Can you believe Easter is this Sunday? Even though we’ve been talking about it and I knew it was coming up fast, it still somehow took me totally by surprise. Where does the time go? The last time we talked about Easter was back in March when it still felt like I had plenty of time to think about it. If I recall correctly, I was still in FL with my grandson Jace, enjoying Disney and the beach. Sunny blue skies and warm weather seem a world away at this point, especially after a nasty hail storm Tuesday and more snow in the forecast for tomorrow. As Nick and I walked out to retrieve the retreat house patio furniture from the garden Tuesday night, I reminded myself of how much I enjoy the variety and adventure of having four seasons – and that this too shall pass. In the meantime, the ugly weather is giving me the on-going perfect excuse to stay inside and stitch!
I couldn’t let this meaningful holiday pass us by without celebrating with you all somehow, so Jess and I came up with a fun little Easter game that we’re calling, Primitive Gatherings “EGG-Stravaganza!” Let me explain how it works! Now through April 17th, 2022 (April 16th for retail store purchases – we are closed Easter Sunday), with a $40.00 or more purchase (before tax and shipping) eligible customers customers can “Pick an Egg” from our lucky egg prize bin! Inside each egg is one of a variety of prizes that are sure to be a welcomed addition to your Easter basket this year. Prize possibilities include but are not limited to: a discount on your purchase that day, wool or fabric charms, Primitive Gatherings gift certificates, and more! There is a chance for 2 lucky winners (one from the Shop and one from Online) to receive 50% off their purchase!!!! Check out the official details below…
What are your plans for Easter Sunday? Will you be going out for brunch or cooking a big dinner at home? I love cooking for my family and have made many wonderful Easter dinners over the years. I do like to switch it up every once in a while though, so this year we decided to let someone else do all the work. Nick and I have a favorite spot that we love to go for country-style chicken dinner called Van Able’s. In fact, I want to give a little shout out to them for having what I consider hands-down, the best broasted chicken dinner in Wisconsin – and that’s saying a lot! This nostalgic supper club is known for miles around for their extensive menu and excellent service – not to mention they make my most favorite creamed green beans on the planet, “Bernice’s Beans”… Oof! I can’t wait. Just set the whole bowl in front of me… I should probably start fasting now to make room for it all!
Despite a busy holiday weekend coming up, I hope you find time to get some stitching in. I know I’ll be sneaking away to my sewing room any chance I get! If you’re looking for something fun to watch while you work, tune in today for my latest trunk show on “Stitch with Lisa Bongean“ at 1PM CST! I’ll be taking a detailed look at each quilt in my brand new “Garden Gatherings“ collection, as well as revisiting some pattern designs from one of my previous but similar lines, “Flower Garden Gatherings.” If you’re hunting for a spring project to tackle or just love these fabrics, make sure to watch for some fun and fresh ideas by clicking the link below!Want a chance to win a prize? Leave me a comment below! Tell me what your favorite Easter treats are. What are your plans for the big day? We love to give away prizes to show our loyal fans and customers how much we appreciate them. I’d like to say congratulations to Kelly C. and Leann B. – you are our lucky blog prize winners this week!ย As always, I don’t want to post last names or email addresses for your privacy, so if you think you’re one of these lucky winners please check your email! Your Easter dinner sounds absolutely scrumptious! Enjoy and a blessed Easter to you and your family and employees! Iโll be home stitching away. Hopefully the sun will be shining!
Am I the first comment? Favorite Easter tradition, going to Green Street ( shout out) restaurant in Pasadena, California with family. One of my sons ran around the outdoor planter until we were seated.

Mom just had shoulder replacement surgery and Iโm her for 2 weeks helping out. Brought some wool stitching that I hope I get to. Easter will be very different for me without my own family around but we will worship with church on TV and chocolate. Happy Easter!!
My favorite Easter treat is bunny cake made with two round cake pans. One circle is cut for ears and a bow tie, the other circle is bunnyโs head. My family looks forward to bunny cake all year! This year Iโll be hosting 16 family members to enjoy lunch after churchโbrisket and beans and potato salad.
Easter activities include church, egg hunt, chocolate and stitching. After a stay at The Gathering with the shop next door there is lots more stitching to do.
Happy Easter! I am celebrating by cooking dinner for 14 friends and family members. My favorite Easter treat is chowmein noodle nests!! Love the way they look and taste! Itโs spring in my mouth!!
