I will be giving away a secret something (plus the caramels) I have from market for this post Jan 1st!
I am so grateful for my children and their loving support since their father died. He never got to meet his grandchildren but I am grateful to be a part of their lives.
My sister, Priscilla. She was an angel. Lost her almost 5 years ago to lupus. Her charity, Pris-Zippity helps those patients in dialysis with a warm custom sweatshirt to stay warm during treatment. Her goodness lives on!
my Irish girlfriend and quilter extraordinaire Mary…. through it all we have prevailed and are still
doing the same although patience is often a challenge not between us of course!
My granddaughter, Ellie, At 2 1/2, she has me absolutely smitten. Arenโt bath times the most fun?? Your mention of caramels, though, makes me think of another special person, my sister, Nancy. She loves them as much as I do. Merry Christmas!
Oh this is hard..I have so many special people in my life! Has to be my husband Bill..he has always been the calm in my life and loves me unconditionally and is also such a very sweet and gentle father!
My BFF Kelli. We met at my first job out of college. She was so friendly and helpful. We started doing craft nights at each otherโs houses. 30+ years later and now hundreds of miles apart, we are always in touch and never miss a beat when we get to see each other in person.
My son A.J. (Arthur Giles Potter IV) he is my heart and soul. We were married 1 month shy of 12 years when my favorite person in the world was born. When he was 6 yrs. old he gave me a reason to fight breast cancer and all itโs horrible lasting effects and setbacks. Heโs now 20 in his 3rd yr. of college with a major in mechanical engineering. Iโm so proud of him and the generous, caring, hardworking person heโs become.
Making cookies with little ones is special, as is making them with a special sister. My young freshly graduated granddaughter left a couple of weeks ago to work at Powder King, a ski resort on the other side of our country in BC. It is heart wrenching, but everyone of us applaud her trying out her wings, and wish her the very best experience. This will be the first Christmas we will not see her open her gifts and enjoy her stocking from Santa. Love her forever
Phyllis…I do have it in a kit for a smaller tree like 18โ the pattern is in Christmas Gathering book..I enlarged it…the kit for wool tree skirts are expensive so that is why I do not have one…but if you want to enlarge the pattern and order about 2 yds of wool you can!
My husband, Doug, is very special to me. We met when we were 12 & 15 years old and were best friends first & always! We celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in June!
My daughter, Bobbi, who recently suffered a series of strokes at age 38. She is my hero and shows me every day how strong she is, mentally and physically.
My mom, my role model and my quilting buddy. Now the roles are reversed. My siblings and I are her caregivers, trying to provide for her the love and support and security that she gave all of us for most of her life.
Sheryl F. She is my dad’s cousin but has been a great friend to me, especially in the last 4 weeks. Always available to talk and pray. Life has been very stressful due to recent rotator cuff surgery and the sudden death of the mom of my 16 and 17 yr old stepkids. Sheryl has been there for me.
Wow. Thanks Lisa. My husband and I actually visited Menasha in September to visit Primitive Gatherings and to buy some caramels. We brought back 2 lbs for a friend and 2 lbs for us. Still have some. My husband and I share the caramel from the wool box each time. Will there be candy in the Christmas box too? Am hoping it arrives before Christmas, feel like a kid again waiting for Santa. Thanks for making Christmas so special this year.
Just got your book โWool, Needle and Threadโ yesterday from a local quilt shop 12 days of Christmas promotion. Absolutely love it. Will be using it as a resource for sure.
Thank you so much for making this possible Lisa. Hope to see you again in a class soon.
My sweet is my husband Ron. He is so sweet to put up with my many many hours of stitching wool addiction.I would share the caramels with him if I could.
Merry Christmas!
This is not easy! There are so many people in my life who are special to me, including the obvious choice of my husband, who Iโm not going to name. My choice of all of them today, is my Uncle- Beryl Carney. I hope he knows how much heโs loved!
Thanks for asking this question- it made me stop and think about all of the wonderful people in my life at a time of year I often think of those that are no longer a part of it
My husband Raymond because he supports my quilting habit by letting me plan vacations around quilt stores, doesn’t mind that my quilting supplies have spread throughout the house and never asks how much I spend on qulting.
My Dad, WW โBobโ Roberts, is special too me…he is my hero. He is gone now but forever with me.
Love the glow bath lights…need to find them for my grandkids.
Thanks for the chance to win!
Lisa Bongeon, you are special to me. You are an inspiration and mentor from afar to so many. Although we donโt get together in person, you share so much with me without even knowing it! Question: is there a pattern/kit for the tree skirt under your Christmas tree? I have a an all angel tree that it would be perfect under. Wish I could share a picture of it. I put it up this year after 14 years of storage. Lots of ornaments given and made by my daughters when they were young is what makes it extra special. Thank you
My husband, Bob. I have had several surgeries in the last 18 months and he has been so wonderful to me. He did all the cooking, shopping, cleaning, and most of all, kept my spirits up.
Your photos of your house decorated are so beautiful! It must be so special for you to be able to say, โmaking cookies with my sisterโ. What a special treat after all these years for you to have a sister. Sisters are the best! I have been blessed with so many special people in my life/family but will name my sister CAROL as my special person in this note. Merry Christmas to you Lisa.
