Happy New Year and welcome to the 2025 Primitive Gatherings Unity Quilt-Along Information Page! The wait is over and it’s finally time to kick off this highly anticipated quilt-along event! The Unity Quilt-Along will be a year-long project starting on Thursday, January 16th, 2025, and run for approximately one year (50 – 52 weeks total)! It’s a free block of the week that will be super scrappy and include a TON of both light and dark half-square triangles, lots of color, and be 98″ x 98″ when finished. The best part of it all, is that Unity Quilt is also one of my famous “mystery” quilts, which means you will not know exactly what the finished project will look like until it all comes together in the very end!

Now don’t worry, I realize it’s scary to jump into a year-long quilting commitment without knowing what the final piece will look like, but hopefully by now you know that you can trust me. I would never let you sacrifice the blood, sweat, and tears it takes to make something I don’t have 100% confidence in. C’mon… Take a leap of faith – I dare you!

TIMELINE:

• Each week of the quilt-along you will be making 9 sets of half-square triangles for a total of 36 sets per month until the end.

• For the first 8 weeks (or until the background comes in) you will only be stitching half-square triangle sets. In other words, your assignment will be to make 9 sets of half-square triangles each week, for a grand total of 72 sets at the end. Once the background arrives, you will then start making the mini blocks!

WHAT YOU NEED:

• 7 yards of background fabric

• Approximately 890 – 5″ squares for your blocks (445 dark, and 445 light)

• 8 packages of 1″ Primitive Gatherings Triangle Paper for charms – Click HERE to purchase!

• 1 yard binding fabric

• 3 yards of 108 wide fabric for backing – OR – 9 yards 45″ wide fabric for backing

For those of you who have never done a quilt-along before but have always wanted to give it a try, now’s your chance! This is the perfect opportunity to take on a larger scale project alongside a whole group of people who are working on the same thing, at relatively the same pace. Quilt and Sew-Alongs are wonderful resources in case you have issues or need advice. They come even complete with your own personal cheer team leading you through til the end! Plus, there’s prizes… Need I say more??? Give it a shot! Gather your supplies, get organized, set up shop, and join us! It’ll be fun, challenging, and you’ll have one heck of a quilt to show off at the end. I’ll do my very best to keep you on track – I promise!
