video for writing on your Words to Live by blocks…

Hey everyone…

Here is a video that Gene taped for Shop Owners at Market…I am showing it to you because you can see how I trace a word onto the block…I have to admit I am not at all comfortable doing this yet…it is all on the spot..no rehearsals…this is actually a retake because the first one the sound did not work…uuuggghhh…so that is why I had to trace on the charm square!!! but you get the idea just the same…I think I did about 6 videos at market for various people…but it is still not my favorite thing to do yet….but for you I will get better at it and hopefully more comfortable.

If you love your Summer Block of the Week…Words to Live by…show your local shop owner your blocks and tell them about this program through Moda and they can order it to run as a BOM in their shop next year.  All they have to do is  see their Moda rep to get all the details and order!!!

Thanks for the tutorial. I am almost finished with the blocks and have saved the “words” for last. This has been a wonderful portable project and I can’t wait for next summer………

I don’t know if you will see questions here, but I have one…. What font did you use for the “words”? Thanks.

Lisa, don’t be so hard on yourself, you did a wonderful job with the video. I enjoyed visiting with you at the quilt show and nice to meet your family. Thanks for all your beautiful designs.

May I suggest on the center medallion where you join 4 large squares together that you just use fat quarters. I would have gladly paid a little extra in order to have enough fabric to square off. One of my pieces of fabric was poorly cut and now I have to head out to the quilt store to purchase another piece! Thank you for a beautiful quilt. I would also suggest that maybe you may want to use a small zig zag to attach the freebie medallion that we did to the fabric instead of using applique glue. Mine shifted and I wish I had just used a small zig zag.

Mary…you will trim the center block down in the finishing directions….please next time call us so we can fix it if we have a mis cut…I had no problem with the glue….and my sewing machine doesn’t have a zig zag!….I write directions on how I do things…I don’t ever claim it is the only way! Thanks for the imput…

    Hi Lisa,
Your video was perfect. You spoke slowly, clearly and kept it easy to follow! Well done! I can hardly wait for more videos and more tips!
    Thanks!!

Thank you so much for posting this video. I have been trying to decide if I wanted to take the chance and put the words on the blocks. I’ve been nervous about getting it right. After seeing the video I’ve decided to give it a try. This is one of my entries for our quilt show next year and I’m very excited about getting it together and quilted. Thanks for all of the great things that come from your shop. I look forward to the SBOW!

Lisa, you did awesome! In such a short amount of time your presentation was great! I have taken 2 of your classes and wish I could do more, but this is the next best thing. The way you explain and show hands on is why I like your classes. 🙂

I am enjoying finishing my block of the week “Words to Live By” so much. BUT – I have to say a big THANKYOU to you for your designs and your shop girls for all they’ve done to stay on top of such amazing programs like these. I can only imagine how many moving parts there are to putting these programs together – so thank you! Please pass on my appreciation ;-).

Lisa, I loved the video!!!! PLEASE MAKE MORE!!!! My “Words to Live By” is coming along really well (I put off starting as I was a bit intimidated, but then I just dove into it 🙂 ). In my humble opinion your work is fantastic and following your written directions were for the most part very clear to me (I did have one question, which I called the shop and got answers) but having the option to tune in to a video would be wonderful! So, my next big project of yours will be the “A Primitive Garden” BOM which I’m almost embarrassed to say I purchased years ago at “Road to California” but was afraid to start… LOL not any more!! My hint for people (which you already wrote) is prep the block as soon as it comes… then my tip put the block along with any needed threads, a needle, small scissors in a baggie and toss it in your purse, when you have a couple of minutes whip it out and stitch away!!! I’ve completed 3 blocks this way.

Loved the video! Also loved your long hair too. The light pad looked very nice and I am very interested in this. It appeared relatively flat and super bright which I find the other boxes are not bright enough for these eyes of mine. Can you provide more info on brand as I would be interested in purchasing? It’s also nearing Christmas and “I” need some presents, are you going to blog about more favorites this year? That was great last year!!!
