Heartfelt Charity Quilt and Quilt-Along

Heartfelt Logo HeaderDo you enjoy stitching for a good cause? If so, I have just the event for you! A couple of weeks ago I talked about a Quilt-Along that I recently joined called, Heartfelt.” This awesome project is a Make-A-Wish Foundation of America fundraising quilt, sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop. I decided I wanted to participate in this fundraiser because I love helping kids, and Make-A-Wish is a wonderful organization for kids. This stellar group of people has been making wishes come true for children with life-threatening conditions and their families for over 40 years. Granted wishes give the kids and their loved ones much-needed joy, strength, and most importantly hope. Make-A-Wish has collectively granted more than 520,000 wishes around the world since it was founded in 1980. How awesome is that?! Let’s help them make it to a million!

Heartfeltis a heart-themed quilt made up of six stunning sampler blocks, each featuring pieced hearts. It was designed by Corey Yoder based on her new Moda fabric line, Beautiful Day.” I decided to stick with the heart theme and do my quilt with all Valentine’s Day fabrics that I had left over from earlier this winter. I also decided to do my blocks half the size of what’s featured on the pattern (in other words I did 6″ blocks rather than the 12″ version that the pattern shows).Red, white, and pink Heartfelt Blocks 1-3

If you follow the pattern, Heartfelt” measures 76.5″ x 84.5″ when finished. I’m right on track with this project and have the released blocks  1 through 3 complete. I really love the way the Valentine’s Day fabrics are coming together on this one.

This quilt is turning out to be really cute – I’m not going to want to let it go! I’ll have to have to figure out a way though, because once I get done with my version of this little beauty, I will be auctioning it off to help raise even more money for Make-A-Wish Foundation!

I will be sad to give it up, but it really warms my heart knowing it is helping to contribute toward such a great cause. I guess I’ll just have to make another one to keep for myself! If you’d like to make my version of Heartfelt, you can find the Valentine’s Day fabric you’ll need for it on our website!

Heartfelt is currently a free Quilt-Along and download on the Fat Quarter Shop website. Blocks are released one at a time, and will be posted to Fat Quarter Shop’s blog, The Jolly Jabber on the first Friday of each month, through September, 2022. They do not require it, but highly encourage that a $5.00 donation be made for the pattern if you’re able to do so. Proceeds go to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. If you’d rather make a donation directly to Make-A-Wish, follow the link below!

I will continue to post my progress here on my blog as I make my way through Heartfelt.” I sure hope you found some inspiration to join this Quilt-Along with a cause. There’s something extra special about giving back using your own hard work and talents. I love having the opportunity to use mine to help kids facing adversity in their lives. Want to get in on the fun ? Come join me in this awesome Quilt-A-Long! Remember, Make-A-Wish Foundation relies on donations to make wishes come true and they can’t do it without our help! Corey did such a great job with the design of Heartfelt.” I always love her style. Speaking of Corey Yoder, you might have seen her on Stitch with Lisa Bongean Thursday as my special guest! She joined us via Zoom call to talk about a couple of her Moda fabric lines, including her latest arrival, Beautiful Day.” She showed off a few of her quilts done with Beautiful Day, To celebrate my fellow Moda sister’s wonderful eye for design, now through Sunday April 3rd, 2022 you can take 20% OFF of all pre-cut fabric and kits in her Cozy Up line, and 15% OFF of any other Corey Yoder pattern or pre-cut fabric. WOW right!? But I’m not done yet! As an additional BONUS, you’ll receive a FREE Coery Yoder pattern with any purchase of Corey’s patterns or fabric. Pretty good deal if I do say so myself!
