12 Days of Christmas-Day 1

Well everyone, it’s finally here! Day one – the last of 12 days celebrating my most favorite things! Today we’re giving some much deserved attention to one of the most important aspects of what we do – sewing machines!

I want to start off by talking a little bit about Bernina. As much as I love my Juki, if I had to pick a machine that encompasses everything we need, I would have to go with a Bernina. Smooth and effortless, these efficient machines come with a wide range of world-class features designed to help you be creative, all while saving time. I really have come to appreciate these beautiful machines, and I’m proud to say we are a brand new Bernina dealership here at Primitive gatherings! To celebrate, now through January 2nd, 2022, if you purchase a Bernina Machine from Primitive Gatherings, we will throw in FREE *lifetime machine inspections, cleanings, and oil changes (*up to 4 times per year)!

Please come in, email bernina@primitivegatherings.us or call us at 920-841-1066 to set up an appointment. Come experience our full line of what Bernina has to offer! I am excited to say that I am going to be getting another new Bernina for myself after seeing how wonderful these new machines have become! I will be sure to show you my new set up on future videos as soon as I can.

Most of you know that my most preferred machine is the Juki TL2010. Iv’e used the TL2010 machine for what feels like forever – it’s definitely what I consider my, “work-horse”. Without this awesome machine I would not be half the quilter I am today. Here’s why!

Juki is by no means new to the market. They are well known in the garment industry and are mostly industrial machines. Juki made their debut in the quilting world with a semi-industrial machine for designed just for quilters. I think I’ve had a Juki for about 10 years now. I also own two Berninas – The 1260 and 1530, and a couple of Featherweights (I only admit this to you so that you know what I’m basing my opinions on). Not only that, I teach all across the country and have stitched on many different kinds of machines.

I bought the Juki with the intention to use it as a second machine, specifically for machine quilting my little quilts. Having it also meant I didn’t have to change the walking foot from my regular foot on my Bernina – which is a huge time saver. They come with a few different feet, including two free motion feet and a walking foot. I like using the regular foot to stitch up against a bumper so I can get a scant quarter inch.

I especially love that Juki machines are all metal including the bobbins and feet. The TL2010 features a larger 9″ opening between the body and the arm, so machine quilting is easier to handle. It also has an extension table, which is especially nice for retreats. I usually have mine embedded in my table.

This machine ONLY stitches straight. Now, this might be an issue for some, but my only intention for this machine was machine quilting. The fact that it only stitches straight is actually a plus…nice tension at all times and a single hole throat plate. It holds large cones as well as regular thread. It also has an automatic thread cutter, automatic needle threader, knee lift, and stitches 1500 stitches per minute (or something like that). In other words, it is FAST!!!

It has some really great advanced features, such as an industrial sub-tension system, variable speed control slider, and bright white LED lighting. It’s definitely built for precision sewing. With a large work area of up to 23 inches (with auxiliary table attached), the TL-2010 can handle large quilt, sewing or home decor project with ease. It also allows you to trim top and bobbin threads using the exclusive foot controlled trimming system. Just rock your heel back on the foot control, and the thread is quickly and precisely cut. The machine is equipped with an automatic thread button that simultaneously trims the needle and bobbin threads at the sewing end by lightly pressing the push-button. It also keeps the thread from quivering when sewing at high speeds and provides accurate fine tuned thread tension. Pretty cool! For a full list of factory specs please visit juki.com!

Because the Juki is one of my VERY most favorite things, we’re offering it as our Day 1 – FINAL day of my 12 Days of Favorite things special. Now through January 2nd you can get a Juki TL2010 for yourself for only $999.00!  Click link below to get yours now!

Want even better news? In the true spirit of Christmas, it’s time to GIVE AWAY another Juki! Buy purchasing your Juki between now and January 2nd, 2022 you’ll earn yourself a chance to WIN your Juki for FREE! You read that right, one lucky customer will have their Juki paid for by us as a way to say thank you for the purchase.

