DAY 1โ€ฆJUKI SEWING MACHINEย TL2010Q ย & ย THE NEW SCANT 1/4″ FOOT!!!

So for those of you who have a JUKI already..here’s what we have all been waiting for!!!! ย I have to admit…I was skeptical…but…I was happily surprised…I stitched this new miniimg_9171…and it was amazing…I tried to derail it by trying to run over a dog ear…no wouldn’t do it!!! I first put my foot on and it was perfectly lined up with my usual tape bumper…so off came the tape…I happily stitched this whole mini and was very pleased! ย The only thing…you have the put the other regular foot on when doing triangle paper…I managed to do TP with it on, but it was very difficulty to see…and I will not do it again…So here is the new foot if you need to order it!!! ย NEW 1/4″FOOT– we have them on sale for $ ย  We also have a few other things for you JUKI owners…oil with a spout…remember to oil those machines…and extra bobbins!!!ย images-phpimg_9120

Now for those of you who do not own a JUKI…Please read…

tl10q_lgEvery year so far people ask…Will you please do the Juki again this year?…. so here it is AGAIN!โ€ฆ..by popular demandโ€ฆAND you could win yours free!!!

Now I know we pretty much all have a sewing machineโ€ฆor two or three or even moreโ€ฆBut I just have to talk about the sewing machine I use 99% of the timeโ€ฆIt is my #1 Needful thingโ€ฆMost of you probably have never heard of Jukiโ€ฆso let me just say they are not new to the marketโ€ฆJuki is well known in the garment industry and are mostly industrial machines. I think I have had a Juki for about 10 years nowโ€ฆI also own 2 Berninas, 1060 and a 1530, and a couple of featherweightsโ€ฆone black and one white. I confess this to you so you also know what I am comparing to and you all know I teach all across the country and have stitched on many machines.

I bought the Juki with the intention to use it as a second machine to have set up for machine quilting my little quilts, and also so I didnโ€™t have to change the walking foot from my regular foot on my Berninaโ€ฆthat would have been nice, right?โ€ฆJuki has entered the quilt world with a semi-industrial machine for quilters. Here are a few of the features that the Juki machines haveโ€ฆall metalโ€ฆno plastic bobbins, no plastic feet, comes with all sorts of feet including 2 free motion feet and a walking foot, a larger 9โ€ณ opening between the body and the arm, so machine quilting would be easier to handle. It has a nice extension table, this is nice for retreats, I have it embedded in my table usually. The machine ONLY stitches straight. Now this might be an issue for some, but I was only going to use this for machine quiltingโ€ฆThe fact that it only stitches straight is actually a plusโ€ฆnice tension all the time, single hole throat plate . It holds large cones as well as regular threadโ€ฆIt has an automatic thread cutter, automatic needle threader , knee lift and stitches 1500 stitches per minute or something like that, in other words it is FAST. It comes with a walking foot and other feet for doing free motion quiltingโ€ฆI use the regular foot and stitch up against a bumper to get a scant quarter inchโ€ฆ Here are all the particulars from the manufacturer:

The NEW Juki TL-2010Q is a high-performance sewing and quilting machine. The TL-2010Q is a single needle, lock-stitch, portable machine, constructed of aluminum die-casting to ensure industrial-quality sewing.

With advanced features, such an industrial sub-tension system, variable speed control slider, and bright white LED lighting, this machine is built for precision sewing. With a large work area of up to 23 inches (with auxiliary table attached), the TL-2000Qi can handle large quilt, sewing or home decor project with ease.

Advanced Thread TrimmingJuki_TL-2010Q_FootControllerjuki_tl-2010q_footcontroller
The New TL-2010Q allows you to trim top and bobbin threads using the Exclusive foot controlled trimming system.

Just rock your heel back on the foot control, and thread is quickly and precisely cut.

Automatic Thread Trimmer Juki_TL-2010Q_ThreadTrimmerjuki_tl-2010q_threadtrimmer
The machine is also equipped with an automatic thread button that simultaneously trims the needle and bobbin threads at the sewing end by lightly pressing the push-button.

Both the Trim Button and the Foot Controller engage the advanced Juki industrial style thread trimming mechanism.

