Happy May Day!

Hey friends! Happy May Day to all of you, and what a May Day it’s been! The last thing any of us wanted to see out the window while waking up this morning was the full blown snow storm currently happening outside but sadly, that’s exactly what we got. Whoever is in charge of this mess is apparently confused… April showers are clearly supposed to bring May flowers. There’s nothing in that rhyme about snow and slop to my knowledge, so I’m feeling kind of salty about it. On the brighter side, as you know, if there is one thing we’re good at up here in WI it’s finding ways to be productive even when the weather is acting up… Especially us stitchers – obviously! You mean, I have to say inside and stitch all day? Awe shucks. I’ll try to find a way to handle it. LOL!

I’d love to say that tomorrow’s prognosis is better than today’s, but unfortunately – it’s not. It looks like we have to wait until at least Wednesday to even begin seeing any kind of minor improvement on this highly offensive attitude Mother Nature keeps throwing around. Ugh, I know… She can be such a drag! If you’re local and suffering right along with us, at least know you’re not alone. In fact, if you need a little pick-me-up I have the perfect solution to bring a little light to your life, and carry you through until it’s worth going outdoors again. If you’ve never attended a Sit & Stitch event at The Gathering, now is the perfect time to give it a try before the sun decides to stay out for the rest of the summer!

Come spend the day with us at The Gathering! Sit & Stitch is a no pressure, fun opportunity to put a dent in your works in progress, or to break out a new one you’ve been meaning to start. Simply bring your gear and set up shop for the day. Surround yourself with likeminded, creative people who are all doing the same! Enjoy excellent lighting, multiple steam stations, and large spacious sewing tables, conveniently equipped with electrical outlets. Plus – we feed you! All for only 25 bucks a session or $40 for all day (both AM & PM sessions are not always offered each week – please see the schedule for when AM vs. PM, or both sessions are available).

Interested in attending? Our next sessions of Sit & Stitch are tomorrow, May 2nd from either 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. CST, or 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. CST (you must sign up for each session ahead of time if you plan to stay for both so we know how many to prepare meals for). Call 920.778.8031 to sign up!

If you can’t make this week’s sessions don’t worry, there is another one planned for Tuesday, May 16th from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. If that still doesn’t work for you hang tight – there are a few extra opportunities for you to attend this month on different days that might. You may have noticed that normally our Sit & Stitch sessions are held on Tuesdays and only once or twice a month, depending on what’s going on over at The Gathering. However, for whatever reason we needed to cancel a couple of events and switch around some others which opened up a bit of space on the schedule during the second week of May. We thought it would be fun to throw an Open Sit & Stitch during that week to give those who haven’t been able to make it out on our normal Tuesdays a chance to give it a try. Our additional dates this month are Wednesday, May 10th, and Thursday, May 11th from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. CST each day. The cost is still only $25 per person/per session to join the fun, and also includes lunch!

If you’ve been thinking about joining us for a Sit & Stitch session but haven’t yet, get off the fence! It really is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to get one-on-one help with any project or skill you might be struggling with. Consider yourself an expert? Come and help others or just hang out! You never know, you might learn something yourself or make a new friend… Either way, the delicious food and fellowship makes it all worth it one way or the other.

Alright everyone. I hope to see you all bright and early tomorrow for CommentSold at 10:00 a.m. CST! If you were lucky enough to catch me LIVE during STITCH with Lisa Bongean last Thursday you got to meet one of the top notch wool dyers here at Primitive Gatherings. We went over a bunch of information about different aspects of dying wool that I found to be super interesting, including a discussion on how dye color and quality have changed over the years. If you missed it and care about wool whatsoever, I highly recommend going back and catching the replay by clicking the STITCH with Lisa Bongean button below! Then, tune in tomorrow for CommentSold where we will be purging the shop and studio of what we refer to as, “renegade pieces.” In other words, one-of-a-kind trial and error pieces that we’ve acquired along the way that will never be produced again. If wool is your thing, you’re really not going to want to miss this one! Remember, you can tune in to watch on our Facebook page in the “LIVE” area or on the STITCH with Lisa Bongean Facebook Group page in the “MEDIA” area under “VIDEOS.” Until then take care and have a great evening, and I will see you all in the comments tomorrow during CommentSold! ~Lisa.

Saw last week’s Stitch With Lisa about wool. Learned some new information about wool. Amazing information about dying of wool. Loved learning your history about how you started.

Lisa, I feel your pain. Over here in Buffalo/Western NY there are many stay in and stitch days.
BTW. I happened to catch “the boys” live yesterday. They were very entertaining and of course, informative too. Great job for a test pilot show. 😊

Always enjoy reading your posts in my email. Wished I lived closer to be able to just come by and sit and stich.

The Upper Peninsula is supposed to get 14+ inches is snow tomorrow. I hope it ends before my son’s college graduation on Saturday!

I escaped Wisconsin to interior Alaska. Temps here in AK about the same as WI but sunny and beautiful! And sunset not until 10:30 pm so more time to enjoy the daylight! Who would have thought? Visited the Northwoods Quilt Shop but no stitching on the trip. See you for a Sit and Stitch!

We have had record high temperatures here in Utah and the 900 inches of snow that are up in the mountains are melting fast. Watch out for flooding. Luckily I live in an area where I don’t think it will hit my house even though the river is at the top of my street. I think the banks are high enough it won’t overflow. Wish I lived close enough for the sit and stitch. That sounds like so much fun

My sympathies for your weather. It has been a long, drug-out transition between winter and spring for most of us in the northern states. I think we are all ready for spring to finally arrive.

Loved your STITCH last Thursday. That was so informative. Your SIL is lovely. Having no desire whatsoever to dye my own wool, it was great to hear more about the process. Like others, I always call wool “white” when it really isn’t — more cream, light tan, etc. Looking forward to what is up on Comment Sold tomorrow and hoping that the two lovely sunny days we had last Thursday and Friday in Oregon reach Wisconsin soon.

Last week listening to the live about the WOOL, was very very interesting.
I learned alot and now look at some of my wool pieces from subscription box a whole new way.
Amazing how you look at colors differently when you know a story behind them.
Thanks again for all PG does for us.