With family close by and 5 young grandkids. We always have fun. Church first and then we get together. The adults and the kids hunt for eggs/prizes-separate hunts of course. We enjoy a great meal and time together.
Our plans for Easter are to attend the breakfast at our church before the morning service. Then we will have our kids come over for lunch. In the evening we will get together with extended family for a time of food and fellowship.
Cadbury Cream eggs are my favorite Easter treat.Actually anything chocolate! Easter Sunday we’ll go to church & enjoy spending time with several old & new friends. Probably will work on my wool box blocks after lunch. Can’t wait to start the Tomato pincushion quilt that’s on it’s way!! Happy Easter everyone!
My fav Easter treat was always the peeps. As I got older I only wanted one. But still my fav. I will be spending easter alone since my fam lives far away & I can’t afford to drive to them. I will be quilting & will have baseball on too. He has Risen!!!
My favorite Easter candy are the malted milk eggs that have the pastel colors coating. It doesnโt matter that Iโm in my 50โs. I still use those eggs to get pink, yellow, blue, green or white lipstick!
I love Easter, and my favorite part is watching my young grandchildren hunt for their Easter eggs and baskets. Seeing the excitement on their little faces makes it a special day for me!
We were going to go out for Easter brunch but, this was vetoed by my 34 y.o. son. “going out is not tradition”. “not having ham, mashed pototes and green bean casserole on grandma’s plates is not tradition”. I guess i was informed LOL and to be truthful, tradition is good and i’m ok with this. So, Happy Easter to everyone! Spring will be here soon,……….I hope!
My favorite Easter treat is Hershey’s Eggs (hard shell with a chocolate center) – have already blown through 4 bags and Easter isn’t even here yet! Sunrise service at 6:40 a.m. with a brunch to follow, church service at 9 and then home for a quiet day. Kids will be with their in-law families. Hope you have a very Happy Blessed Easter! HUGS… and stitches
Happy Easter! My favorite treats have to be the chocolate bunnies!! ๐ฐ ๐ฃ I havenโt made up Easter baskets for quite a few years now as my daughters have grown! Some day I will make baskets for grand kiddoes! (God willing!!) Blessings to you!!
My favorite Easter Treat, was the package of Carmel’s I ordered with my last order. They are delicious. I am having one a day! Oh and I hid them from my husband, or they would be all gone!!!
Happy Easter! My favorite Easter treats are Cadbury Eggs. After the Bunny leaves them, we put them in the freezer. They melt slower in your mouth so you can enjoy them longer. Yum!
Happy Easter! Hop!oing every one has a blessed day. I will be celebrating with my son and grand daughter on Sunday. Unfortunately my daughters couldnt make it this year which kind made me a little sad. My favorite Easter treat would have to be Cadbury Eggs. I look forward to them every year and really crave them at Christmas for some reason lol.
I love jelly beans and of course chocolate. I will be cooking lasagna and all the extras. 2 out of 3 daughters will be here with their families .
Enjoy your dinner and Happy Easter to you and your family.
My favorite thing is chocolate of course and it has to be dark chocolate Cadbury mini eggs. I have been known to buy 13 bags each year before that Cadbury bunny is gone.
We are eating at our daughters brand new first home. She is so excited to host. She has 4 parents that all get along wonderfully and makes the holidays super easy.
We start with an Easter egg hunt. Then the Grandchildren get Easter baskets filled with goodies. Then we will sit down for dinner of ham, scalloped potatoes, pineapple jello, asparagus, salad and homemade Easter bread! And finally desert. Hopefully fun will be had by all. Happy Easter to everyone. Hope you have a blessed day
First I’d like to Thank you for everything you do for all of us and wish you a Happy Easter! We are having our Easter today with my daughter, son-in-law and Grandchildren because they will be going back home tomorrow ๐. I don’t have a favorite treat just love to spend time with my family!
We are changing it up a bit this year & staying in AZ for Easter, favorite part is missing out on a mega storm blizzard that is going on in ND right now!
Happy Easter to you, your family, and all the wonderful folks at Primitive Gatherings! Hands down my favorite treat for Easter is Cadbury Creme Eggs. OMG! So delicious! I usually buy enough to last until around July 4th! Hahaha!
Happy Easter ! My favorite treat is cadbury mini eggs! Not doing much except for church on sunday and look forward being in wisconsin next weekend for a medical conference in Appleton and coming to the !!!!
