Some of you were asking about my Santa made from an old quilt…I purchased it already made at the Houston Show this year, so I have no pattern…sorry…It was my big purchase as he was $350 but so very worth it…I love supporting those who work with their hands and will love this Santa for years to come…I usually purchase an antique quilt at every show, but this time Santa came home…I’m glad you love him!!!
I am doing really well!…thanks for all the good wishes as I recover and who knows what’s going to come of this “down time”….I might start stitching tonight on my snowball quilt binding…I made sure I has some hand projects to work on when I was ready or on a “netflix” binge…I think I’m ready to do more than just lay there!!!
hope you are getting those 6″ blocks finished up!!! LB Does anyone have them all done yet?
Glad you are doing well, rest when you need to and don’t over do it. Looking forward to seeing your setting options, block stitching will continue Saturday at my lqs Soup “N Sew. Finished blocks posted look wonderful, these quilts will be beautiful. Thank you again Lisa for great patterns.
I purchased a Santa (with sewing things in his arms) in Houston from the same lady. Her Santa’s were so cute and creative and she was just delightful to talk to. Glad to hear you are doing well. Have a great Christmas!
Hi Shari C.
I hope you read this!!! Please share the name of the lady with the quilted Santas in Huston. I know I
Will never get to go so I would love to know how to get in touch with her. Please write me back!!!

Lisa, The quilted Santa is adorable. Glad you are doing well. My MOC blocks are still on hold – found some unexpected Christmas presents to stitch before the box goes in the mail…. Merry Christmas, Edie

I haven’t finished my blocks yet so I’m thinking this will be a New Years quilt. I love the fact that it’s red and white so it’s not holiday specific. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and this wonderful quilt❣️ Glad to hear your recovery is going well. Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season 🎄
One block to go! I have enjoyed all of them and want to thank you so much for the challenge that some of these little blocks created – it felt good to focus on detailed, precision piecing rather than some of my appliqué projects. Looking forward to seeing the layouts for finishing and getting this one completed. Be sure and rest – take care.
So glad to hear your doing good. Any kind of female surgery is not fun to say the least. Hand work is how I recovered from mine. It helped me keep my sanity. Wishing you a speedy recovery. More important to share, don’t rush it. It does set you back.
No I am not caught up with my blocks. As a non tiny pieces it was taking me forever. I had Christmas projects to work on. I will get back to it right after Christmas. I do love the ones I’ve finished so I’ll continue for sure.
Wishing you, Nick and your family a Blessed Christmas filled with love and friendship. Hugs
Glad you are feeling better. I have finished all the blocks and posted on IG. They were such fun to make. Thanks for the patterns, I am looking forward to see the setting options!
I am on the last one.
Just got the back fabric I ordered from Drew for Clara’s Star Will get to her soon.
Decided to ink the thread in the dark blue borders on Among Friends so I can get it to Drew for display. I probly will tear out quilting when it comes back to me to rest. It looks lots better with the inked thread but eventually I will have to do it right. Thank you for the help.
Love your santa and your beautiful new house.
Sure hope you are feeling better after your surgery and your Christmas will be a great one.
Not sure if you know how to “take it easy” but try.
Great retreat!!!! Loved all our special projects.
Warm quilt hugs my friend.