My maternal grandmother holds a very special place in my heart. I would visit my grandparents on their farm every summer and spent m as by hours with grandma in her kitchen, garden and at her sewing machine. Although she passed away while I was in college, she would see those lessons I learned by watching her were put to use. She was a quilter, too, and I would like to think she would be proud that I am a quilter too and have used the lessons I learned by watching her.
Leah and Benjamin are special to me! I adopted them as infants. I couldn’t ask for anything better than these two. They are now 10 and 7 and fill my days with activity – baking cookies, playing games, sports, and so on. Adoption – such a blessing.
My husband, Mike, who never complains about me buying more fabric or kits even though I havenโt finished the one Iโm working on! Iโm always thinking about my next project! ๐
My dear husband JIm … after 60 years of marriage he is now one of the angels that will be singing
โHark the Herald Angels Singโ to us on Christmas Eve.
My Grandchildren!! They are so very special and oh so much fun to be with. Each one brings a different kind of joy to our lives!! That the lord for giving us these precious ones
I love reading your blog Lisa… our grandson Nolan loves those glow in the dark bits for the bath too! (Weโre in Texas with him, his baby brother, and his mommy and daddy for Christmas.) I have many people who are special to me but today Iโm thankful for Nolan & baby Clydeโs mommy… my daughter Lindsey. She is kind and caring, and a great mom & wife. (I tell her frequently what a good mom she is.) Sheโs also become a wonderful friend as we have transitioned to an adult relationship. Lindsey is a wonderful quilter and I love sharing our passion for all things quilty. Iโm excited for Christmas morning as I have a lovely surprise for her.
A person most important to me is Lisa Bongean. She has invited me into her life – yes, we are related – and MY life has never been the same. Sheโs funny, smart, a great businesswoman and talented. I truly enjoy spending any time with her that I can because her confidence is infectious. She handles what life throws at her with grace and patience. Lisa is my sister (even though sheโs my cousin!) and Iโm so happy to have her in my life. Rock on sista!!!!!
My 82 year young dad, Ron!!!! Just found out he has lung cancer, never been sick a day in his life, and is taking this with an amazing attitude!!! โค๏ธโค๏ธ
My husband who for over 47 years has stood by my side and never let me down, he is my biggest cheerleader!!! Even though i may have bins and bins of fabric and wool he gets it when i get more, he may shake his head in disbelief but says nothing!!! Now what more could i ask for!
Vickie
I’m curious about the glow-thingies. I’m pretty sure my grandson would love them too! Any chance you could let me know where to find them? I’m looking forward to my box of caramels to arrive — one of my favorite candies! I even ordered a box for my cousin!!! Fabulous Day 3!
Shirley M is a VERY special person to me. She has been there for me through thick and thin. We are 16 years apart, but it doesn’t feel like it. We are like sisters and I love her! โฅ
Today I sent a special at the movies with my wonderful husband Stephen, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. When we started dating we went to the movies all the time and it has great memories, so on our special day we still go to the movies and then out to dinner.
Rosella Nawman
Daughter by marriage, so loving and considerate to help me in every way possible. Always puts my needs before her own, while holding down a stressful job in the medical profession. She is definitely one of God’s angels.
My mom, who is battling Stage 4 gallbladder and liver cancer is pretty special to me and my new grandson, Austin just came into our lives. Thank you Lisa for all that you do for all of us!
My Father, who will be 85 next month, does every single thing for my mom, who is suffering from Alzheimerโs terrible, I honestly believe that there are Angels among us, because he is her Angelโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
My mother living with us now due to medical issues- A
My husband for patience, taking care of us all for the long term- B
My youngest who from college is encouraging and helping from afar- K
Very grateful for these!
There are so many, how can I name them all? For now I will say my faithful friend, Paulette, who has been my friend for 42 years & was my maid of honor 41 years ago. Although we live far apart, when we see each other it’s like we’ve never been apart!
My mama Eileen taught me to sew as a child and renewed my interest later in life with her quilting. Christmas was a special time for her, and she outdid herself to make it special for us. I am still getting used to Christmas without her, our fourth year now. She considered her Primitive Garden quilt (all cotton appliquรฉ and piecing) to be her finest work. It hangs in my foyer now. Hey, and how about that window seat cushion of yours?! It is gorgeous!
My sister Dawn K is sooo special to me! Her husband has just left her after giving her a concussion, and he is hiding so much from her, and has left her in a very bad state of mind. Such a wonderful Christmas gift he has given her!! Not!! She is a good, kind, giving person, one who is always interested in new people that she meets: she asks them questions about their background and about themselves, and makes them feel important. I love my sister dearly, and feel so bad for her and the situation she is in right now. She has given her life to raising their 6 children, and this is the way he thanks her. My heart breaks for her.
Jace is still so cute in his elf hat and slippers. Iโm so happy that he is still enjoying them this holiday! Thanks for sharing the picture! Wishing you and your family all the best parts of the season. Sharyn