Happy Easter! My favorite treat is cadbury mini eggs Not doing much on sunday except for church looking forward to next weekend have a medical conference in Appleton and get to visit the shop yay!
I will be spending the day with at my aunt and uncle’s with lots of family around. My mom passed away on Easter and even though the date changes, I am thinking that this Easter will be pretty emotional for all of us.
My favorite Easter treat, Mom would always make deviled eggs for Easter dinner and she made delicious deviled eggs! It’s just hubby and me this year so no huge dinner but a nice quiet day.
The Cadbury mini eggs are my favorite. I won’t even buy them anymore as they seem to magically fall in my mouth!!! I hope your Easter is a blessed and restful day for you. You deserve it!!!
Hands down my favorite Easter treat is chocolate marshmallow eggs or bunnies! We will go to church and then gather for a family lunch. Our kids are flying in from Oregon and Florida, we live in Georgia. Looking forward to a great day!
I love jelly beans and Peeps! Also dark chocolate. We used to hide those marshmallow egg treats for the kids. Our book club is meeting on Easter, bonnets and all. Family dinner this weekend, including grand dogs.
One of our favorite Easter activities is the egg hunt that we do after we get home from church. We started doing this when our kids were little because they were always bored by Sunday afternoon. They had so much fun finding their eggs that they wanted us to do it over and over again. They didnโt care what was inside the eggs, they just had fun finding them. Now that we have grandkids, we take them outside a few weeks before Easter and plant jelly beans which magically grow into Easter eggs on Easter morning. They love it ๐.
When I was growing up, we always made a bunny cake. Now I enjoy putting out eggs for my grandson – this year they will have to be inside because of the weather. ๐
I am all for letting someone else do the cooking as I lost my ability to taste and smell with Covid last September. My favorite Easter treats are all the chocolate covered marshmallow chicks and peeps-too bad I can’t taste them this year!
Without a doubt my favorite Easter treat is a Reeseโs Easter egg! Yum! This year my son and daughter in law are cooking for us as we have been under the weather. Happy Easter everyone!
MN weather looks more like Christmas than Easter. My favorite Easter candy is a tie between springtime M&Mโs, Jelly Beans and Peeps donโt laugh. The pink bunnies are the best! ๐๐๐
This year my MIL celebrates her birthday on Easter. Only the second time in her 84 years. Lots of family will be celebrating! And an egg hunt for the little ones.
I am fortunate enough to be hosting family this year for Easter dinner. This is the first time since Covid that it will be all of us together. The group will include our kids, grandkids, my brothers and their families.
We all have fun with the Easter egg and basket hunt. My favorite Easter treat is a good chocolate egg.
My favorite Easter treat is starburst jelly beansโฆ yum
I am having my kids and grandkids for dinnerโฆ ham cheesy potatoes and asparagusโฆ trifle for dessert! One of the easiest meals to prepare:)
My favorite Easter treat is a solid white chocolate bunny… must be a solid one for some reason I don’t think the hollow ones taste the same! I tend to save until I can’t stand waiting any longer! Sending you GIANT hugs from Texas!
Happy Easter! I love doing an egg hunt with my DGD, she is such a little spark at 3 yo. ๐ Most of the family is traveling this year, so we are postponing our big meal until we can all be together next month.
My favorite Easter treat is Peeps but they need the packaging opened and to be a few months old, so theyโre hard. Iโm cooking for Easter, this year Iโm making antipasto, roast beef, string beans, mashed potatoes and chocolate mousse for dessert. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter, God bless.
Celebrating that the tomb is empty & the reason Jesus was willing to die on the cross is the best reason to celebrate Easter. Iโve made chocolate rabbit ears & little chick suckers for my give aways. Have a box of Peeps on top of the frig getting hard. Donโt like fresh Peeps. Have jellybean cotton candy to try. Still need to get a few items for the Hubbyโs treat. 1st church then home for dinner. Cold weather coming for Sunday so dinner plans may change.
I love Easter….but ND is in the middle of a 3 day blizzard…..most of our state is closed…..my favorite is the big family dinner that remains to be seen if we can have this year after going to church Easter AM
This Easter after church-love love the Hallelujah Chorus sung by our fabulous choir!! We will be doing a meal out also. Fri and Sat.I need to get some sewing done to take in a trip next week!! Always have to be stitching while I sit. Happy Easter!!!
My parents are both gone but my mother loved Easter. You always had to have a special Easter outfit for church. A big ham for dinner and for years we made the bunny cake that was covered with coconut. Miss them. Happy Easter all.
