Hey, everyone!
We’re onto the next quilt release in my Monthly Mini Quilt Series, and I have to say, this one holds a pretty special place in my heart. If you’ve been following along, you know that each quilt in this round of minis has been named after one of my mother’s nine sisters (and a couple of other super important woman in my life), and today, it’s my Auntie Linda’s turn!
Out of all those girls, Linda is my mom’s only younger sister. Growing up, her Wisconsin farm was one of my favorite places to visit because there were so many neat things to see, play with, and learn from — including my Uncle Pat’s souped-up Chevy Nova that my brothers still talk about to this day! One of MY favorite things about the farm was that Linda had the most breathtaking vegetable and flower gardens there… in fact, I’m pretty sure that’s where my own love of flowers and gardening came from. Watching her tend those gardens planted something in me (no pun intended) that never left, and to this day I credit her for showing me just how magnificent a well-loved garden can be.
At a mighty 14 1/2″ x 18 1/2″ in size, the Linda Mini Quilt was designed by my incredibly talented friend Pooja Garg, and based on a 60-degree triangle — not a shape you’ll see very often in my designs, but one that can definitely be a blast to work with. Just think… If quilters were knocking these out like champs in the 1800s without all the fancy tools and methods that we have today, just imagine what we can do with them now!

As far as fabric goes, Linda is a pretty low-maintenance kind of gal. You’ll need two creams (one with a colored or tone on tone print and one solid), one dark print, and a little extra for your backing and binding. Simple, focused, and ready for your own creative spin. Go traditional and controlled, or go off the rails and get scrappy — the choice is yours!
One thing that sets Linda apart from the other quilts in this series is that when you open the pattern, you’ll find templates included to get you started. Not a fan of templates? That’s cool too! If you’re more of a ruler person, a 60-degree triangle ruler works beautifully here as well. And if you’ve never worked with 60-degree triangles before, don’t let them intimidate you — they’re actually super fun and easy to sew, and before you know it you’ll be wondering why you didn’t try them sooner!
Excited to try something new? Adding Linda to your mini quilt menagerie is easy! Patterns are available in both printed and digital formats for your convenience. Kits including everything you need to make Linda are also available both in the shop and on our website by clicking the button below!

If you love this pretty little mini but feel like you might need some guidance along the way, fear not — I’ve got you covered! Kali and I put together a short tutorial video specifically for Linda that walks you through the process. Alright, my beautiful quilty friends — time to call it a day! It actually feels weird getting ready to head home even though it’s after 5:00 p.m. Weird only because when I just looked outside I saw something I haven’t seen in quite a while at this time of day… the sun! It really is amazing how fast the daylight starts to come back after we get past the Winter Solstice. It’s hard to believe that just a couple of weeks ago, it was completely dark by now. I know we just got several inches of new snow, and that the colder temps are back for a bit, but mark my words — spring is on the way! Truth be told, I don’t mind a couple more weeks of the white stuff, but I’m also looking forward to flip flops and tank tops. Soon enough, I suppose! Take care everyone! ~Lisa