No More Twists or QuiversJuki_TL-2010Q_SubTensionUnitjuki_tl-2010q_subtensionunit
The Sub Tension Unit ensures thread feeding to the needle is smooth, even and twist free, no matter how thick your thread is.

It also keeps the thread from quivering when sewing at high speeds and provides accurate, fine tuned thread tension.

Thread Tension ScaleJuki_TL-2010Q_ThreadTensionjuki_tl-2010q_threadtension
The machine also has the thread tension scale, which allows you to adjust the tension according to the thread and material to be used.
Maximum Speed ControlJuki_TL-2010Q_SpeedControl
The new speed control lever gives you complete control over sewing speed.

Set the speed from 200 to 1500 stitches per minute, or any speed in between for free motion, and precision sewing.juki_tl-2010q_speedcontrol

heavy
Materials are sewn with Ease
The microcomputer controlled, speed control mechanism, allows the machine to sew materials at low speeds. This provides for accurate feed and perfect stitching when sewing heavy weight fabric, quilting and multiple layers of materials.

PresseJuki_TL-2010Q_PressureFootr Foot Pressure Adjustmentjuki_tl-2010q_pressurefoot
Presser foot pressure can be adjusted according to the fabric being sewn by turning a regulator located on the top of the machine.

Needle Up/Down ControlJuki_TL-2010Q_StopPositionjuki_tl-2010q_stoppositionWhen you stop sewing, the machine will stop with the needle in the down position to allow for pivoting or more accurate free motion work.

To move the needle up or down as desired, simply press the needle up/down button.

Truly Illuminatingjuki_tl-2010q_ledlightThe new, bright-white LJuki_TL-2010Q_LEDLightED lighting, provides an illuminated view of the sewing area and allows for more precise sewing.

Automatic Needle ThreaderJuki_TL-

juki_tl-2010q_autoneedlethreader2010Q_AutoNeedleThreader
The push lever automatic needle threader easily threads the needle without eyestrain and allows you to start sewing quickly.

juki_tl-2010q_bobbinreplacement

Easy Bobbin ReplacementJuki_TL-2010Q_BobbinReplacement

A new bobbin case latch and an enlarged bobbin case area make it easier to remove and replace the bobbin.

Nothing Free Motion Quilts Better Than ย Juki quilting feetquiltingfeet
Juki’s rich tradition in quilting continues with the TL-2010Q.

The feed dog can be raised and lowered simply by depressing a switch. When quilting, the drop feed allows you to sew curved stitches with precision and ease.

Juki 1/4 Inch and 1/5 Inch Quilting Feet
The quilting feet are designed for free motion quilting and free-hand embroidery. Just lower the feed dogs and stitch away.

Juki Even Feed Foot Juki_TL-2010Q_FeedFootjuki_tl-2010q_feedfoot
With its reliable feed, the even feed foot ensures the machine’s ability to produce beautiful seams when sewing difficult-to-feed fabrics such as georgette and velvets, as well as heavy weight materials such as leather.

juki_tl-2010q_kneelifterKnee Lifter Lever Juki_TL-2010Q_KneeLifter
The knee lifter level allows you to lift/lower the presser foot without using your hands. The presser foot can be raised as high as 12mm.

After stitching on this machine and using it. I did not want to stitch on anything else. It โ€œpiecesโ€ beautifullyโ€ฆI didnโ€™t have to hang on to my threads at the start, the feed dogs are nice and close together and fed my little pieces in nicely. Having the single hole meant my piecing wasnโ€™t sucked down into that oblong holeโ€ฆ and againโ€ฆI could stitch, cut my thread with my foot(or there is a button, but I like my hands free to hold on to my patches) knee lift my presser foot and be on to the next thingโ€ฆI especially love piecing triangle paper on the Juki for all the reasons I just statedโ€ฆNow I know being fast really should not be an issue, right? We want to be accurate! But let me tell you, if I am stitching strips, borders or you name itโ€ฆfast is handyโ€ฆI tried going back to my โ€œregularโ€ machine to piece onโ€ฆit was almost painful!!! Just shoot meโ€ฆI loan this machine at The Gathering, but it comes with a warningโ€ฆif you stitch with it you WILL be going home with it! I think only one person didnโ€™t buy one after she stitched on it for a weekendโ€ฆlolโ€ฆThey also have updated the Juki recentlyโ€ฆI have a TL98Q (old model at home) and the new modelTL2010 Q1 I have in the studio, they have updated to an LED lightโ€ฆthey have added a Turtle and a Hare button, if you want to control how fast it can goโ€ฆand they changed the foot pedal, a bitโ€ฆI love both of them and even though they are slightly different I can stitch on both on them with no problem even though they have slightly different foot pedals and controls.

