and then I am the third….now we were asked to talk about our DREAM HOME…hmmm this was a photo I pinned the day before I was asked to send in a photo of my dream home…so off it went to Chelsey at FQS…but then the more I thought about this I actually have a confession…
Last Fall, Nick & I purchased what will become our Dream Home….it is a little rough right now…but it has some great possibilities…so lets visit a few of them…first…it is on a lake…Now if any of you know me…you know we have this wonderful floating cottage aka “our boat”. I love our boat, but here is the kicker…If we have a really HOT summer…our lake gets so green and full of algae, we cannot allow the dogs in the water! We have had a boat for 4 years…two of those years were HOT, no swimming…So our boat is now FOR SALE! Why would we want to sell our boat if we now have a Lakehouse? Well our boat is big…you can sleep on it…. no need for this big boat…it will have to be a fishing boat or PONTOON-Yeah, you know that song…On the pontoon..
Now…back to the Lakehouse…that is what we call it…I did not want a cottage…but my dear husband was not “letting it go” if you know what I mean…now I do not need another property to up keep….so when he said to me one Sunday…Hey …ya wanna go see this house on the lake? (you know how we talk up here)… It is only 25 miles from here? To get him off my back I said Yes, sure…and off we went…I knew I could find something wrong with it….Well…we arrived…and I took one look at the view and I was mesmerized….I did not want to leave…I was in love with that water!!! that sunset that was going to happen…those loons that were swimming by….I didn’t really care about the house as long as it wasn’t falling down…which it was not…
It was built in the 1920’s… this is a picture of it back then…now what do you notice? Yes…that is it! Its kind of secluded! we sit down at the end of a dead end and we are on a point…so water on two sides…Now there have been some updates, since then….some good…so not so good…Now here is the current pic as it sits in the wintertime….I am standing on the end of the dock…The house is now turd brown with turd brown trim….who paints a house brown with brown trim???? but look…see that by the edge of the water…on the left? That is a guest house! It is so cute…but again lots of brown and paneling (YUCK) and needs some love…
Now a peek at the inside…since September we have done a few things…painted…the walls were completely white…we added new appliances, new kitchen and bath knobs, and furnished it…that is it…we have been too busy to do anything else and I have decided we are not going to do anything until we know if it
major until we decide if it is going to be our lakehouse or our real house….We are going to spend this whole next summer enjoying it and the water before we dive into anything…
It is all open concept…my sewing room is out in the middle of the room…see my cutting table…the dining room, computer nook and kitchen is to the left. Now I wanted to keep this house bright and sunny and “lakehouse” like..
It was painted a nice grey…with yellow accents…I found some cool furniture…see that plaid couch? It looks like some wool I own!!! But as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted it for the lakehouse…
The best thing about the kitchen is I can reach in every cupboard…It was designed for a shorty like me!
A few more things…a little reading/stitching nook in my stitching room…Then the upstairs is one open loft…It was painted a nice blue and my cousin Rick made me these “old looking” head boards with the industrial lights in them…I just love how these turned out…I need to find something better than those dust ruffles…but the antique quilts sure add a big impact to this room!!!
This is all I am going to show you for now…and now that my “secret” is out…you know why I have been “pinning” lakehouse stuff on Pinterest!!! I will let you all know how my family and I are enjoying the our lakehouse…and keep you all posted! Hopefully it will become our DREAM house!
