Who Doesn’t Love a FABRIC SALE!?

Hi friends! Happy Monday. I’m finally back in the studio after surviving my “stay-cation” last week – which turns out, I needed more than I realized. I’ll admit that the idea of taking another week off crossed my mind more than once, but it was only a fleeting daydream since there is much to do here at Primitive Gatherings. We were here bright and early this morning, working hard to get The Gathering ready for the arrival of our kid’s sewing camp students. The kids settled in and put their noses to the grindstone to make some super cute projects using their new stitching skills. Camp instructor Ms. Adrian did an excellent job, which was pretty obvious judging by all the smiles in the room. I would say our first PG Kid’s Camp was a total success! Students who signed up for the full course will be back tomorrow to finish up today’s masterpieces, and then start some new ones. I wish you could have all seen it – it was seriously the definition of adorable! We had such a good time that I’m thinking we might just do it again… Stay tuned to the blog for future Kid’s Sewing Camp dates!

I hope you all were able to get some rest over the weekend, or at least some stitching time in. It seems like there are a ton of different projects and quilt-alongs going on right now, so I feel like most everyone is super busy working on summer, and even fall projects. How are yours coming along? Are you going to have everything done in time for seasons to flip? Let me know in the comments – I love to hear about your progress! Considering everyone is so busy being creative, I thought now would be a great time to have a summer fabric sale. I mean, why not? Fall is going to be here before we know it, and we could use a little help making some space in the warehouse for new arrivals later this year. I figure we can help each other – you get a little price break on the fabric you need, and we open up some space on the floor. I am liking this logic – it’s the perfect symbiotic relationship!

That being said, now is the perfect time to stock up on fabric because today through July 17th we are offering 25% OFF ALL FABRIC AND PRE-CUTS IN STOCK (minimum of a half-yard cut. Offer does not include the Garden Gatherings fabric line or any fabric already on sale).

This is a great deal if I do say so myself. That’s 25% OFF both yardage and pre-cuts for the next six days! Like our June PG sticker says, “Nothing haunts us like the fabric we didn’t buy…” So true! Don’t let yourself be a victim of indecision. It always stings a little when I find a project I really want to do, and realize everything I need to complete it just went off-sale the day before I decided to commit. Murphy’s law! Don’t let it happen to you… Now’s your chance, so get shopping!

Are you participating my the O’ Say Can You Sew Mystery Quilt-Along? If so, you might be feeling a little worried after the “sneak-peek” clue I gave you regarding Clue #5. I had mentioned that to prepare for Clue #5 that you should purchase TWO packages of 1″ PG Finished Triangle Paper. I know two packages has 2,000 half-square triangles, but don’t worry! You’re not going to be making that many. There’s just not quite enough in only one pack. Plus, half-square triangles are really not that hard… You just need to do them enough get the hang of it. Practice makes perfect, which makes this is the perfect time to work on perfecting your skills. Let’s just say that after Clue #5, you’re definitely going to be more of an expert than you were before you started. LOL! I know you can do it – I believe in you! If you still need to get your two packages of PG 1″ Finished Triangle Paper before Clue #5 releases in a couple of weeks, order now so you don’t fall behind! You can find what you need by following the link below!

Are you all caught up and looking for a new project to tackle? I have just the quilt for you! Coming up very soon this month at The Gathering we are excited to be hosting our, “Summer Get-Away Retreat.” This is a two day retreat featuring my “Lulu the Ladybug” quilt – a sweet little number that is simple to make, yet has a ton of options as far as how you’d like it to look in the end – depending on your fabric and color choices. You’ll be able to pick out your own background to go along with the Dresden daisy motif, and of course the real star of the show Lulu the Ladybug.

Finished, “Lulu the Ladybug” measures 52 1/2″ by 52 1/2″, which is a great size for display on a child’s bed or hanging on your sun porch wall. As usual space is limited for this retreat, so if you’re interested in getting in on the fun please call Judy at 920.778.8031 to reserve your seat. We’d love to have you here with us!

I just heard a boom of thunder outside so I’m going to take that as my cue to call it a day and go home. It’s been near 90% humidity all day and the sky is about to burst – typical for a July evening in WI. I will see you all tomorrow during Shop Talk with Shelley at 9:00 AM CST. We’ve been off for a week so we’ll be catching up on some announcements and other important tid bids to share. I’ll be there in the comments so make sure to leave me one! You might even win a prize. You can tune in by hitting the button below. See you there! ~Lisa

I didn’t get the 25% discount on my order today.

Hi Sherry! I’m sorry that happened. Please email the shop at store@primitivegatherings.us or you can call 920-722-7233 and they should be able to help sort that out for you. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for letting us know! ~Lisa

Besides O Say Can You Sew, I am also working on Moda Blockheads (with Songbird Gatherings), 2 sew alongs from Facebook groups, plus my summer block of month from PG. I usually like to start and end a project before starting something new so this is fast paced for me to keep up with everything. Happy that most of these projects are portable so I can enjoy the summer!

How much fabric will we need for backing for “oh say can you sew” along? Thank you!

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Hi Juel! Thanks for your question. You’ll need 6-9 yards depending on whether you’re making a lap or a full-sized quilt!

I am working on Oh Say can you Sew, and found out I am a firm believer in starching, yes I know that not all fabric is created equal, but it sure helps to starch when in doubt. See you on Tuesday morning!

The kids look like they had a great time! Their projects are adorable. Glad you could get away from the shop for some down time. I feel like I have too many projects going at once but I am getting my chicken quilt ready to hand quilt as I go. I need to finish cutting the backing and binding. I have all of the rows ready. I am cross stitching a lot too and have fallen behind on the monthly sew alongs. You are tempting me with that fabric sale while scaring me with the baby half square triangles. Actually I am making 3″ churn dashes as part of a sew along. I love how adorable they turn out! The trickiest part is when I have directional fabric and want it all to go in the same direction. I am leaning how to turn the fabric before I cut! 🙂 Hope the kids have fun! K- lkw2x6-apq@yahoo.com