So if you are ever in the market for a machine, please check out the Jukiโ€™s and you can read all the technical words I should have used to explain it. I sell only the Juki 2010Q1 at my store in WIโ€ฆI could sell other machines but remember what I said, I only sell what I useโ€ฆtherefore I sell the Jukiโ€™s. I am placing the Juki 2010Qi on sale now until the end of the year at a special of $899-(yesโ€ฆnot a typo $948.95 if you are in WI we have to add tax) which includes shipping too. This is a great deal. We will order more for this same price as long as you order before the end of the year. JUKI In 2016 they will go back to $999.00 still a great price when you think about what you all get with this machine! Please allow a few weeks for deliveryโ€ฆClick HERE to order. ย Your card will be charged as soon as you place your order with out new compliant cc processing. If you are the winner we will be crediting your card back.

Last year we sold over 50 machinesโ€ฆand gave one away to ย ALBERTA BAILEY… If we make it over 50 this year…one of you who purchases will get theirs FREE too!!! Those odds are pretty good!!!

I will be posting the winner for the machine on NEW YEARS DAY …

The 5 winners of the pin bowls are:

I just saw your blog on how i spend or wish to spend Christmas. I spend Christmas on call for my hospital emergency surgery dept. I have done this job for45 years. Since i have no more small children in the group i have chosen to take call so others can spend the day with their small children. This may seem like a thankless gesture but the day after to hear all their family stories and the smiles on my co workers faces. It was worth it. Thank you for your inspiring thoughts. MERRY CHRISTMAS! CINDY

Hi Lisa, That picture of you and Lance is just lovely. I agree with you, 100 is too short too, my Grandma was 102 and full of the Irish. Traditionsโ€ฆI love watching all the Christmas movies, and my crude sense of humor cracks up watching โ€œMr Hankeyโ€™s Christmas Specialโ€ with my son. Hidee Ho! Jakey

Our Christmas is so steeped in tradition I donโ€™t even know which one to choose, but they evolve as the family dynamics change. I donโ€™t continue to do what doesnโ€™t work anymore just because โ€œitโ€™s traditionโ€.
I guess my favorite was as we were raising our family. Every year for over 20 years we would get a hotel room in Salt Lake City across from Temple Square, which is a magical fairyland of lights during the holidays. We would visit the Square, go shopping in the nearby malls, visit the candy window displays of a local department store, eat out (which we rarely did when our kids were little), and enjoy a new experience each yearโ€“from a trolley ride, to a carriage ride, a planetarium display or a childrenโ€™s museum. Always something different. It wasnโ€™t always easy to come up with the funds for these excursions, but what memories we made!
This was a touching post, Lisa, and I loved what you said about choosing to be happy. A friend whose beloved Grandma passed on Christmas years ago has never loved Christmas since. But her grandma loved Christmas, and I think she would be sad to see her granddaughter mope through this special season because of her passing.

We still wait for Santa on Christmas Eve..seriously Santa lands on the roof. As he gets older we help him out with a ladder.

My grandfather and uncle started the tradition and hearing boots on the roof takes me right back to being a kid.

Merry Christmas to all!

Merry Christmas, dear Lisa. Thanks so much for all you do. I have been inspired by your designs since I first discovered Primitive Gatherings in 2012. Once I had the privilege of taking classes with you, and following you in social media, I appreciate even more who you are and how much you give to others. You have become a member of my heart family. Hope you have a wonderful new beginning in the lake house with your darling family and sweet grandbabyโค๐ŸŽ„

Hi, Lisa, I always look forward to your posts. I am in the market for a new machine. I have had a Viking 500 since 1999, and have had no issues. But, the foot bed is small and makes machine quilting difficult. I am wondering what the largest size quilt you have quilted on the Juki. Thank you for your time. Merry Christmas!

