Magic of Christmas…Blocks 14,15,16 & 17

PLEASE READ THIS POST BEFORE YOU PRINT OUT THE BLOCKS…THERE IS A CORRECTION TO ONE OF THEM…

I hope you all are doing well…I’m home…feeling good…got my mail sorted, laundry washed and dried…took a 2 hour nap with Jeter in the afternoon sun coming through the bedroom window…I promise 4 blocks today so here they are…

BLOCK 14img_8678

If you want to make the 8 1″ HST using the papers you will need to cut 4 squares of paper…measure and cut your red/white the size of the paper…then only cut 2 – 1 7/8″ squares in half instead of 6.

BLOCK 17

I have shown the 3/4″ triangle paper you need for this block…cut you red/white fabrics to the size of the paper…You will still need to cut 8 -1 5/8″ squares, cut in half once…for the FG units.

I hope this keeps you busy for a little bit…the MOC blocks will be coming fast and furious now…and THANKS again for being patient knowing I am working and not able to release these blocks in a normal pattern….

I so enjoyed the last post with Sylvia…thanks for giving her some words of encouragement…These blocks need to be starched wet/air dried, need to be cut right, 1/4″ seam needs to be right..you need to understand where the 1/4″ points of the triangles overhang…and then pressing seams, some open, so there are a whole lot of things that have to be in harmony for the blocks to come out good…I don’t say perfect because I’ve been known to let a few things slide if they are not detrimental to the outcome…

Tomorrow is “little man” day…I miss him so much!!!

Enjoy your 4 blocks!!!

Lisa, can you help with the Triangle Papers? I want to use them, but I’m not sure what pieces they’re replacing. In Block 14 is it the 1 7/8ths pieces? Then you wrote two 1 7/8ths pieces were still needed. Would those be in the red or white fabric?
Then, too, on Block 17 I’m assuming if I use the 3/4-inch papers that they are replacing the 1 5/8ths squares. I’m not sure how many Triangle Squares I need, and I am confused on what color 1 5/8ths squares I still need to cut after using the triangle papers. You said they were needed for the F/G pieces. (I think this should be F/C.)
Thanks for any help you can give. I hate to ask you when I know how busy you are.

Marci, I am working on Block 14 right now. I am using Thangles for the eight F/C pieces. That leaves two C pieces cut at 1 7/8″ in white that are used in the center of the block and four F pieces cut at 1 7/8″ used with the A pieces to make the flying geese around the outside of the block. Hope this helps you.

Oh, Karen! Thank you. I really appreciate it. I literally, right this minute, am diving into Block 14! I made a quick check to see if there was any help with this issue, and there was your answer. Yahoo!

Thanks Karen…I guess I need to explain better and not just assume that quilter know this stuff…

Marci, you’re welcome. No problem asking for help; that is how we all learn something new. Hope you are having fun with this. Just remember there’s more than one way to look at a pattern. Don’t be afraid to break down the units and do something a different way if you are more comfortable with it. Just relax and enjoy!

I know that you are very busy with so much happening at this time of the year. I was wondering when you might post the black and white directions for block 17? Thank you for all your hard work. I am enjoying this sewing adventure with you!

I printed all 25 of the magic of Christmas blocks but haven’t seen the finished layout yet. Could you please direct me to that?
    Thank you