Well everyone, I just want to say thank you for following along these last 12 days as I explored some of my most favorite things that I can’t do without! 1. My favorite thing is the American Quilters shirt. It will go with the quilt and cross stitch I finished, and its Harley riding ready in black!

  2. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for all your tips. I have to explore using the Bernina I have already but your Juki sounds amazing.

  3. I think mine would be a Juki. Even though I am a Pfaff girl I would love to try to Juki. Also love the new fabric line you have coming out.

  4. I discovered the importance of friends. I am experiencing a health issue. Family is over 100 miles so my friends have been there for me driving me to dr appts, grocery shopping, mailing packages etc. They have been my saving grace.

  5. Thank you for all 12 Days and Merry Christmas to all. I especially enjoyed (and have placed orders) on most of the days, but looking forward to my H4h tshirt, my subscription to the new Quilt Boxes, the Garden Gatherings sew along, and I plan on submitting a red and white quilt to hang next year! Phew! That’s a lot but can’t wait! Happy New Year!

  6. I got my Juki from your shop in 2016, I think it was, and I use it all of the time. But I also have a Bernina embroidery module I use occasionally, and a really old Bernina, 1260, love it, too. So you can’t go wrong with either.
My favorite thing you’ve posted is the subscription box, for quilting. I would be elated to win that for sure, but since in all likelihood I won’t, it is by far the most tempting favorite thing this year. Because I have a Juki already!

  7. I loved starting everyday with your YouTube over the last 12 days. I was able to get many of your favorite things and I’m sure they will become my favorite things, too. You and your team are the best. Merry Christmas to you all.

  8. I discovered how much I like red and green quilts. I plan on starting one as soon as I find nice weight white yardage.

  9. Well, I’ve been shopping your 12 Days of Christmas for a long time now. I use all your favorite things. I do need your scissors. I put them on my list.

  10. If I wasn’t in the process of buying a new home (looking in the Appleton area!!!) that Juki would have already been ordered! I am so excited to challenge myself by creating a red and white quilt!

  11. I enjoyed when you talked about notions. Need to purchase from you!
I live in the Northwoods of WI and cannot wait to visit your store!

  12. Merry Christmas to Primitive Gatherings, you really made my year merry and bright. My favorite of the twelve days was announcement of the Red and White Challenge. $10 entry fee plus, we get red and white wool!

  13. Both these machines would be a great addition to any sewing room. Thank you for your great 12 days of Christmas. May your family have a very blessed Christmas and a blessed 2022.

  14. Love so many of your things this year but the quilt box is really exciting!… or is the red and white quilt challenge the best? …or the triangle papers which I need so much….. or the miniature book… seems like if it’s got a primitive gatherings flavor, I love it!

  15. Every video was fun to anticipate and watch. I love the new sweatshirts and t-shirts. I have two Berninas but would still like a Juki, if I had the space. The red and white quilt challenge is a great idea. Thanks for everything you do and Merry Christmas.

    1. Each and every day of the 12 days was fun and inspirational. I look forward to it always. Merry Christmas!

  16. I’ve so enjoyed your 12 Days of Christmas again this year. I would like to own your scissors and your Little Gatherings book. Thanks for all you do! Merry Christmas!

  17. My most favorite thing that you’ve mentioned in the last 12 days was the Quilt Box! That one lasts ALL YEAR LONG. “Happy mail” is awesome to receive…and I look forward to that box coming each time. When I saw it, I did not even hesitate a second to sign up…I just did it. I’ve enjoyed reading all your posts these past few weeks–thank you! Merry Christmas!

  18. I’m inspired by your miniature book and the red and white challenge. The wool box keeps me inspired too! Stay well and happy holidays to everyone. Take time for yourselves.

  19. Thanks so much Lisa for all the effort you and your team put in to making you one of the best quilt shops I’ve ever seen!! My favorite thing was your long arm quilting special. Happy Holidays to all of you too!!

