Hey friends! T.G.I.F. It’s our last official Sewcialites 2 Friday and I don’t know about you, but with summer fast approaching and so many other projects going on, I’m definitely feeling ready to put this one to bed! If you’ve been following along with me on this quilt-along you know that the last block release out of 24 total in the series happened last Friday with my block “Energize.” If you’re all caught up, congratulations! The only thing left to do should be the finishing process. If not, don’t worry. Keep at it as much as you can – you’ll get it done eventually… I believe in you! I’ve always said playing catch-up with these particular blocks is a breeze since the designs are fairly simple and not a huge challenge. You can get a lot done in just a weekend!
Whenever you are ready to wrap up your quilt, there are three finishing options provided by Fat Quarter Shop to help you along. These options include one from the original Sewcialites (blocks are interchangeable with those from Sewcialites 2), one designed for this year’s Sewcialites 2, and an additional option Kim Jolly came up with to accommodate all three block size options including eight 3″ blocks, eight 6″ blocks, and eight 9″ blocks. Check em’ out!
To download the full set of instructions for all three of these finishing options, simply visit the Sewcialites 2 Landing Page by clicking the button below and you will find them listed at the bottom of the page.
There are also a couple of other modifications by other designers that Kim talks about in her LIVE demo, which you can watch by clicking HERE! To see the additional options available simply go to the Fat Quarter Shop’s Facebook page and look under “Groups.” Once there, you’ll need to request to join the “Sewcialites Lounge“ group. Please remember to answer all admin questions and agree to the page rules! Once you’re in you’ll have access to the additional finishing options.
I pretty much stuck with finishing option 1 (with a few tweaks here and there) for my final layout and I’m super happy with the way it turned out. It was the perfect choice for my Garden Gatherings fabric line and looks better than I hoped! What do you think?
Now that you’ve seen mine, how do you plan to do yours? Let me know what you came up with in the comments! All finished? I’d love to see your work! In fact, if you have a photo of your finished quilt and would like it to be considered to be featured in a future blog post, please send it along with your name, state your from, and a few details about your experience with this QAL to my trusty blog guru Heidi at heidin@primitivegatherings.us. Never know, there might even be a sweet prize in it for you!
…and since I brought up prizes, let’s give away a couple more! It wouldn’t feel like a proper Friday if we didn’t. This week I want to give a shout out and special thanks to Laurel H., and Sally D., for the lovely comments they left on the blog last week. Congratulations – and thank you both to the moon and back! Your comments are important to us so please – keep em’ coming and I’ll keep sending out the prizes. Deal? Deal (note: I do not post last names or email addresses for your privacy, so if you think you’re one of the lucky winners this week please be sure to check your email. You can also contact Heidi at heidin@primitivegatherings.us if you have not already received a prize confirmation letter from her. If you think you are a winner but have not received a prize confirmation email, be sure to check your spam folder – it’s not often but our emails will sometimes end up there)!!!
Alright gang, and just like that we’ve come to the end of another week. I swear, where does the time go??? I have a few things to wrap up before I head out for the night but then I plan to try and lay low for the weekend. As much as I love to be out and about being the social butterfly that I am, it’s also nice to stay home and enjoy the space I spend all week working my tail off for once in a while. I highly recommend you do the same when you can! I wish you all a beautiful evening and a restful weekend and I hope to see you all next week!
Oh and before I forget, just a heads up that due to Jess being occupied with techy website responsibilities next week, there will be NOCommentSoldbroadcast this coming Tuesday, April 25th. I know, I know – bummer, buuuuut I will still be going LIVE at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday to talk all about the next big quilt-along in my life, “Twilight Stars.” It will be a QAL that uses a combination of one of my latest fabric lines, “Rustic Gatherings“ and a beautiful Halloween-themed collection by one of my Moda sisters Jackie MacDonald of Sweetfire Road called Spellbound. I’ll be talking all the details so set your reminders now – you don’t want to want to miss it. Tune in by hitting the STITCH button below. See you then! ~Lisa
Love the Garden Gatherings piece! Will definitely miss Comment Sold this week but will tune in to your Live. I love how off the cuff and down to earth you are. You and your staff make everything fun!
Thanks Renee! I love to keep it real. No reason not to! Just an FYI we will have CommentSold on Thursday as usual, right after I go LIVE on STITCH with Lisa at 1:00!
Lisa, I am very excited to watch Tuesday and hear all about your new QAL “Twilight Stars”, both of the fabric lines you will be using are gorgeous !! Can’t wait !! Have a great, and relaxing weekend!!
Lisa, I am not a Halloween person. What line would you suggest to replace Spellbound with that would match as well as you feel Spellbound does for the Twilight Stars QAL? I already have Rustic Gatherings on preorder. Love watching your shows. Thank you!
Hi Jeanne! I would wait til you get your Rustic stash and then shop for colors you like that go with it. The QAL will last a year so there is plenty of time to find fabrics. I can’t wait to see what you choose! Happy stitching!
I just opened my quilt box and am still chuckling. I love the sticker, it’s great! The box is also a dandy one. PG never ceases to amaze me. Thank you!
I am eager to see all the variety of the blocks depending on the fabrics used. I’ll confess that I have saved all the patterns but yet to start! I have a stash of fabric now thanks to amazing deals on Comment Sold so next step is to starch! My quilt box should arrive this week too so I am eager to see what goodies are in there this month!
Thanks for taking time to write your thoughts for us to always read and be inspired!! Can’t wait to order your book with all the blocks in it for the sew-a-long ❤️ Bea Ann
Your finished Sewcialites2 quilt is beautiful! I am leaning towards that layout also. May add a few blocks to fill in the corner stars. Thanks for your beautiful block 24 and all your tips through out the QAL. On to our next adventure (like sewing the binding on my Oh Say Can You Sew quilt and putting it ON the bed! Thanks!
Congratulations to the WINNERS this week! I really LOVE LOVE LOVE your final layout for Sewcialites 2 QAL! Your quilt is AWESOME! I love your fabric choices as well! I hope to plan a trip someday to visit PG. Thank you for posting an update this week! I look forward to your Bountiful Quilt next! Have an AWESOME weekend, Lisa!
It’s terrific. I’m working on the same layout. I have to say the quilting is just the perfect design and is the icing on the cake!! It’s a real treasure!
