Here are some photos of last weekend’s fun…Nick and I and a few other boats went to Winneconne on Friday. We ate at the Fin and listened to a band on the patio…then off to Partridge Lake on Saturday to sit with all the boats on the sandbar. It was all nice until the dudes with the houseboat started playing their TECHO music for the whole lake. But oh well, you will have that. we then slipped at Hahn a Lulu Resort for Saturday night. We cooked out on a nice grassy area with picnic tables. Our menu included grilled haddock and little red potatoes, with a great strawberry-banana, almond salad, with my honey mustard poppyseed dressing…it was sooooo good. Then we took a shower at about 9pm and went to the “bar” for a while. I wanted to crash the wedding that was there—I had a craving for wedding cake…can you blame me? But no one was up to it…must be getting old…then the best part came Sunday morning when this wonderful smell came over the lake….on the way to the bathroom I discovered the source…they had a row and I mean a large row of grills lined up covered with CHICKEN! I had to run back to the boat to get my camera…I have never seen or noticed before how this was done…the old fashioned chicken bbq… I remember being at them growing up in Little Chute, I think the Legion put them on…but I never paid attention at how this was done…I was mesmerized….the guys even told me their secret to keeping all that chicken moist… and I am keeping it a secret, I pinky sweared it with the guys from the Fremont Invaders Snowmobile Club, that I wouldn’t tell their secret. The menu included half a chicken, fresh corn on the cob, a baked potato with sour cream, a fresh baked roll and chocolate milk…it was the perfect surprise meal to a great weekend…They would turn all this chicken by laying another grate with handles down on top of the chicken grab both sets of handles and flip it…I forgot how many guys it took but it was neat that they mass turned all that chicken at once…they were definitely professionals…so if you live in the area and are looking for that old fashioned chicken bbq….put this on your calendar for next year…they use all the proceeds to groom their trails and educating the young drivers and for all that stuff it takes to run a club…I remember belonging to a snowmobile club when I was a kid…my Dad and Mom were in the Little Chute Snowshoes…I know they had a lot of fun…Anyone know of any more Chicken BBQ’s happening around here? It is making my mouth water just thinking about it…THANKS! INVADERS SNOWMOBILE CLUB…I HAD A GREAT TIME…LB
