THE QUILT-ALONG:
This Quilt-Along will not only be a beautiful red, white, and blue tribute to our great country, but also another Primitive Gatherings fundraiser designed to support one of America’s greatest assets — our veterans. For every printed or downloaded pattern sold of Echoes From the Past, we will donate $10 to Missions of Honor, with a goal of funding an entire plane of veterans to New York. In addition, we’re also donating $10 for every fat quarter tower of American Gatherings III purchased from Primitive Gatherings, so if you already purchased one, you’ve already contributed $10 to the cause — thank you!
THE QUILT:
The Echoes From the Past Quilt-Along was inspired by a beautifully worn, but loved vintage patriotic star quilt I found years ago, that I am still madly in love with to this day. If it looks familiar, that’s because we gave it a test run during our 2025 Red, White & Blue Retreat at The Gathering last summer, with the plan to use it to honor our great country’s 250th birthday this year. Much like the Betsy QAL, this quilt-along is all about celebrating red, white, and blue — and our unconditional love for the U.S.A.! We hope you’ll join us, not only to quilt along with your fellow quilters, but also to help Primitive Gatherings continue to raise money to support the Missions of Honor Program. Echoes From the Past will be 78″ x 105″ when finished.
HOW IT WORKS:
The Echoes From the Past Quilt-Along will start in March 2026, and take ten months to complete. You will need to work on one red set, and one blue set of 21 star blocks each month to finish the project according to the quilt-along timeline (that’s a total of 42 blocks per month). Please remember to post photos of your progress in my STITCH with Lisa Bongean Facebook group. Heidi will pick prize winners from your posts each month. Winners will be announced during my LIVE show, STITCH with Lisa Bongean, which airs on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. on my STITCH with Lisa Bongean YouTube channel (tune in by clicking the STITCH icon below).
In addition, at the end of the quilt-along, one grand prize winner will be drawn from the monthly winners. That lucky person will either win a $250 Primitive Gatherings store credit, OR have their finished Echoes From the Past Quilt quilted by our fabulous longarm team, free of charge — whichever they choose! My only request is that if you decide to work ahead of schedule, please do not post photos of your work prematurely — post only for the correlating week. FABRIC REQUIREMENTS and RECOMMENDED SUPPLIES:

• 10 red fat quarters.
• 10 blue fat quarters.
* PLEASE NOTE: If you have an American Gatherings III Fat Quarter Tower, you will need to add one additional red fat quarter and one additional blue fat quarter to make 10 of each color (click HERE to order your American Gatherings III Fat Quarter Tower). Personally, I think this idea is a fun option since I like making quilts that are a little different incorporating my own fabrics whenever I can. Plus, doing it this way will give you unique results compared to using one of our kits. Please also note that you will have extra red and blue border fabric leftover — just in case you make a boo-boo.
• 1 yard red print for borders and binding.
• 1/3 yard blue print for borders.

As I mentioned, proceeds from the Echoes From the Past Quilt-Along help support the Missions of Honor Program, a nonprofit inspired by the Honor Flight Network. Like the Honor Flight Network, Missions of Honor is dedicated to giving our nation’s veterans meaningful experiences that recognize their service. Through funds raised by programs like this quilt-along, Missions of Honor helps send veterans on trips of a lifetime, connect with fellow service members, and provide opportunities for celebration and recognition.
