Lisa has been overwhelmed with emails, comments, texts and Facebook posts.  She wanted me to send out a post to THANK Everyone from the bottom of her heart for all of the support you have given her in her time of need.  You don’t know how much this means to her to have this many people care about her and her family.  If you want to learn more about Lance he has a Facebook page dedicated to him that allows everyone to gather and post about their memories of him. The account already has 300 members.  If you are on Facebook search  In Loving Memory of Lance Van Groll   ask to be member and view all of the posts of this special guy.  Lisa has even posted a few.

Here is Lance’s Obituary if you have not read it yet.  Lance’s Obituary

Again,

Thank you for being there for her.

From a mom who has also lost a child, there are no words to express my heartfelt sorrow for you. God only gives us what HE thinks we can handle. We might not think we can but HE knows best. I envy you the time you had with Lance. I only had Cassandra for three years. Much love, K.

Lisa & Nick, If I remember right, when our group was at the Retreat House you brought us on a field trip to your warehouse and Lance was dying wool and he was so good natured when we messed with him. He also gave some of us an overview of what he had to do to dye the wool. I remember thinking how great it is that you are luck enough to have so many family and friends work with you. I believe he left you with thousands of good memories and his legacy will warm your heart and the hearts of many others. What a good example you are for your family. God has truly blessed you and will help you through this. I don’t know you that well but the first thing I wanted to do was hop in the car and come give you a huge hug and show support. God bless you and give you the comfort you need to get through all of this. Marlene

    Lisa and family,
I have visited the page on Facebook and the outpouring of memories and love are so beautiful. My heart aches for your loss. Lisa, from all the pictures, it is so obvious how much you love your sons. I felt your pride and love when you talked about them at the class I took in Hershey. I am diligently working on my table mat and have been since Christmas. I am stitching in honor of Lance and support for you and your entire family. Continued prayers are being said for you as I stitch.
To the huge quilting community that Lisa has taught and shared so much of herself with unlimited talent and feel so hopeless, let’s all of us hold a stitch a thon for Lance!
I only met you once Lisa but you shine with talent and passion.
    God Bless!
    Jo

    Lisa,

After my father died, someone told me this saying:

“Perhaps they are not stars in the sky,
But rather openings where our loved ones shine through
To show us how happy they are”

I hope you see a very bright star in the Wisconsin sky.

Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this very difficult time.

    Lisa, Nick, family, friends & co-workers;
Please accept my deepest sympathy at your great loss of such a wonderful young man! After reading your sad news I began reflecting on things and realized that life is so fragile at times. I forget to slow down, push the busyness away for a few moments, and really intently love, listen and affirm the precious family & friends that God has blessed me with. I will hold those I love a little tighter and a little longer when saying “hello” and “goodbye”. I have a faith & hope that this life is not the end; that Jesus comforted the disciples in John 14:1-6 by saying, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.”
May you each find a measure of peace in knowing that Lance is safe and at rest in the loving arm of the Lord Jesus . . . until you are, one day, reunited with him in heaven. In that day and place there will be no sorrow, only joy! Praying for you all, Laura

Oh Lisa what unspeakable pain you must feel. My friend’s 34 year old daughter died last week giving birth to their second child. This writing was part of her funeral and I think of it often:
“When you remember me, it means that you have carried something of who I am with you, that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that you summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us. It means that if we meet again you will know me. It means that even after I die, you can still see my face and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart.” “For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost.”
Frederick Buechner (Whistling in the Dark p. 100)
Your son will live on through you.

To the primitive gatherings family, our hearts go out to you at this time. Your poem shows the strength of the family you created, and the special bond of being a mother. We have all came to the conclusion that labeling our quilts is more important than we realize. Your son must have known how truly special he was. The Gathering Place. Rupert, Idaho
