I have safely made my way to CA from AL…I loved teaching in AL…Had two great classes with lots of smart women…most of them were software engineers, scientists and more than one were pilots of blackhawk helicopters! This would be an interesting group to spend more than a couple of days with…they are all from the Huntsville AL area where the NASA rockets are/were built…
And some of them even brought show and tell from the last time I was in AL in 2011.
One night after class June…took me to see the “old ” beautiful houses and then to the Lowell Mill…a closed but reopened old mill that is full of artists/craftmen’s spaces and food and entertainment…there was a band playing on the old loading dock…so much fun…thanks June for taking me!!!
Now I don’t want you to go too long between blocks…did no. 6 the night before I left…but did not take a pic to post..but you’ll forgive me…I hope..

I know you don’t need to know this but….I watch way too many Netflix series when I am gone…this guy is way to easy on the eyes…even when he’s full of mud from building the Union Pacific RR!! Cullen Bohannon-Hell on Wheels-I’m on season 5!! Anyone else watch this one yet? LB
Lisa, the TV series Hell on wheels was filmed just outside Calary, Alberta (where I’m from now) and my uncle was the buckboard driver for the four horse team–at 86!! Still going strong!
Thanks, Lisa – I am having so much fun making the Magic of Christmas. Glad you had a good time in Huntsville. My uncle spent his career at NASA. Lots of cool people in this area! Edie FrasierTallahassee FL
he IS very easy on the eyes. I started watching it, but haven’t seen it in a while. Makes me want to RR riding. ha! enjoy your trip and thanks for MOC block. looking forward to it’s construction!
Moon (my old man) and I have been binge watching Hell on Wheels!!!! Cullen is most certainly super hot, muddy or not! I think we are on season three. How many seasons are there? We have also started watching A Place to Call Home on DVD. It is excellent. Checkmit out when you are done with Hell.
The eyes! Always looking for Netflix referrals. We are doing Damages, man you have to pay attention to keep straight what all is going on, Glen Close is great.
Oh yes! I was addicted to “Hell on Wheels.” Especially Bohanan. I was also obsessed with Ragnar in the “Vikings” series. That’s one you should add to your list.
Fun to see what people have made from your patterns.
Love the look of the Lowell Mill–especially the chocolates! : ).
Thanks for block #6. I’m going to get to these eventually!
I loved Hell on Wheels, yep “Cullen” is easy on the eyes and I love the way they portrayed the depth of his character; but I especially liked “Eva” I can only imagine what it was like for the real life “Eva”…. Have you been to the Lowell mills in Massachusetts? I was stationed across the street from them and they are fascinating. See you at the shop 🙂
OMG…..Cullen on “Hell on Wheels “re-runs help me threw to the next season. Between him and “Longmire” on the TV in my sewing room, there is no reason to leave. This is my secret on how I get so much done on Lisa’s BOTW’s this year. Just finished Among Friends. Still working on the other two. Maybe this year with new season, I will get them done as well. Happy quilting…
I luv’d Hell on Wheels, watched the whole series, so bummed it is over. But I will watch
It forever in reruns, such a big fan of Cullen. Luv Alabama too. Was stationed @ Ft Rucker, AL 3 times in our military career. My husband was an instructor pilot. Great people and great area. We are retired now, live in Lakeland FL. Wish you could come here sometime, would luv to do one of your workshops.
Yes, loved Hell on Wheels and agree – Cullen is a pleasure to watch and love his voice/accent!
Watched on regular TV……hope he will be in future TV shows!
My husband really likes that series; we just finished season 1 of Stranger Things, starring talented Winona Ryder and rest of cast is excellent! Thank you for all Lisa.
Oh yeah – love me some Bohannon. Have you seen the FX show Justified? (Not on Netflix – pretty sure it’s on Amazon) Raylan Givens is SO hot and very easy on the eyes. I definitely have a type! Lol
No, but I have Netflix and I’m going to watch it! He reminds me of Lance. I only met him a couple of times when were at the retreat house but he was handsome. Thanks for another great block.

I’ve watched it from start to finish, and loved me some Bohanan . But you MUST also watch Justified and get hooked on some Raylan, mmmmmm. Another hot one !!! Loving the blocks, haven’t started yet, waiting to finish up with work in a couple weeks !
No I have not been watching Hell on Wheels but after looking at Cullen I will get it on my Netflix queue. Thanks for sharing and I just love your patterns
Yes I have watched “Hell on Wheels” and “Justified”!! Thank you so much for your great quilt along!! Not able to get to this one as we are on a little road trip. Stopped at your WI store this morning and am staying in Green Bay tonight ! Love the shop experience despite the water problems and the construction!!
Yes, was one of my favorites along with Madam Secretary and Grey’s Anatomy, now watchin NCIS. BTW, made the vegetable soup. We had lots of soup in the slow cooker; now eating the last of it over noodles! Recipes like that make for easy meals. Used “Better Than Bouillon” roasted beef base, and all the other goodies. Yum! Thanks, Lisa
Printed off Block 6 when we came home from our short trip north. Please check the labels of the pieces in the center row sections. The triangles labeled “E” the red should be “B” the light triangles. I am really enjoying making the blocks, have even made a few extras in reverse colorways.
I got back from a short trip up north and have this block printed out. These blocks look so great when done. But I think in the center row of the nine patches the large triangles labeled “E” should be labeled “B”