My octogenarian aunt has an old Juki that is as tough an old bird as she is–they both keep running like champs and I’d put my money on either of them against any shiny young thing any day! Really, Aunt Betty’s machine convinced me that bells and whistles aren’t what matter when you’re shopping for a machine, and Juki seems like it has what it takes to go the distance.

Oh I hope that this will be a Juki Christmas for someone who is really deserving! I have wanted a Juki for some time, but can easily put this purchase in my budget for 2017 if a try really hard!
I know that there are so many others who have met with devistation during the year either with health issues or weather incidents, I hope The Christmas Child guides your hand in picking a Winner!!!
Blessings to you, Lisa and all your Staff…

I am a gadget girl both in the sewing room and in the kitchen. I believe I have almost every one of your favorite things except for the Juki. I like the fact that it only does one thing (well) and is all metal. I absolutely love my Bernina 44QE but it was down for about 6 months a couple of years ago and I’m fearful it could go south again in the future. It was an electronic (computer) problem. With electronics they become outdated and then might not be able to be fixed. I would dearly love to have one of these Jukies, especially since you so highly recommend them. Thanks for the opportunity to be a winner. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!! See you at RD2CA next month!!!!!!!

Merry Christmas! I have really enjoyed your “12 Days…” Our family is grown and we were blessed with our first Great Grandchild this year! So that our children can enjoy their Christmas day at home with their children, we get together the second weekend in December at our house. We are usually free on Christmas Day to serve a free meal to people in our community. Our Culver’s restaurant donates the space and a lot of the food. This year, my husband Terry and I will be delivering meals to the shut ins in Dodgeville, WI. One of my goals for 2017 is to visit your store in Wisconsin! Merry Christmas from Jan Tilleraas

A new sewing machine would be wonderful. I have 2 inexpensive machines & I trade off using them. Sometimes one decides it doesn’t want to sew good for me so I switch off to the other one and vice-versa. I had 2 real good machines and they both broke down in the same week several years ago, right in the middle of sewing for other people. So, I sent my husband off with a few hundred dollars and said buy me a machine. All I wanted was a machine that sewed zig zag and straight stitches. That is what he bought me. It sews OK but not like the Bernina or ancient Singer did. Oh how wonderful Christmas would be to own the Juki that you are talking about. Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!!

I love these 12 Days of Christmas. I look forward to the emails every day during the 12 days. This is the time of year I love to sew and make gifts. It has gotten harder to find the time to do, but I do make at least some. My sister-in-law and I use to write letters to each other a couple of times a week to compare where we were on our gifts. (before computers) She is the reason I sew. I lost her 7 years ago and miss her a lot. She was not a quilter, but made clothes like you would not believe. I did teach her how to quilt and cross stitch. She was an avid cross stitcher…but not so much a quilter. She made all of her things on an old Singer in a cabinet. Thank you for your posts, sales and give aways! I have really enjoyed them. I have been saving to buy this machine, but I am a bit short this year. So I have my “Juki money” in a separate account and will keep saving. Hopefully you will do it again next year! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Wow …. would like be this machine…, I only have one machine …an old kenmoreโ˜น๏ธ. Can’t do machine appliquรฉ with it because I can’t get the stitch length small enough . And it is a real challenge to quilt on so I try to keep my quilts small

Merry Christmas Lisa! I have a Juki TL98Q that I bought with a midarm frame about 10 years ago. I don’t use the frame anymore and when I took the Juki off and started piecing with it there was no going back. I too have 2 Berninas and do not use them unless absolutely necessary. I LOVE the thread cutter on my Juki!!! May have to try the new foot altho I have never liked a rail type 1/4″ foot before. Would be SO happy to have a new machine!

