Soft Spot Book!

Hey…I know I am not the only one who has a “soft spot” for pillows… I can’t tell you how many I have or have made in the last couple of years…they are soooooo fun, addictive and give your home just that special look without a lot of effort.  And can i just mention that pillows make the best gifts!  Especially when you need something quick.  I have the perfect book for you….Mother Martingale has come up with another great book to help guide you in your pillow making!!!!

There are so many cool projects in this book…17 to be in fact!   Here are a couple of my favorites from the book….I’m trying not to show you ALL of them…I am leaving 12 as a surprise!

Here is my project in the book…if you have any leftovers from American Quilter’s SAL you can make this…

Are you a pillow maker?  Leave me a comment and you can win my fabrics to make a pillow….and hop on over to my IG account for a chance to win a copy of the book as well.

And before I forget…see this tutorial on how to put in a zipper so you can use the same pillow form for your pillows.

Lately I’ve been making coordinating pillows to go with finished baby quilts. They make a nice addition to the nursery decor and are fun to make.

I love pillows so much, esp. quilted ones!! My favorite one is made out of my mom’s old denim shirt that she worked in outside. I miss her every day💕

I used leftover hexagons to make a pillow to match my 4th of July table topper. I love the stripes in the dresdan plate blades. It is a great challenge for me to use that idea and keep even seams.

I love pillows. I think I am intimidated by the zipper. But I will challenge myself to complete a pillow.

For those who don’t like to do zippers, try using an old button-front shirt for the cushion back. The strip with the buttons/buttonholes goes across the back in place of a zipper. All you have to do is unbutton it to insert the pillow form. Works great and so cute!

My Mom made pillows trying different quilt blocks as she didn’t start quilting til she retired. She said she probably didn’t have enough time to make a bunch of quilts with all the other activities she did but pillows gave her a chance to try different quilt blocks & decorate too. I now have some of those pillows so I have her still with me plus my grandma as feed sack material is used in a few.
