It’s nice to be able to say that out of all the quilt-alongs that I’m involved with right now, I’m actually in the process of wrapping one up! The Fat Quarter Shop’s charity Quilt-Along, “Heartfelt” is quickly coming to fruition as the sixth and final block, “Precious“ releases today. If you haven’t heard of this amazing fundraising effort, let me tell you a little bit about it. “Heartfelt” is a darling heart-themed quilt-along designed to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, an awesome organization that has been making dreams come true for children with life-threatening conditions for over 40 years. I decided to participate in this fundraiser because if there’s anything I love just as much as our veterans, it’s kids. I really wanted to do something to help make a difference for children who face adversity in their lives on a daily basis. This quilt-along was the perfect way for me to combine my skills and hard work with my love for stitching, all while helping to make a difference in the life of a deserving kid… Plus if you haven’t noticed, it’s a super cute quilt. Win-win!
As I mentioned, “Heartfelt” is a heart-themed quilt made up of six stunning sampler blocks, each featuring pieced hearts. It was designed by Corey Yoder based on her new Moda fabric line, “Beautiful Day.” If you’ve been following along you know that for mine, I decided to stick with the heart theme and used all Valentine’s Day fabrics leftover from last winter.
Do you “love” this heartthrob of a quilt as much as I do? You’re in luck. You too can make my version of “Heartfelt!” The fabric you’ll need is available on our website by clicking the link below!I decided to do my blocks half the size of what’s featured on the pattern (in other words, I did 6″ blocks rather than the 12″ version that the pattern shows). If you follow the pattern, “Heartfelt” measures 76.5″ x 84.5″ when finished. It’s not a huge quilt, which makes it great to display for holiday décor. It would make a nice wall hanger or could easily drape a loveseat or couch. Adorable! Here it is just before I started its final assembly. I’ll be posting photos of the final product as soon as it’s quilted!
Being the recipient of a thoughtful valentine is one of the best feelings ever – especially one made by-hand with love! Wouldn’t this darling quilt make a perfect gift for your special someone next year? “Heartfelt“ is currently a free quilt-along and download on the Fat Quarter Shop website. Block instructions are currently posted on Fat Quarter Shop’s blog, “The Jolly Jabber” and will be through September, 2022. They do not require it, but highly encourage that a $5.00 donation be made for the pattern if you’re able to do so. Proceeds go to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. If you’d rather make a donation directly to Make-A-Wish, follow the link below!Well everyone, the holiday weekend is officially upon us. What are you all up to? No big plans here aside from laying low at Anchor Point with Nick, my family, and friends – there’s honestly no reason to go anywhere else! I have worked hard all my life for the comforts of my home, and now it’s time to enjoy it surrounded by the people I love. I’m looking forward to cooking out, lounging on the boat, and taking my Harley out for a spin. I might even be able to convince a couple of girls from PG to take the jet skis out with me… We shall see!
No matter what’s on your agenda for this holiday weekend, I wish you all a SAFE and happy 4th of July! Just a reminder we will be CLOSED Monday July 4th so everyone here at PG gets a chance to spend time with family and friends. We’ll be back open for regular business hours on Tuesday July 5th at 10AM CST. Also, because most of us in the studio will be on vacation next week there will be no LIVE YouTube broadcasts. This includes both Shop Talk with Shelley and Stitch with Lisa Bongean. We’ll be back with our regularly scheduled Shop Talk on Tuesday July 12th at 9:00AM CST. Set your timer now so you don’t forget! You can tune in by hitting the link below. I will see you in a week. Until then, take care and happy 4th of July! ~Lisa