  20. I have been doing wool applique for about 8-9 years because I love it and partly because it’s very frustrating using my Sears Kenmore that I received as a high school graduation present, I won’t tell you how many years that has been…would love to have a great machine to build my confidence with piecing – so many quilts I want to make on a machine especially designed with quilters in mind. Merry Christmas Lisa, Nick, and your entire family and PG family.

  21. I would like to start doing wool applique. You have so many neat things to start learning how to do that. Merry Christmas!

  22. You’re very correct about Jukis. I have 5 machines, all different brands, but the Juki is the one I use almost all of the time. A suggestion-look into a 1/4 ” compensation foot. Like a miracle for applying bindings.

  23. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I have really enjoyed the 12 days of Christmas. I am thinking about joining the red and white challenge. Have been looking thru patterns. I have an older Bernina but the Juki sounds wonderful.

  24. Merry Christmas !! I love my Juki 2010 that I won from you several years ago. It’s a workhorse! I don’t know how I ever lived without it. It sews through anything like butter. Such a great deal and same price as several years ago. !!! Don’t leave home without one!!

  25. I was excited to see the wool mats on sale. I just got notice that the huge one I ordered is waiting for me on my front porch. Merry Christmas! Thanks for all you do to keep us stitching!

  26. Love to own your new scissors, and they are on my list. I’m a huge fan of red & white quilts, so I’m thrilled that you are doing a red & white challenge. Looking forward to lots of sewing in 2022! Oh yes, the Juki sounds amazing!

  27. I love your 12 Days every year. I’ve already registered for your Red & White event next year. I just need to figure out what to make 😀

Merry Christmas and Have a Blessed New Year !!

  28. Ordered your wool applique book even though I have done numerous projects but wanted to have you various stitch instructions. Also ordered neat and bond featherlite. I was not aware of this product until you talked about it. Love you 12 days every year.

  29. Thank you for hosting the 12 days of Christmas. I ordered a few things, layer cakes and mini quilt book. Merry Christmas

  30. My Favorite was EVERYTHING! Love precuts, love me some red and white quilts, and I am looking forward to getting my new book! Merrty Christmas!!

  31. I always enjoy your 12 Days of Christmas and this year I’m anticipating the new fabric box. My new item to try is a package of your Chenille needles size 22 with the larger eye for the cross stitch project I’m beginning. The red and white challenge is on my list. I made one as a wedding gift 6 years ago and now, a new one has been added to my project list. Thank you, Lisa!! Merry Christmas to you and the staff of Primitive Gatherings.

  32. Hard to choose my favorite thing, but I love notions and will be ordering a couple things soon. I have never sewed on a Juki, but now I want to to try one out! Your 12 days of Christmas is a Quilter’s dream! I already signed up for the challenge and called to reserve a spot at the retreat Center with 3 friends! Merry Christmas!

  33. I love everything! I am inspired to make a flannel and red and white quilt this winter. I wish I could afford to buy my daughter one of your Juki sewing machines for Christmas, maybe next year. I think she needs a Juki they sound amazing. I will order her one from you when I am able. Merry Christmas!

  34. I’ve enjoyed your 12 days of Christmas, I plan in joining the red and white challenge be finishing and entering the kit I bought, 50 and life to go.

  35. My favorite thing is my Juki. I received it last year for Christmas. Anyone that is thinking about purchasing a Juki, do it. You will not be disappointed. This year’s favorite thing is the quilt box. I am also looking forward to seeing all the red and white quilts.

  36. Besides learning more about the awesome Juki and how it would be such a great addition to my sewing team, I really like your tees and hats! They would all make great gifts to give and receive!

  37. “A Merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” When I see this verse from proverbs I think of all of my quilting friends, people from all of this country and the world. We are inspired by you, by Moda friends, by new and old quilters, past quilters and young newbies!! We are thankful for generous quilters who care about “Hogs” for our wonderful veterans and for tornado victims that have lost everything, for little babies in NICUs and on and on. Thank you Lisa for your Merry heart.

  38. My favorite item is the Juki! I have been looking at them but not sure which model to purchase. What feet does this machine come with???? I can’t see where it says in the description.

