Shout-Out to the MVQS!

Hey, everyone!

Did you know this past Saturday was Local Quilt Shop Day? Every year on the fourth Saturday in January, The Fabric Shop Network and Fabric Shoppers Unite recognize this special day not only to celebrate independent quilt shops, but also to remind us why these small businesses are the backbone of our quilting community. As someone who runs a small business myself, I can’t stress enough how important it is to show up for your local shops. They’re not just places to buy fabric — they’re where help and inspiration can be found, new friendships blossom between creative people, and our quilting community actually lives and breathes!

If you were tuned in for my LIVE show yesterday, you might recall me mentioning that in honor of Local Quilt Shop Day, Moda Fabrics is running a contest to find the best local quilt shops out there — aka their “Moda Valued Quilt Shops” or MVQS (click HERE to watch if you missed it). Many of you commented during the show asking for a link to vote, which I’m going to share with you in just a bit, but first, let’s go over how this little contest works.

It’s really pretty simple. All you have to do is hop onto Instagram, find Moda’s account, and scroll until you see the gold winner’s cup post — or you can just use the link I’m going to share below to get there faster. Once you’re there, nominate your favorite local quilt shop in the comments (you know… like Primitive Gatherings, for example) and include why that particular shop means the most to you. That’s it! Winners will be announced on the continuing post by Moda on 02/02/26.

Winners get the honor of the MVQS title, and a select lucky few will receive Moda goody bags, which I am VERY curious about… Anyway, make sure you show your favorite local shop some love by nominating them. To help make it easier for you, here is a direct link to Moda’s post!

I hope you all have a nice and cozy weekend. I’m still adjusting to how cold it’s been since I got back from FL, but at least it’s not as bad as it was just a few days ago. Crazy as it sounds, it seemed almost “warm” at 14°F this morning after Mother Nature’s little tantrum last week — spring is coming! I know winter is long from over but there are definitely signs of it starting to think about packing up for the year. I don’t know about you, but I’m enjoying the few minutes of extra daylight each day. It’s still dark on my way home but you can see the sunset in the distance and it sure is pretty — and a sign of warmer days to come! Until then, keep warm by staying safe inside and of course… by stitching every day! See you all next week! ~Lisa
