Summer BOW

Summer BOW

After a wonderful week of Wedding (I promise to post about the wedding when we get the pictures back) it is back to work…If you are doing this summers BOW….this week you will be receiving our 6th block…How are you doing? Here is a challenge…each week just try to get them fused down…It is much easier to pick up these blocks if the prep work is done. I find the prep the tedious part…and the stitching the fun part…so try to get them at least fused for future stitching….All my blocks are done…I am working on the “setting” this is the hardest part because I have to find fabric that there is lots available. I also don’t know how many of you are going to order finishing kits….so that makes it hard too…. but it somehow always works out!

Keep Stitching!

Can’t wait each week to get the block!! I haven’t started it yet though. I want to finish last summer’s BOW first-just need to trim & sew them altogether, and do the borders. Thanks for the peek ahead. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

Hope you enjoyed the wedding….4 years ago both our girls got married.
We had a huge change….my quilting filled my “empty” time. This quilt is a beauty….could it be done in cotton? Can’t wait to see the pics of the wedding…brings back many lovely memories ♥

Great looking BOW… you can always offer two color ways for the setting? I agree with the prep being the most tedious… looking to get some prep out of the way today. Definitely looking forward to some wedding pics!

I am up to date with my first five blocks, however, I am still waiting to get the Valdani 12 #0575 which wasn’t included with my thread order (for both the BOW) and also the freebie set. I am anxiously awaiting block 6 which should come in the mail today….can’t wait to see the finishing kit, as I’m sure I will want it. Hope the wedding went well and I’m sure it was beautiful.

Your creation for this year’s BOW is out of this world, as usual, but sorry to say, I didn’t order it!! I am getting the pieced BOW and love that also. I just finished the wool version of Sweet Sixteen so that was a very ambitious project for me so had to wait awguke til I started another!

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Thanks Beth…maybe you can order it as a bom when we offer it monthly…:)

What beautiful blocks. Yep, wish I had ordered it as well. But, I am still on last year SBOW and since I am hand quilting My Favorite Things freebies from last years, I am a little slow going. Now that our quilt show is finished and most of the after show items are done, there is time for me to once again enjoy the process and look over the work I have done to make sure I’m not hurrying just to finish. Love working with wool. Thanks for your inspirations.

I absolutely adore those blocks! I knew I should have signed up for the BOM while I had time to do the stitching. Beautiful!

I was wondering am I too late to join in on this and catch up to everyone? Will I get the freebie mentioned in an earlier post? Love the colors. Thanks.

These are wonderful, makes me even more excited than I was already. I have been fusing mine as I get them and then stitching as time allows. This is a project I am sooo excited about!

I havea previous BOM in wool of yours that I havent started b/cuz I broke my wrist. Am just now getting back in my sewing room because of many complicatioins. Would love that to be my next project. I haven’t worked on wool before, what do you mean by “getting them fused down” this would probably make it easier on me. Thanks!!

Is it to late to get into the summer block of the week? I should have done it when I first saw it, but little did I know just how beautiful it would end up being.

This is the first time I am doing the block of the week and I am having so much fun with it so far i am able to keep up!! I have decided not to do the words though I dont trust myself to do the inking. Love this project!

thanks for the great idea of preparing the blocks at least. Do you ink the lettering before steaming on the pieces? That makes the most sense to me but wasn’t sure. Thanks, Lisa. I always enjoy your work.

This is my first year doing the BOW and each week I feel like I’m getting a birthday present. I love this program. I haven’t had a chance to get started until yesterday. I finally got out he first block and got it traced, fused and am ready to start stitching. I just think its really fun and easy and convenient to pick up and go. I’m going to be staying in a hotel tonight and am looking forward to stitching the entire block while I’m sitting in front of the tv. Thanks – this is like the gift that keeps on giving.

Lisa, Love this years BOW, great job! As always anxious to see all of it and look forward to Wednesday mail.

Michelle, use a window or light box and trace the words with pencil, then use the ink pen that Lisa recommends. Try this on scrap fabric first and see how this works for you.

Love the blocks and like others – feel like I’m getting a present every week! I’ve been able to keep up with fusing and stitching both the SBOW and the freebie. My goal is to have it completed by the end of the summer, quilted and hanging on my dining room wall! Thanks so much for this fun project. I needed something to inspire me to continue to quilt! Been in a slump lately!

I love the blocks and am almost up to date! I am new to hand stitching and would like to make a suggestion or comment…Can the instructions include a larger picture of your finished block so the stitching is visible or possibly provide some written information and suggesting stitching?

    Thanks

Thank-you for the peek at more of the blocks. I love them all. I really don’t know how you continue to out do yourself. Looking forward to seeing your setting.

I’m loving the SBOW, it’s the first year I’ve done this. Stitching on wool is wonderful- so easy. Thankyou for your tip to prep each block as you get it and then go back and stitch as time allows. I’m managing to nearly keep up by doing this. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

I have a question as I am about to begin tracing off my appliques on the fusible to get caught up and to prepare my blocks for our vacation in the mountains in August. My question is: Are the majority of the leaves just butted up against the stems or are the ends of the leaves layered underneath the stems?

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Some lie under and some just touch…look at the reversed shape that you should be tracing from…if it is bigger that the shape in the layout diagram it lies under…

      1. mel2quilt Avatar

Thanks, Lisa! I am so excited as my blocks are coming together.