  39. Love my Juki!! I’ve had mine for several years and learned about them from you!
Thanks for all you do. A Merry Christmas to you and your family and staff!

  40. I always love this part of the Christmas season…your 12 Days Of Christmas!!! My favorite this year was Day 11 and the Garden Gatherings Quilt Along announcement! Love the fabrics and that pattern. Thank you Lisa for all that you do for your customers. Merry Christmas Lisa and Nick, and all your staff at Primitive Gatherings that work so hard to make this all a huge success!!

  41. Merry Christmas, Lisa:) I always look forward to your 12 Days posts. EVERYTIME I am inspired to start a new project. Threes of us are doing the sew-along together and I’m going to submit a red and white quilt! You have an amazing creative process and I’m grateful you so willingly share:) Hope 2022 is your best year ever. We have been discussing a trip to the new store/Gatherings. Hope it will be soon:)

  42. Thank you for sharing so much info in your 12-day videos. I definitely want to get the mini book and am inspired to try the red and white quilt challenge.

  43. Really enjoyed your 12 Days of Christmas! So many inspiring things-products and ideas that you shared. Love the Red and White Challenge and the Quilt Subscription box. Thank you so much for all you and the PG team do for quilters every day!!!

  44. I’m always so inspired by your 12 days of Christmas. Each day was a real treat, so much so that I decided to treat myself and take the Juki plunge this year! I’d rather purchase from you than my local dealer or Amazon. Thanks to you and your staff for all the beautiful projects, products and terrific customer service. I love Primitive Gatherings. Wishing you continued success in 2022!!

  45. Always enjoy this time of year learning about your favorite things – still have the Juki on my list to own some day – thanks again for sharing and happy holidays!

  46. I always enjoy your 12 days of Christmas. Your generosity always amazes me. My favorite thing is definitely Val’s QAL because she is so awesome. I also love the pre-cuts, the red & white challenge & the wool notions since I really got into wool this year with your wool boxes after I finally finished my Liberty Gatherings last year & decided I needed to add regular stitching to my life.

  47. I purchased my Juki last December from Primitive Gatherings after thinking about it for 3-4 years. My only regret is that I waited so long to by it! It is an amazing machine and you will not be disappointed if you get one. I am very excited about the new Quilting Subscription box! Thank you, Lisa, for all that you do!

  48. I totally agree with you on both the Juki (I have a TL-98) and the Bernina (I have a 570-QE)…the Juki is about 17 years old and I’ve never had a problem with it…but how can one not love a Bernina? They are dream machines with capabilities way beyond what I will ever use. So, if one can afford the luxury, I would recommend both just as you have. Once you’ve owned a Bernina, you will never change! (Of course, they last forever, so you won’t need to!) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  49. I have a Bernina and love it! My favorite thing from your 12 days of Christmas is your new quilt subscription box. That will be fun. Thank you for all the great offers!

  50. So many things have been added to my want list after these 12 days! Time to go shopping! Thanks for sharing your favorite things with all of us!

  51. I’ve been part of the Woolbox since day one. So of course I’ve already signed up for the quilters box! Can’t wait to see what you have come up with. Happy New Year! Lori

  52. Well darn – it looks like I bought my new machine a couple weeks too early! What an incredible deal to get cleaning thrown in! I’ve enjoyed all of the days, and have placed a few orders (and received the ones with in-stock merchandise really quickly)! I own quite a few of the items. My favorite, especially after spending time at The Gathering, is the Rowenta Steam Station. I need to invest in one of those! A very close second is the bonus gift certificate for stats at The Gathering – I can’t wait to come back!

  53. I waited till the end to place my orders. I am very excited to get garden gatherings and will be doing the SAL. Thank you for offering this. I don’t have all of these items but I do have the majority. I am going to be ordering more heat and bond featherlite. I have so many of your wool kits. I need to get them done. I also want to get some quilt tops quilted by Luke. His work is beautiful.
