Block 21 Triangle Gatherings

TRIANGLE GATHERINGS BLOCKS HAVE BEEN REMOVED…BOOK COMING SOON!

I’m home from TX…my luggage/trunk show did not make it…until a couple hours later…crisis avoided…thank heavens!!!! A suit case full of your quilts and wool projects is something no one wants to lose…I had a tight connection in Dallas…where I switched airlines companies…so that’s where I think the luggage missed the plane…

So now I’m packing for NC…Amy and I leave tomorrow…I am so excited!!! Its going to be lots of fun and I can’t wait to spend a whole week living with 50 quilters!!! …I don’t think we will be able to fit one more thing in my truck as we are driving and trying to take lots of goodies for the ladies to buy…their 4 kits for the classes…door prizes and our personal sewing…so I hope it all goes well so maybe we can do it on an annual basis and may a couple a year…but the first one is always the scariest…

Anyone got any suggestions for places to stop between WI and NC? This is our route…so nothing way out of the way…

How about we give you another block!!! I have to finish my block 3 of blockheads(due next Wednesday)and my Summer Mystery Quilt day is March 24…so you know what that means….got to get that finished too!!!  Keep posting all those blocks are awesome!!!

If you would want to stop in and see us at M&E Quilt Shoppe, 279 E. Market Street in Sandusky Ohio we would be thrilled. We are located right between Toledo and Cleveland on your route. We’ve met you a couple times at Market and just love your patterns. If not we understand, wish we could join you in NC, have fun. Mabel & Ethel aka Debbie & Jackie.

You will be driving within a couple miles of my house in Germantown, MD. I will be in Ohio or would invite you for a stop! One suggestion I would make is to it avoid hitting 495 going through Virginia at rush hour tomorrow. It can be grueling and very frustrating particularly on a Friday afternoon/evening. Safe travels and have a wonderful retreat!

We like to stop at Peneras on the Ohio turnpike.
If you stop in Elizabeth City, NC I would love to take you out to eat. Be sure to eat at Duck donuts when you are at the outer banks. It has been cold down here but hopefully it will warm up next week.

The Christmas Story House is in Cleveland Ohio! If you stop make sure you go to the pub across the street. Had a good lunch there and lots of tid bites about the movie and the actors.

Middlebury and Shipshewana, IN have a number of great quilt shops close together. Pumpkin Vine, Lollies, Yoders, Cotton Corners to name a few Middlebury is on State road 13 and Shipshewana is on State Rd 5

Hi Lisa, you are heading right through Shipshewana Indiana. A wonderful experience with the Amish and several shops to stop and have fun. There is about a half a dozen top notch quilt shops to stop and shop. Let me know if you get a chance to shop. We never miss their quilt show and celebration in June. Karen Meyer cmu.1951@gmail.com

Couldn’t tell how close you will be but Hershey, Pa is a chocolate livers paradise!
My favorite place in the world besides NYC is Williamsburg, Va.

I am not sure how close you will be to Chadds Ford, PA, between Harrisburg and Washington, D.C. If not too far off the route, the Andrew Wyeth home and Wyeth museum and gallery are memorable. That’s a long road trip, be safe.

Stop to eye Wendy and Dick at The WhiteSwan in Hagerstown,MD or Carley at Web Fabrics in Purciville, VA or the Mennonite gal sin Dayton, Va or Linda in Staunton, Va. that’s just a few in my area.

Looks like you will be going right by my local quilt shop- Patches-in mount airy, MD. It is only about a mile off route 70 -route 27 is where you would get off 70- if you do stop, shoot me an email – I am in the midst of making Daurmont and have questions about it.

Going right past my house, stop and play with puppies is always an option for fun.

I love all the suggestions. Note – Chadds Ford PA is near Philadelphia, so not on your route, neither is Hershey PA. Those stops would be worth the time if you return with a slight detour. Then you could take in the Amish areas in Lancaster PA and all the wonderful shopping opportunities for fabrics etc. If you take Route # 1, just be aware of the CRAZY DC Metro traffic, where speed limits are merely political decisions; same goes for I-95 Southbound from DC thru Richmond. VERY heavy traffic areas. Personally, I would take Route # 2 avoiding several metro areas like Pittsburgh, DC, etc. Prettier drive too.

Hmmmm. If I was you I would figure out how to go through Fair Oaks Farm in Indiana. You don’t need to take time for the tour of the farm – just eating there is worth it.

Avoid the whole metro DC area if possible, esp. during comuter hours, which unfortunately is just about all day.
Other routes maybe longer and take a little more time but prettier and less stressful.
    Safe travels.

Do you think it would be foolish of me to start the 2017 Triangle Sew Along now? I love the blocks and love, love, love paper piecing, but wonder if I will be able to catch up. I need another project like I need another hole in my head, but I just don’t think I’ll be able to pass this one up. What do you all think? Are there any others out there just starting?

    1. lisabongean Avatar

      they are pretty easy….

Well, I loaded up on supplies from your store and I’m prepping so I think this is going to be my reward for being retired. I still have friends who work so this will be my present to me. I love these cute little blocks and I love paper piecing so here I come! You are just soooo talented and I love all the blocks I’ve seen. Everyone is so inspiring – I can’t wait to get started.

Me! You can stop and see me as you drive through the Pittsburgh area! Of course there wouldn’t be anything left in your truck for the retreat ladies to buy… I’d want it all! Have a great retreat and safe trip!

Shipshewana, Indiana. Just south of the turnpike. Lots of antique and Amish shops. Home of Yoder’s and Lolly’s. Both stock a lot of your fabrics. I travel to Wisconsin from Ohio to see my daughter and always stop. Good Amish food too. Safe travels.

Try The Hen House Quilt shop in Charlotte Mi. Take 69 north, it’s about 45 minutes north of 94. It’s nice little shop. Everything from Primitive to modern, plus wool, batiks, homespun, flannels.

The Stone Manor Country Club is a Bed and Breakfast that would be a very relaxing place to stay on your way home. Located just off your route in Middletown, MD. Website under the Manors of Frederick.