I was keeping up so well with them and then I don’t know what happened! I’m on #12. I guess I’d better get busy! Hope you are feeling better each day – get lots of rest, those surgeries take more out of us than we think.
Loved seeing you at Houston, but knew somethings wasn’t quite right. Glad you are doing good…these women things just get in the way don’t they? Stay down and let your Nick and family take care of you! I collect Santas made from old quilts too…but didn’t see this one, probably because you already had it! Good for you. This is a good time for you to take care of you and maybe, just maybe come up with some of your spectacular designs. Many blessings to you and yours this Christmas season!
Hi – I’m on #20 still plugging away 🙂 It’s been a lot of learning to make these blocks – thank you for the challenge! Some of the blocks I made several of and I chose a small range of reds but am generally doing the “city” version. I will post at some point! I love the falling snow on the blog 🙂
Wow, the santa is fantastic. I am sure you have many hand projects to keep yourself busy, but don’t over do it. I know it’s hard to slow down especially as busy of a lady as you are. Hopefully you will heal and recover well, and feel better soon. It would of been awful hard for me to take apart that quilt to make the Santa, but oh, how I love it. Merry Christmas to you and your family! Blessings to you all.
Very happy to hear you are doing well and improving. You made two purchases….your gorgeous Santa and a beautiful quilt ! I do have a question about block #24. I am not sure which one is correct ? You most recently posted this again and it is different from what I have. Which is correct for the light fabric B ? 2″ or 1 3/8″ Thank you. pltasker@med.umich.edu
Lovely Santa! I want to say thank you for this Quilt Along! I feel a bit guilty for having saved all the blocks yet stitching nothing as of yet. Hopefully I can make this in the next year and share with you!
Glad to hear you are getting better. Boredom is the key to getting back to work. I have 17 of the blocks finished but saw one in my picture that has one of the rows turned the wrong way so I will be taking that apart and making it right. The blocks have been a challenge but so fun. Can’t wait to see the finishing.
Do you or anyone else remember the name of the lady with the Santas, I would love to see if she has any more available. I wasn’t able to make it to Houston this year. Love yours! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Ever since making your “Garden of Stitches” design when you were designing as ‘Backyard Quilts’ many, many years ago I have enjoyed so many Primitive Gathering pieced and wool appliqué projects. Thank you for continuing to inspire me. I just finished the 25th block and look forward to stitching them into a beautiful quilt. These did challenge my piecing skills and I enjoyed every moment (maybe not the un-stitching on some). Wishing you quick healing and a Merry Christmas!
Glad you are feeling better. I have 14 of the blocks done, holidays got in the way, but hopefully I can get the remaining ones done while I am on Christmas break. Absolutely love the quilted Santa! I wish you and your family the Merriest of Christmases!
Yes mine are done, but with some variations. Started out I was glad to get back to some piecing and ended up being glad to be done. Just too much challenge on some of the last ones. Sorry. But looking forward to getting the setting done as it is going to look great. Get well soon, but take advantage of your down time.
It sounds like you’re in good hands with Nick watching over you. I had to go back to work full time so have not had the time to work on the blocks but I did get 3 done before I started working so I will put them on facebook. I love that you are putting the paper triangle sizes on the blocks. I do much better with them in getting my points right. Take care of youself. We need you. You are such an inspiration. Hugs and Merry Christmas to you and all your family.
Lisa thanks for a Moc blocks. i posted them on instagram. i hurried to finish them so the 25 block was not lying flat as i raced to show you. but now it is. loved the challenge these blocks gave to push myself. waiting for the settings now. I used one BG and rest different reds. this will definitely remind me of you every Christmas. Enjoy Christmas and a hoping a speedy recovery. i went on instagram just for you. Loved the santa and hope you can share her contacts or web address so i too can have a cute one. love the falling snow as i live in a country that does not look a desert anymore. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you n your loved ones.
Enjoying seeing all the blocks for Magic of Christmas. Can’t wait to see the setting options you share. Hope these days are finding you on the mend and enjoying some down time. I hope you share more photos of your home decorated for the holidays. I just love that old quilt Santa and I can see why you purchased it.. Lovely details! Have a Merry Holiday!
Lisa, just finished the blocks and I am very glad  they were all not all like 24…..that one was a dilly.  Thank you so much for the lovely blocks and am looking forward to your finishing suggestions. Karen Meyer cmu.1951@gmail.comÂ
Hopefully this won,t be a repeat as thought I had posted but don’t find it. I am wondering if it’s possible to make the moc blocks 12″ instead of 6. I would rather larger pieces to work with and a larger quilt. Please let me know your thoughts and feelings. Rest and heal and have a Merry Christmas!
What a handsome santa! Does he have a coat on or a long vest? Yes he will be part of your Christmases for a long time. Happy healing, resting now reduces problems later…..take good care and have a blessed Christmas with your loved ones.
You are so awesome! I don’t think I’ve read anything like this
before. So nice to find someone with a few genuine thoughts on this topic.
Seriously.. thank you for starting this up. This web site is one thing that’s needed on the
web, someone with some originality!
