Designer mystery

Fat Quarter Shop is running a designer mystery block of the month and they asked ME to design a block for it! Along with the BOM they are doing a blog hop too!
The theme for the designer blog hop is “My Vintage Modern”, which is also the MODA fabric line the mystery quilt is made with…designed by Bonnie and Camille. We were all asked to find something that was “classic” to us….we had to send in a picture and they cropped it so it was harder to guess what each item was…you need to guess in my comment section and you will win a prize from Fat Quarters shop!!! A layer cake of my newest fabric line!

I am blogging from the cruise ship, so this will not be my best post ever…and you can hate me for a little bit for being in this 80 degree weather, but someone has to teach these ladies the blanket stitch, so why not me?

Here is my picture….can u guess what it is????do u need a clue???no clue….just do it….u can guess this one!20120210-174400.jpg

I've been married to the love of my life Nick, since 1998 when we started our crazy adventure together! I am a quilter, rugger, and gardener. I also love to cook when I get the chance. 1. I would have to say it would be a sandle, maybe with velcro straps and your wearing Socks??
      on your cruise ship

  1. Looks like a velcro strap on some sort of shoe or sandal ? But then again, the teather pulls look like it may just be stripe with a lace up on a shoe or some sort !! Ha ha ha… great cropping.

    Thanks for the hop !

  2. Must be a shoe (sneaker of some sort) . Good job of cropping the pic! Havea great cruise! Could use some of that 80 degree weather and sunshine where I live!

  3. No, those aren’t velcro straps – it’s the side of the shoe. You can just see the tongue and the loops where the laces thread through. Nike of course. Pretty funky shoes!

  4. Some snazzy tennis shoes! For some reason, those shoes always make me think of Mork from Ork– out of this world! 🙂 My daughters each had a super cool jacket that would have matched those shoes perfectly– one pink and the other blue with lots of that silver trim! As I said, — SNAZZY! 🙂

  5. It looks like an Adidas athletic shoe and it looks much cleaner and fresher than my athletic shoes which are not even a year old yet.

  6. I’m going to guess some vintage tennis shoes! Thanks for the giveaway! I’m excited to get my mystery blocks in the mail!

  7. Those silver straps, colored loops and the ‘swoosh’ tells me this is vintage Nike! Thanks for the brain teaser!

  8. I am thinking some brand of tennis shoe. The brand has me a little stumped, but they sure look like they are still in good condition. Do you wear them??

  9. It must be the straps of the sandals you are wearing on your cruise.
Think kindly of we cold folks you left back here in WI.

  10. The picture is of the top of a shoe – silver strips across it with some elastic bands. I bet they are comfortable and cute !

  11. Your vintage is an old favorite pair of Nike’s – a favorite pair you just can’t give up! Thanks for the give-away!

  12. I am inclined to saythis might be a Nike sports shoe and we are looking at the lacing part on the front of the shoe.

  13. I know those shoes…remember with pink was on all those gym shoes! Looks like at one time you took that walk seriously cause they are vintage. Hope I get to make something special with that fabric!

  14. You did give a clue with your comment of “Just Do It!” My guess is that it is a very CLEAN Nike sport shoe – I’ll use the old classic term of “sneaker.” Continue to enjoy your cruise!

  15. OMG, I had no clue… but it must be a part of athletic shoe, loops for the ribbon. Are they for running or for aerobic? I choose, they have to be your aerobic shoes ;o)

  16. My guess is that this is a Nike tennis shoe. Not sure of what the exact style is but would guess that it is a lace up tie style and there is some pink on the shoe.

  17. Aren’t those metalic sneakers snazzy?! Did they reflect light as well? 🙂 Have a great time on the cruise and that ring is gorgeous..lucky you!

  18. I think it is a Nike tennis shoe. It would have been great had it been a high top sneaker but it doesn’t look like it is. Thank you for the chance to win.

  19. The clue “just do it” tells me it is a Nike shoe. Probably nice and clean for your cruise. Enjoy the sun we had snow last night and it is 29 this morning so I’m wearing my nice and warm boots.

  20. It’s the side of a tennis shoe and the colored loops on the left are where the laces lace through.

  21. Am going with the flow and hope that it is a shoe??Thanks for the chance to win & enjoy the Cruise….Lucky you!

  22. Nike tennis shoes! And yes, I do hate you for being on that cruise LOL! Although we can’t complain about winter in Minnesota this year!

