Day 12…Needful Things for Quilters…

12 Days of Christmas 12

Hello…and welcome to our 2nd year of Needful Things….I am going to give you 12 things that I cannot “live” aka “quilt” without!…thanks for joining me this year…I appreciate all of you…please comment if you wish…Santa might come a little early…it has been a good year!

All of the 12 items I am showcasing are going to be on sale through the end of the year on our website.  This is going to be a lot of fun so hopefully you can find some of these items useful and want to own them…If you wish to gather a bunch of them and place an order at the end of the 12 days that is great too…or if you want to order them we will just keep sending what you order!!!

Please remember you do not have to buy them from us….you can also support your local shop if that is your wish…we should all LOVE and support our local shops!!!!

I just want to say first of all I am so so so sick…I have never had a cough burn down to my soul this bad before…but I think I am getting a little better everyday now…so hopefully I will make it!!!

The first new item that I cannot live without is my new seam ripper….It is called the Seam-fix…shown here…It has this new rubbery end to pull all the threads out that are stinkers to get out after pickin the stitches out…here is a video

UnknownUnknown-1I found onYoutube...Click Here to see how great this baby works….Now it comes in two sizes….The Regular size is $6.95 on sale for $5.60 and now the mini in the bright pink, neon and purple are $2.80.  These would make awesome stocking stuffers for your quilty friends…and you can never have too many of them…

If you would like to purchase this item here are the links to our site Seam-fix and Seam-fix mini

Sorry this is short and sweet…but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for me…Merry Quilting!!! Lisa

Thanks Lisa for sharing the Needful things again this year. Last year I believe it was your Dovo Scissors that I could not live without, got a gift certificate for Christmas from my wonderful sister and used it to purchase the scissors, I LOVE THEM. Hope you start to feel better real soon. Happy quilting!!!

Well I could have used that tool earlier this week when I took apart 80 half square triangles I wasn’t quite happy with (didn’t have Thangles either!) … maybe I will get one for my own stocking!
I am so glad you are doing the 12 days again – I learned so much from last year’s that I printed it out so I wouldn’t forget all your great tips!

I have seen this handy tool in action and it is on my list of must haves. I must admit the seam ripper gets a lot of use when I sew. I am one of those people where a mistake will keep me up at nights worrying until I do something about it!

I was so glad to see that you are doing the Twelve Days of Christmas again this year. I so enjoyed last years, in fact, I even bought my beloved Juki on your recommendation. Can’t wait to see what you recommend this year. Your tips last year were just so very helpful to me (ie Magic Sizing and saturating and ironing your fabric before cutting.)

So sorry you feel bad! I, too, am very excited that you are doing the 12 Days of Christmas again. Your tips from last year were very helpful, and yes, I took your recommendation and bought a Juki. Can’t wait for your next post.

Lisa, get better soon!! The Seam-Fix looks great. The minis would be excellent as favors for the Christmas meeting of my quilting group, but we meet next Tuesday and I don’t think even Santa could get them here fast enough. BTW, I’ve been using tweezers to remove those threads and sometimes it can be a pain. I enjoy your Needful Things postings very much.

I really enjoyed this list last year—found some things I couldn’t live without! This tool looks great! I’m always sewing those little things in my seams after ripping out and then have to go back and pick them out.
    Hope you feel better soon!

I’m sorry you are ill. It is no fun any time of year but especially now when there are sooooo many things to do. Hopefully you will be good as new soon. I definitely need one of these seam rippers. Getting those little threads out is a pain but I can see this makes it so much easier.

Oh Lisa, I think you where sick at this time last year! Oh my I really hope you get better before the Holidays get here!
I really looked forward to this years Needful things, I enjoyed it last year, kept my mind busy after losing my grandma who was my only family, teacher, mentor, my best friend. She was 94 and still telling me what fabrics I should use and how they would go together with what ever pattern we would pick. I really enjoy your blogs and your store we would joke if we lived near you we would really go broke! Thank you again for a wonderful year and I look forward to the upcoming new year and all that you have to offer! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I also hit up the paint department for the handle which I now use ALWAYS on both irons…keep one ready for wardrobe ironing and one for quilt ironing.

So sorry you are under the weather, especially at this time of the year! How about some good hot home made chicken soup? I swear by it and at 77, that’s a lot of swearing! I love this new little gadget, especially since I’ve been doing a lot of seam ripping lately. Sounds like a must have.

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Just remember we all make mistakes….just because we have been stitching for years doesn’t mean we never have to rip a few….LB

Oh thank you! I was wondering if you were going to do this again this year… it was last year that you introduced me to the Hera Marker. LOVE it! I honestly don’t think I would have ever bought one had you not explained how to use it… Now, the purchase of the Hera Marker has also got me (straight line) quilting on my machine! 🙂 These seam rippers are next on my list to try! I had seen a different video on youtube that shows these… and they show ripping the seam with the pieces of fabric closed. This (for me) helps to not distort the fabric while ripping… looking forward to the next item… sending well wishes your way…

I bought the smaller version of these just recently. I really like it but wish now I had gotten the larger one as I think it would be more comfortable to handle. The tip works great at getting out those pesky threads.
