Just want to do a quick post and tutorial on this adorable quilt…and how to transfer a word you wish to stitch on to a dark fabric…and any of the underlined content here are links to bring you on where you can find out more info and prices…
On the Farm….is a quilt with an option for wool or flannel appliqués… You can buy it as a FULL KIT or we are running as a Block of the Month.
But I’d love to show you how easy it was to stitch these words…
The names of the animals are on black flannel…and it sometimes is hard to see the letters through the light box…so what do we do then?
Trace the words on the top non-tacky side of the Press n Seal…this its what it looks like…
use a permanent fine marker
Cut them out and center the word on the fabric and press it securely in place.
I stitched the little ends of the letters first…
Once the ends are finished…then stitch the long lines…
Once it is all stitched…use this tweezer because it is super sharp and has a nice contact at the point for picking and grabbing. Trust me it matters…your eyebrow tweezer will not do a great job…
Now using your scissors cut between the letters
Then pull out the P &S in a sideways motion to pull it out from under the thread without pulling it up and pulling the threads…It will take a bit to get started but then when you get the hang of it is it much easier…
Now if your stem stitch does not look as nice as mine…you might want to get my just released book…after 20 years of teaching wool work and stitchery…I have put all the little secrets in here to make you the best stitcher possible!!!!
This book just shipped in the last week to all my pre-orders..(I thank you so much)…if you received it…I would love if you could take a minute and make an honest comment at the end of this post…then those of you who are on the fence…can read them and see if you have to have this in your library!!!! Here is a link to order the book. Wool, Needle & Thread Book
I will do another post soon about what’s inside the book soon! Thanks so much and I hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial…
Have a great weekend! LB
