you need to reach out and claim your prize!

Want to know what else I’m diving into during tomorrow’s LIVE show? How about an unboxing of Kim Jolly’s 2025 Jolly Box — that mysterious little package of exclusive holiday quilting goodness from Fat Quarter Shop! If you’re not familiar with it, the Jolly Box is Kim’s yearly limited edition mystery box that’s packed with festive sewing-themed goodies and notions that you won’t find anywhere else — especially this year, since they’re already sold out — bummer! Either way, it’s always fun to see what she has tucked inside the Holiday Jolly Box each season!

Tomorrow’s show feels like it’s going to be a fun one… in fact, while we’re on the subject I should mention that I have a couple of announcements I need to share with you, but I can’t quite spill the beans tonight – I need to work out the final details first! I guess you’ll just have to tune in tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. CST to find out what I’m talking about. Set a timer now so you don’t miss out! See you there. ~ Lisa

You are such a tease, Lisa! I may not watch you this afternoon live, but I’ll be watching later this afternoon/evening. Glad you had such a relaxing, loving Thanksgiving. We all need the chance to unwind. I’d say especially you since you seem to always be on the go, go, go! Lol!