I have a Juki 2010Q that I purchased from Lisa a few years ago and absolutely love it. I am also the owner of 2 Berninas but really love my Juki. It has all the features you need for quilting. If you are on the fence about purchasing this machine, BUY IT. You will not regret your decision!!! I would love to win the Juki to give to my daughter-in-law, who has caught the quilting bug from me. She had the same look on her face that I did, when she finished her first quilt top a few weeks ago I love being able to share my passion with her and to be able to share my quilting knowledge with another generation. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Thanks for the info on the sewing machine! I am still using my Bernette that I got a long time ago… and mostly because it is simple and does the job. I always loved that it has all metal parts etc. and I mostly use it for the straight stitch. I know I need to get a new one and had never considered the Juki. Now I will! because it has the features I like and hadn’t seen in anything else! ! But, we are just getting a kid through college, I will have to wait, but I know where to go! Thanks again for the 12 Days, I have things in my cart and better get it complete before they are gone! Merry Christmas to your family!

I would definitely be a super proud owner
If you would give me one instead of a loaner.
I’d piece and piece, and sew and sew,
My husband would say” now where did she go.”
A great way to start the pending new year,
So please pick me,and be a dear.

Merry Christmas! Thanks for all the opportunities! 11 of your 12 things are also my needful things. This was the only one not on my list. Two years ago when I did buy a new machine it was one of the two I was going to get. I went with the Bernina only because I was replacing my Brother and needed other stitches other than just straight. This would be a great machine to have, though since 99% of the time all I do is straight stitch. Thank you again. You are a blast!

Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your talents and generous heart. I love your beautiful creations and value your teaching advice and tips. I have been watching your needful list for 3 years now. Every year I say, “Next year, if it is on sale, I’m getting a Juki”……and then life and family happen. But that’s okay since there is nothing more precious than family and grateful for than life itself. Wishing you and your loved ones a Very Merry Christmas. Hope you do the sale again next year since there are probably many of us who will be watching for it again.

I love all of your needful things and the fact that you only sell the things you use. If you like the Juki better than your Berninas then it must truly be an awesome machine. I remember when Handiquilter first started selling tabletop frames and a vendor at a quilt show used a Juki on her frame because it was fast and had the largest throat available at the time. I was intrigued at the time but my Bernina was not that old so even though I’ve looked at them online I’ve never pursued getting one. I don’t think the price of them have changed much since that time either which is also amazing. I’d love to win one…that would be amazing! Thanks for the chance and Merry Christmas!

i was so excited to see that you were offering this machine again. I have wanted one for quite awhile I wrestled with buying myself such a treat but justified it by making the decision to pass one of my machines to my grandchildren to use,I have 5 granddaughters and 2 boys. This year I am at my daughters and my grandson said “Nana I love my quilt and I never go anywhere without taking it with me”. He is 8 years old and he is on his second quilt that he took everywhere. The first quilt is unrepairable but I am saving to make him something when he graduates from high school. My daughter said Mom we do not have blankets anymore only the quilts you have made. So I figure I had better get another machine so I can make more quilts. The are memories that my kiddos will have forever.

I made your Christmas Strawberry Slush recipe yesterday and the grand kids loved it at dinner tonight! Thanks for sharing! I thoroughly enjoyed your needful things list. Some of the items I already have in my sewing room and others are new to me and have been added to my definitely should consider list. The ruler boxes are so charming and I wish I still needed a magnetic pin bowl because yours are much more stylish and prettier than what I have. Thank you so much for your Christmas Magic patterns and setting instructions. Waiting for each new pattern was like waiting for Santa to arrive. My machine is an old New Home and has 7 decorative stitches. That is generally OK as I don’t do much on it other than piece; some times I’ll do a small bit of free motion “quilting” on baby quilts. Would very much like a new machine. Merry Christmas ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for the Twelve Days of Christmas! With no local quilt shops, I look forward to seeing all the new tools that are available. I so enjoy working on wool projects and was lucky enough to take a class from you a year ago. My other obsession is little quilts and the review that you give of the Juki makes this machine sound like it would be perfect for the projects that I sew. I’m also learning to free motion quilt and I see many nice reviews for FMQ with the Juki as well. I do have a birthday coming up soon in January…..very tempting!