  23. It looks like straps across the top of a sandal to me. Most likely with velcro. Cause I have some like it!!!!

  24. It Is TENNIS… they have strings and tie and are my favorite kind – the strings run through those neat little loops…. Cool shoes.
If I wanted to get a bit crazy – I could guess something like – it’s a picture of a new fangled corsette – but – NOT.
    It’s a tennis shoe.
Thanks for the chance to win! Enjoy your travels.

  25. I think it’s a shiny side of your sneaker. I hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise. Isn’t Key West beautiful?

  26. Hahaha, I love your Unclue! I think the pic is the side of a NIke shoe of some sort, with silver accents and a hot pink swoosh!
(I apologize if I have sent this reply too many times, but It’s not showing up, even while others do)

  27. I think it looks like the side of a Nike Tennis shoe..the “just do it” sorta helped! LOL Great crop and fun blog hop. Thanks for the give away!! Have a great time on yoiur WARM cruise while we all freeze! 🙂

  28. Nike Athletic Shoes – Just Do It! from their award winning ad campaign – I looked for the Swoosh yet didn’t spot it in the photo.

  29. I have to agree that it’s some kind of shoe but since I don’t know what kind, I’ll go with the crowd and say Nike.

  30. Of course it is the lace-ups on your exercise shoes
(that you left behind and did not take on the cruise with you)
because you chose to take lots of pretty sandals and flip flops instead!!

  31. A pair of tennis shoes. Thanks for the prizes and fun game ladies. Good luck to everyone.

    Debbie Hall

  32. It does look like velcro on a tennis shoe…..but………..turn it sideways and it could be a buttonholed stitched “M” for MODA??????? You are a sneaky one!!!!

  33. I think it’s a vintage sneaker! Thanks for the giveaway! So excited to receive my mystery blocks in the mail!

  34. Looks like a shoe. Matter of fact, except for the color, it looks like one of my favorite sandals, three straps across the top and a strap around the back. How can I get a gig like that? It’s snowing here and I’m thinking a cruise would be sooooooo nice. Keep having fun!

  35. I must have wool applique on the brain but that is what it looks like to me. Wool applique letter m. My eyes are getting old.

  36. Hello! It’s gotta be a silver Nike with a pink swoosh! Very vintage and so cool that “pink” was in.
Thanks for the opportunity. Did I “just do it??”

  37. Looking like a shoe with lace ups. Cute! Thanks for a chance to win.

I love your blog and all your awesome projects.
Would love for you to come teach at our quilt guild in El Paso, Texas.

  38. It’s a vintage athletic shoe. I’m not sure of the brand….maybe K-Swiss? I don’t see it as being a Nike…maybe Addidas? It’s definitely an athletic shoe!

  39. It’s a lace up shoe of some sort — I am quite sure I never had a pair like it — always got the plain old white ones.

  40. The picture is a NIKE sports shoe, I can just see some shoe laces! So jealous you are on that cruise.

  41. I’m gonna try again. Just thinking I might wake up tomorrow and see i’ve posted several times, or none at all!

Yep, Nike shoe. Have a great cruise, “just do it”, the pictures are making me want to head south now.

  42. Happy cruising! Could you be wearing lace up tennis shoes or water shoes?!?! Whatever they are enjoy the sun and your beautiful new ring!

  43. i am guessing that it is some kind of a shoe with velcro straps…………thanks for the contest….

  44. A favorite pair of broken in, commfy tennis shoes. I absolutely love your fabrics. I visited your store this past summer and loved the ladies that work there and the store was fabulous. Much money was spent. ha.
    Cindy S.

  45. being that she sent the photo from a cruise ship it would have to be a three strap sandal .. maybe by Birki or Clarks

    1. I’m intimidated by all the Nike guesses, but I’m thinking it looks more like a little girl’s shoe – with the straps and buckles?

  46. Well, I have to go along with everyone else. I think it’s the decorative stripes on the Adidas tennis shoes. Have a great cruise!!

  47. I’m not sure of brand, but a tennis/athletic shoe.

Thanks for a chance to win.

  48. Honestly I have no idea. I thought about it and was going to say bowling glove, but everyone seems to think a tennis shoe?

  49. Let’s see. Your vintage modern has gotta be Nike!
The silver with velcro has that vintage modern feel!

  50. Has to be a 90’s or early 2000’s Nike! My husband just pulled his out of the closet and they are completely silver :o) Have a great time!

      1. Lisa it looks like an wrist, ankle , or knee brace. Hope you didn’t get hurt. Hope you enjoyed you cruise!