Easter blessing to you and yours Lisa! My favorite Easter treat is trying a new Easter bread. This year it was Chalka, which is Czech I think. It was like Challah, except with milk and butter and jam put in two of the braids. It was too good, I ate too much! This weekend will be church Friday and Sunday, then just relaxing. We have a new puppy so everything revolves around him at the momentโฆpotty training has commenced! In between I get to sew on some quilt projects, including Moda Blockheads.
Your plans sound awesome. We will be getting together with family after church. Love Easter such a time of rebirth and demonstrated unconditional love. tt
Happy Easter! What’s not to like about any of the Easter treats but my favorite is a big chocolate bunny. It last a couple of days depending on how much sewing I do-sew a little, nibble a little. I so enjoy Stitch With Lisa! I’m sure it takes a lot of prep time as well as filming and your efforts are appreciated by this stitcher.
Our family’s favorite Easter tradition is attending church and celebrating the risen Savior. Then, we gather for dinner at my house of ham, church potatoes and all the trimmings. My favorite is the potatoes! Love that casserole. Since I have a farm and if the weather is good, then we all go outside and have an Easter egg hunt for the grands and the ‘big kids (the parents). Such fun as I create clues which the person has to figure out to find their next egg and in turn, leads them to their big final prize. This year, the big kids are getting gas cards! Wonder if the Easter bunny will bring me one?? Happy Easter.
This year I’m going to fix some of my girls grandmothers sides, as they lost her this last year I thought it would be nice for them to still feel her with us this year, Pink salad and cauliflower
salad
My favorite Easter treat are the Robins Eggs candies. Then I make egg shaped sugar cookies and decorate them with different designs. This year we are celebrating Easter with a smaller group of family and maybe my sonsโ new girlfriend. (Fingers crossed ๐)
Happy Easter to you, your family and your wonderful team.๐ฐ๐ทโ๏ธ
My favorite treat is having the family here together. The grandkids are adults now. We don’t do egg hunts we do beer/wine hunts. They tell what beer or wine they like and I hide them all around the yard. They have a hoot looking for them. Then we have our traditional Easter dinner of ham, twice baked potato casserole, lemon fluff, vegies, rolls and apple pie. Have a wonderful Easter.
Taking a break from Easter preparations. Extended family starts s afternoon for the weekend, will need to find your supper club for a a night out! Happy Easter to all.
Our favorite tradition for Easter egg hunts with the grandchildren is to also hide a potato along with the eggs. The one who finds the potato gets a special prize which varies year to year. This has kept the ones who get older interested in the hunt.
Favorite Easter candy is anything chocolate. I scatter plastic eggs filled with candy and money for the grandkids to find. Of course, hidden in a really hard spot is the Prize Egg.
Hands down favorite Easter treat are Reeseโs peanut butter eggs. Perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter – better than traditional peanut butter cup. The supper club broasted chicken sounds amazing. Enjoy and Happy Easter!
The best Easter treat is definitely being with family, especially since the grandkids are all getting older and have their own interests. Blessings to everyone for a healthy, happy and joyous Easter.
My favorite Easter treat would be Dove chocolate egss and chocolate cover marshmallow eggs. For Easter we are going to visit my parents tomorrow for the day and then spend Sunday at home with our daughter. Plan to make a strawberry spinach salad on Sunday for us. Happy Easter!
My all time favorite Easter treat is the small all chocolate Cadbury eggs with the candy outside coating. I also cook for my family, we have 4 boys between us and so it usually means two meals due to different work schedules. One can only eat so much left over ham no matter how much you might like it! Happy Easter to you, your family and employees!
Looking forward to having family for supper. It will be the first time that I will not be going to church. I have a fractured shoulder. I can still chain piece on my Juki, but hand stitching is on hold. I hope you have a blessed Easter.
My daughter, son-in-law and our 2 grand kids will be coming to our house for Easter dinner. Having hot turkey sandwiches, parsley buttered potatoes, veggies and dip, fruit and cheesecake! If we can brave the cold we may try our hand at a round of golf too! Happy Easter Lisa๐ฃ
Joyfully on Easterโฆenjoying a helping of the most wonderful scalloped potatoes. Made only with unpeeled (scrubbed) thickly sliced potatoesโฆcovered with whipping cream and baked in a 325 degree. Can only wish Easter would come more often.
